"It's nothing. Can we have more?" Ma Lim asked with a sweet smile, she looked too kind and naive for Yu Dong to take her seriously. In her head she already decided to make a stop at the magistrate's office and question Lin Wan, what were they thinking sending her girls this young, and what was she supposed to do with them?

"Sure go ahead," Yu Dong nodded as she allowed them to have more cake, it wasn't as if she had a choice as Shen Li had already plated two slices of cake more on their plates. "By the way, do you know why your mistress sent you here?" She just wanted to make sure that they were sent to the village by mistake before making a complaint to Lin Wan.

Ma Jun nodded and then stated in a cold voice, "We know. Madam Yu do not need to worry, we might look like we are too young but we have been trained as assassins ever since we were five. I assure you that we can slit the throat of anyone without spilling blood, there is no need for you to fear anything, Madam Yu, we will fulfil our duties to the best of our abilities." "That's right," Ma Lim smiled while she finished the second slice of her cake. "I killed my first victim when I was seven, and didn't spill even a drop of blood, so Madam need not to worry about my skills. I might look really young but I was sent to the battlefield when I was ten, I have killed and fought more people than Madam might have met in her life."

It was quite a contrast for Ma Lim to say something like this with a sweet face like that.

"Oh you poor child," Shen Li said with tears brimming in his eyes. If not for the fact that Ma Lim was a stranger to him, he would have hugged her. "Here you go, eat more. Look at you, you have suffered a lot."

Though Ma Lim was not certain why the mer was sympathetic towards a killing weapon like her, she was not going to refuse the kind offer that was given to her. She immediately agreed to eat more cake slices while praising Zi Zan to the seventh heavens.

On the other hand, Yu Tong who had received her slice of cake rushed to the house where Lin Hanjing lived with his daughter.

"Brother Hanjing," she called the mer who was wiping his daughter with a soft expression. When Lin Hanjing heard Yu Tong's voice he stiffened and raised his head to look at the woman who seemed more charming than before.

Ever since she had started to work for Yu Dong after saving enough money to buy a plot of land to farm and make a house next to Yu Dong's courtyard, Yu Tong seemed to have gotten more and more confident. She looked more radiant than ever and it only made Lin Hanjing confused and vulnerable, as he couldn't understand why this woman was still chasing him when she could find anyone better than him.

"Miss Tong," though Lin Hanjing wanted to stay away from Yu Tong not only because he thought she deserved better but also because every time he got closer to Yu Tong, her mother would come to look for him and tell him how he was ruining her daughter.

Lin Hanjing had little self-confidence, to begin with, thus when he heard Second Madam Yu's scolding, he only felt even worse.

However, every time he tried to distance himself from Yu Tong, the latter came back even more forcefully.

"Did I disturb you?" Yu Tong questioned with a flattering yet trepidation-filled smile. "I.. Don't think too much, I came here because my sister made something really good and I thought that you should taste it as well," after she was done speaking she handed the cake to Lin Hanjing who took it with a helpless expression.

He wanted to refuse and hand it back to her as he didn't want to receive anything from Yu Tong when he knew that he couldn't return her affections but before he could do that, Yu Tong turned on her feet and then dashed out.

Though Lin Hanjing didn't say anything Yu Tong knew what he was going to say thus she ran out, like every other time.

"You have traumatized her, Brother Hanjing. Shall I say congratulations?" Xiao Zimo said to Lin Hanjing who rolled his eyes and then said, "I am just trying to help her. Her life will be better if she stops coveting someone as useless and degrading as me."

Xiao Zimo rolled his eyes before picking up Lin Yimu, he patted her as she seemed to be fussy and then stated, "You are being a fool. If you keep acting like this one day you will realize that you have lost a pearl while worrying after fish eyes."

After he was done speaking he walked inside the house leaving Lin Hanjing to sit there like a statue as he stared at the door of his house. Was he really making a mistake? But what did he even have for him to hand it to Yu Tong?

While Lin Hanjing was worrying about this and that, Second Madam Yu had already started to make a move.

After Yu Cheng returned from the town, he insisted that they needed to bring back Yu Tong at the least. Since Yu Tong and Yu Dong were related and had a close relationship, if they were to bring Yu Tong back even if Yu Dong didn't help them, she would at least give them alms, right?

And at the moment, they were more than happy with just having alms! This was why Second Madam Yu looked for a mer who was kind, gentle and easy to manipulate for Yu Tong.

Because there was no way she was going to let her daughter get married to a prostitute who sold his body and had a child with some unknown woman!
