GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2169: The Power Of Nobles.

If there is one thing the nobles learned after the rise of the god of justice, it was to take over the pathway of knights. They learned that the pathway of knights was too powerful to leave in the hands of others.

The nobles are still killing any knight who doesn't have a noble family. They have decided to monopolize that power instead of eliminating it completely.

Of course, in exchange, they have to spend a lot of resources in order to cultivate an army for the pathway of knights to show its complete power.

The Ivory family hasn't reached that point yet. Only a rank 4 knight can gain power from an army of mortals and godclads of every pathway.

But once they reach that point, they will surely need a lot of resources to raise an army. Right now, those resources are going to the lamp bearers, who are stealing the resources and using them to turn the people against the nobles.

As Sir Bushwick watched, he saw something interesting begin to happen to Captain Sheckel. He saw that her face was disappearing.

She had been frowning earlier and gritting her teeth in anguish as the cries of fear and pain of her subordinates reached her ears. But now, it seemed she was giving up completely.

Sir Bushwick frowned and said to her, "Don't do it, or you won't be able to enter the kingdom of your god."

She didn't listen to him. She continued to give up the control of her existence to her inner demon. This caused her to begin to mutate.

Her eyes closed and shrunk until they sank into her face and disappeared. The same thing happened to her nose, hair, lips, and hair. Soon she became a faceless demon.

But the changes didn't stop there. She began to burn too.

Her clothes caught fire, and her body began to melt like wax. The heat coming off of her was so great that the armor of the knight began to heat up and melt.

The knight hurried back away from her to prevent being cooked from within. Everyone stopped fighting and did so.

The rank 3 traveler saw this and cried out, "No, Sheckel."

Captain Sheckel didn't have a mouth, but she still had a throat, and there was a hole in it because of melting flesh, so she was able to scream, "Run!!!"

The traveler shouted to her, "I will avenge you."

Then she picked a direction and ran away. The three remaining lamp bearers also ran away.

Sir Bushwick saw this happen and shouted at his subordinates, "What are you doing gawking at her? Chase after them. Don't let any of them go."

The knights pursued the lamp bearers. But Black Knife and the other two rank 3 godclads stayed behind to put down the rank 4 mutant judge.

The judge mutant didn't bother with any of them. It was focused on Bushwick because he just screamed now.

The mutant had gone insane. It had lost all of its memories and had forgotten about revenge or vendettas.

The mutant was also blind and deaf. It was essentially useless and would have remained useless if Bushwick hadn't just ordered someone to kill another human.

The mutant was blind, but it could see sin clearly. And right now, Sir Bushwick possesses the largest amount of sin.

The mutant only had instinct left, and its instinct was to remove all sin from the world. So it began to run towards Bushwick in order to remove his sin.

After Captain Sheckel turned into a mutant completely. Her flesh was burned and became pale and translucent.

What burned her was a fire in her torso. The fire had burned away and replaced her internal organs all the way from her neck to her pelvis.

This fire was the source of the great heat that burned her clothes, her flesh, and almost melted the rank 3 knight within his plate armor. Yet, her translucent flesh could hold the fire.

Because her skin was translucent, everyone could see the fire burning within her. If there wasn't a ban on the use of Fire of Sin, the fire within her would have jumped onto everyone around her and burned them of their sins.

Since the fire couldn't automatically cleanse the world of sin, the mutant had to bring it to the most sinful person around it.

Sir Bushwick's face became stern when he saw the ghostly mutant rushing towards him. The speed of the mutant was far greater than that of a rank 4 godclad, but he wasn't afraid.

The first thing he did was to remove the effects of his rank 2 Noble Suppression on the other godclads and place it on the mutant.

The effect of this move was minimal. It barely slowed down the mutant because the power between the two of them was currently too big.

But Bushwick wasn't done yet. He activated his rank 1 divine ability called Noble Blood. This let him draw power from every living being with the noble ivory bloodline.

This rank 1 ability is similar to the rank 1 Chains of Unity divine ability of the pathway of knights. It caused Sir Bushwick's physical power to soar to a new level.

The main difference between the two divine abilities is that Noble Bloodline can be used with everyone in the bloodline regardless of their states as mortals or their pathway as godclads. But it can only be used with members of the Ivory family.

Despite this restriction, the Ivory family has a lot of family members, so Bushwick can sustain his rank 5 power for much longer. And because the source of his power is not nearby, the sudden boost to his power can't be shut off by killing his family members.

These differences are why nobles looked down on the pathway of knights initially. They didn't need the power from the pathway, and they thought the pathway of nobles was better.
