GUARDIAN OF THE MARVEL REALM

Chapter 90: CHAPTER 90:School City in the War

When Shen He found Tony Stark and Coulson, her heart was heavy.

They were visibly stunned.

"There's a major crisis erupting in another world," Shen He explained. "We won't be able to stay for more than a day at a time due to system limitations, but we'll need to invest everything we have while we're there."

"Serious how?" Tony asked, arms folded.

"Extremely." Shen He nodded solemnly. "We're talking global-scale warfare—esper superpowers, clone legions, high-level magicians… possibly even divine entities."

"...Ok," Tony muttered.

Neither Tony nor Coulson knew how to react. The multiverse really didn't allow for any rest.

Shen He offered only a brief summary before returning to summon her combat-ready followers. More precise intel had been provided by Fang Tong.

The turning point had come when Misaka Mikoto witnessed the brutal killing of one of her clone sisters in an abandoned factory.

At first, the situation followed the familiar path—Accelerator, or "One Side," flaunted his arrogance. But after launching Mikoto into the distance, the version that returned was… something else.

——Pitch-black lightning surged like the resentment of the entire world embodied.

Even Accelerator's memory of it was shaken.

Mikoto had changed completely—her smile was more terrifying than his madness. She unleashed an electric shock of unparalleled ferocity. The sheer residual energy alone paralyzed the core grid of Academy City.

Accelerator tried everything to resist, but her attacks—utterly unscientific—bypassed calculations and crushed defenses. The difference in power felt metaphysical.

This "Alter" Misaka then exposed the full truth of the Misaka Sister Project, seized control of the clone production facility, and rallied an army of Level 0s and disenfranchised espers betrayed by Academy City's lies. The conflict spiraled into an all-out civil war.

And to make things worse, even before Accelerator's defeat, magicians from the magic side had begun to infiltrate. Nations outside Academy City were positioning themselves to exploit the chaos.

Their plot advantage had nearly evaporated.

"We need to find the original Misaka Mikoto first," Shen He determined. "She must be hiding. Once we locate her, we can rally whatever camps are still winnable… then figure out what Alter Misaka truly is. That strength—was it really her own?"

"I don't think so," Fang Tong said darkly. "That girl... it felt like she was channeling someone—or something—else's power."

"…The Holy Grail?" Shen He muttered, but then shook her head. "Doesn't matter. One step at a time."

The Toaru Majutsu no Index world was already treacherous. Even without the Demon Gods, figures like Aleister Crowley and Archangel Aiwass made victory nearly impossible. If the Holy Grail was involved, the odds were even worse.

Not to mention the growing influence of the magic side.

She opened the system interface and tapped on the "Forbidden World" instance—labeled "Special Instance: Academy City Crisis."

Enter!

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

A rain of gunfire exploded around them. High-speed projectiles ripped through the air with terrifying velocity.

Qi Mu Nanxiong reacted instantly, erecting a Nian Power Barrier to protect the group. Still, vehicles were shredded, concrete cracked, and storefronts shattered from the sheer volume of bullets. Car seats tore apart as foam and stuffing flew in every direction.

"New espers! Incoming!"

"Suppress them! Fire! Don't let them get close!"

"Deploy every last weapon!!"

Gunfire raged alongside panicked screams.

Shen He scanned their surroundings.

They'd landed on a wide urban street—though it no longer resembled one. Rubble was everywhere. Cars were in ruin, buildings were pockmarked with craters and scorch marks. One storefront had been blown open entirely, its contents strewn across the road.

The street had split into two camps.

One side was made up of ragtag armed units—people wielding rocket launchers, machine guns, all in civilian wear. The other group—mostly teenagers in school uniforms—had no weapons but ducked behind makeshift bunkers, shielding themselves with makeshift tactics and esper powers.

And between them, countless bodies lay strewn across the battlefield.

"Master," Joan of Arc asked, her battle aura rising. "Whom do we assist?"

"We assist the capable—show no mercy. These aren't students anymore. This is a battlefield."

Shen He's words were calm. Compassion had no place here—not when both sides were fully armed and casualties already stained the streets.

"Perfect," Accelerator said, lips curling in a feral grin.

He'd shed hesitation and fear. He wasn't fighting for justice—he was fighting for one child's salvation. Any who stood in his way would die.

BOOM!

The shockwave of his movement overpowered even the gunfire.

Accelerator launched himself toward the armed faction like a missile.

This was his world. The level restrictions of followers didn't apply here. His body was a beast's weapon—each step cracked the earth. Bullets bounced off his body as he laughed madly, crashing into enemies with speed no eye could track. One swipe of his slender hand sent men flying—dead before they hit the ground.

"I've completely recovered… ha ha ha! Now you'll pay! I'll kill every last one of you!"

His voice was pure malice. His crimson eyes glinted, targeting the next unlucky soul. Soldiers turned pale and began to retreat.

They all recognized him.

The strongest from the Old Academy City: Accelerator!

Hadn't he been crippled by the original Misaka?

"Damn it—monster!"

One soldier screamed and ran toward the rear defenses.

A small armored truck was parked at the rear—surrounded protectively. Seeing their panic, Accelerator understood instantly.

He stomped once.

The street exploded beneath his feet. Chunks of pavement and shrapnel launched outward with hurricane force. Screams filled the air as vehicles were smashed aside. The metallic scent of blood grew stronger.

Using the momentum, Accelerator rocketed forward—straight at the truck.

"Same trick again?"

He punched into the roof like it was paper. The steel shell twisted grotesquely, ballooning before bursting.

He grinned—inside was a superpower inhibitor. He remembered this device well—it had nearly killed him when he was wounded.

Then—

His smile froze.

Beside the jammer stood a familiar figure in an orange Tokiwadai school uniform. She held a rifle, her face blank.

Misaka Mikoto.

"…You've got to be kidding me."

The monstrous Accelerator, conqueror of thousands, suddenly looked like he'd swallowed a bug.

He took a step back instinctively.
