Chapter 482 - 482 – Dragon StoneSword
Max wanted to confirm it. Whether or not his feeling was right about StoneSword's new creation.
"That's right. There is nothing better than looking at the test result than fighting a human-controlled enemy."
It was indeed StoneSword's voice.
Max gritted his teeth at the shocking revelation. How petty was this guy? He planned to give them a surprise just because he seemed to have fun with Lily in the test..
"You're crazy!" He yelled while pulling Lily behind him.
"I'm not." The dragon flew up above them and shot another breath of fire, which made Max rush forward and dodge it by sliding under it.
A scorching heat could be felt from the attack and the air burned in front of him with a crackling sound as if it was a microwave being heated up. It was hotter than he had thought it would be.
"Are you afraid of a small surprise?" StoneSword's voice continued again with an annoyed tone. "Why are you dodging it so much?"
"Small?" Max laughed dryly, "You think this is small?"
Entering a dragon character just to mess with them was a small surprise. Well, it might be for him.
In a game, dragons usually acted as a last boss. They were extremely hard to beat and required players to cooperate with other players in a party. Only with a strong enough firepower could they deal enough damage to defeat it. Dealing with it alone was impossible, or so the game usually designed it.
But here, he had Lily.
"Max, dodge!"
Lily screamed from behind him, casting an ice spell on the StoneSword dragon that struck its face directly and froze it momentarily.
"Aargh! It's cold!"
The dragon roared angrily as it tried to shake off the ice particles on its face off with a jerk of its head and glared at Max. Its eyes turned bloodshot and focused on his figure as he got closer to it.
"I will kill you!"
"Don't be unreasonable!"
A claw as large as a truck swung down at Max with a fast speed. It split the wind around it apart and tore through the space in front of it, sending out a gust of wind that pushed him backward while shattering the ground into pieces from the impact of its attack.
Lily immediately tried to intervene by shooting an ice bolt at it, but she failed to do anything since the ice shattered as soon as it hit the dragon's tough scale and did nothing.
Max rolled on the ground backward while grunting. Pain attacked his body. He used his sword to stop the momentum and managed to stand up once more. He was slightly pissed that his dungeon date was bothered by Lily's brother.
"Give me buffs, Lily. Anything helps." He ordered, "I will fight him directly."
"Un."
With Lily's answer, he jumped forward to face the dragon head on. As he ran toward StoneSword, his body glowed a few times as the buffs were applied.
"Haste, Giant Strength, Jump Boost, Evasion Boost..."
There were several buffs that appeared one after another which made his body look shiny as he rushed forward using the wind like a gust of green lightning.
Max moved quickly and avoided all of the attacks launched by StoneSword, dodging under the dragon's tail and claws. Due to its big size, StoneSword could only move slowly when facing a human-sized opponent. Even if he moved quickly and punched it with his full strength, it would only destroy the surroundings.
"Hahaha, can't touch me now." Max laughed lightly while jumping in front of the dragon's face. His eyes had a hint of playfulness and taunted the dragon in front of him.
The dragon was frustrated and jumped up in the air to smash Max into pieces by smashing him with its claws or stomping him to death. But, Max already moved again. He swung his sword repeatedly, trying to slice at the dragon's body with his sword. Nonetheless, he could only inflict a small wound because the sword's quality was too low.
At that time, he noticed StoneSword opened its mouth wide.
"Don't think you can beat me easily."
A lump of fire gathered inside his mouth, forming a huge fireball that turned into a powerful laser that shot out at Max like a beam cannon from science-fiction movies. Max couldn't avoid it in time, so he could only raise his sword in front of him, blocking the powerful attack directly with it.
When the fire met his sword, a transparent shield suddenly appeared in front of him, protecting him from the burning fire as he smirked.
"Hahaha, I got Lily protecting me."
"No!"
StoneSword couldn't accept it.
"Lily!" He roared as he looked at his sister who was standing away from them. "If you stop protecting him, I will buy you anything you want!"
Lily looked at her brother with a blank gaze. She raised her staff and muttered a spell before activating it.
"Stone Prison."
A chain of stone erupted from the ground and locked StoneSword's body in place before entangling around its body, covering it like a cocoon and making it unable to move or use its claws to attack Max. Following that, she activated another buff.
"Razor Edge."
With a hum, Max's sword was covered in blue light.
"Nice one, Lily." Max praised her and started his relentless attack on the dragon once again.
His blade was glowing brighter than before as he stabbed into the dragon's neck before proceeding to slash downwards. This time, it was much easier to cut through the dragon's skin. It left a long cut that stretched from its neck to its waistline. The dragon's roar of pain echoed through the cavern, reverberating off the walls.
"Die for now, StoneSword!"
He plunged his sword deep inside the dragon's eye socket. A thick viscous fluid flowed out from its eye and onto Max's hand while blood seeped from its mouth which he slashed open after a brief struggle.
Blood splattered across his face as he felt a heat spreading across his chest.
"I will... see you outside."
StoneSword said before his dragon body disappeared along with the scenery around them. Max couldn't help but laugh bitterly as he stood there alone with Lily. The cave filled with lava disappeared, replaced by a greenery forest with sunlight peeking through the thick foliage overhead and brightening up the surroundings.
Max found himself in a forest.
[Congratulations for finishing Dungeon Dive! A Co-op experience! ]
Words appeared in the air.
"The goal was a bit absurd, though." He commented after reading it briefly before looking around again as he turned to Lily who walked over to him, "Well, now that we finished this test game. Let's log out and see the result."
"Un."
After getting her response, he entered the menu and logged out first. He removed the helmet from his head and the capsule was opened with a mechanical sound.
Unlike the usual, his sweat wasn't pouring like a waterfall. He actually only sweated a little, which surprised him when he felt the back of his hand touch his forehead to wipe it off. There wasn't even any pain or fatigue in his body after moving around inside the virtual world so much. He looked at Lily's condition and she was in a similar state.
They looked at each other in confusion before a voice called them.
"How is the setting? Amazing, isn't it?"
StoneSword grinned as he spoke with a prideful tone, looking at his sister and his partner with an expression of satisfaction.
"It's worth the effort installing my voice mod in the dragon AI. Both of you showed off well. We gained important data. Now we only need to do the final setting before you can use it at home."
"AI?" Max narrowed his eyes, "The dragon was an AI?"
"So that's an AI." Lily nodded in understanding.
"Yes," StoneSword nodded his head, averting his eyes slightly. A guilty look plastered on his face.
He lied. That dragon was actually himself controlling the last boss character.
Not that Max would say that. If he wanted to keep it that way, then he would keep silent.
"Anyway, we only have some small tests left. And then..." StoneSword's gaze landed at Lily. Gentleness could be felt from it. "We can get you a capsule at home so you can play more often without worrying about your body."
Lily returned his gaze with a smile before nodding her head slowly in agreement, "Un. Thank you, brother."
