Chapter 48: Chapter 48 Becoming Stronger

After the training, the group made their way back to Meteor City.

Having been soundly defeated by Law, both Uvogin and Nobunaga were in a very miserable mood, sharing a sense of mutual misery.

Machi had just come into contact with Nen and she was still clumsy with the basic Nen Techniques. She had basically no ability to fight against Law and could only watch without being able to participate in the combat training.

In the two battles, although Uvogin and Nobunaga were beaten by Law, they had displayed their unique strengths and abilities.

From the sidelines, Machi watched intently. She couldn't shake the feeling that she had been left far behind, so much so that she remained silent on the way back.

She kept pondering... how to catch up with Law and the others.

The three of them said nothing, and Law also walked at the front in silence, oblivious to Machi's feelings.

Two months of intense training had undoubtedly made Law stronger. Even if he is asked to face Cook again, he is confident that he can win easily.

'Although my control over Aura has improved, I still feel a slight lag when regulating the amount of Aura.'

'When fighting against Uvogin, even with intense focus, I couldn't transfer Aura smoothly, and there was about a one-second delay. It was fine for attacking, since I can prepare in advance, but for sudden defense, it's too slow.'

'It's very difficult to improve, so I have to take it slow and not rush.'

'Although using my Aura feels more fluid now, it's still not sustainable. At best, I can maintain my peak state for less than five minutes.'

'During these two months, I've been so focused on refining control that I've neglected increasing my overall Aura Reserves.'

'Moreover, even though I've trained so hard, the Awakening Rate of the six Categories only increased by 1%.'

'Sure, progress is progress, but at this rate, it's way too slow.'

Law looked straight ahead, thinking silently as he walked.

If he uses his full strength, he can only last less than five minutes in a battle, which is too short.

If he encounters a powerful enemy, even if he can deal with them, if he cannot defeat the enemy within five minutes, he will enter a weakened state, which is equivalent to stepping one foot into the grave.

While his Aura Control had improved, it still wasn't satisfactory. Next, it is necessary to shift his training's goal to increasing his Aura Reserves.

Five minutes is too short...

'Five minutes is far too short… Since I've got about two months left, I need to push it to at least fifteen minutes.'

Law subconsciously clenched his fists, realizing that his drawbacks and shortcomings must be resolved as soon as possible.

From now on, he will have to spar with the others every day to accumulate combat experience, and also increase his Aura Reserves by training.

Each of the four had their own thoughts, but they all shared a common goal: to become stronger!

After their battles, Law, Uvogin, and Nobunaga were exhausted, and they barely recovered some strength on the way back.

As they approached Meteor City, Uvogin and Nobunaga's flagging spirits began to warm up.

"Law, what are we having for dinner today?"

When they arrived near Meteor City, Uvogin asked enthusiastically.

Though Nobunaga remained silent, he also looked at Law with anticipation.

"Sour and spicy shredded potatoes, and fish-flavored shredded pork." Law replied casually.

Although there is a market on Meteor City, it is extremely small and the ingredients that can be purchased are also very few. At most, one can only make some home-cooked dishes, with potatoes being the staple food for almost every meal.

"Gulp…"

Hearing the names of these two dishes, Uvogin and Nobunaga swallowed reflexively.

When Machi saw their reaction, she rolled her eyes.

"Let's move faster. I'm starving."

Uvogin urged as he picked up his pace, and soon left Law and the other two several meters behind him.

Law, Machi, and Nobunaga had no choice but to quicken their steps to keep up with him.

About ten minutes later, the group arrived at Uvogin's house.

In terms of size and kitchen setup, Uvogin's place was decent. While Chrollo's house was better equipped, Law seldom went there, or rather, he seldom goes to East District.

If he has to say the reason, it is of course because there is a pervert on East District. If he went there less often, it will reduce the chance of encountering him.

After returning home, Uvogin was the first to rush into the bathroom, causing Nobunaga, who was soaked in sweat, to almost cut down the bathroom door angrily.

Machi stood quietly in the living room. She closed her eyes and began to train her Ten and Ren.

Meanwhile, Law went to the kitchen and started processing the ingredients to prepare the meals for Machi and the others.

Ever since he showcased his cooking skills that one time in the church, the others hadn't even thought of stepping into the kitchen. It was as if they'd decided they couldn't eat unless it was food made by Law.

Placing five washed potatoes on the cutting board, Law stretched out his palm and hovered it over the potatoes, using the power of God Hand.

The glowing sphere expanded to the same size as the chopping board, covering the entire board and the five potatoes.

Law stared at the potatoes calmly, then controlled God Hand and began to peel the potatoes.

Then, the five potatoes with different shapes and sizes changed simultaneously. Just like peeling an apple, starting from the top, a thin layer of skin slowly spiraled away gracefully.

In less than thirty seconds, all five potatoes were peeled.

Afterwards, Law shrunk the range of God Hand to the size of a ball, covering a single potato. With a slight mental command, in less than a second, the potato was sliced it into perfectly uniform strips by God Hand.

After finishing one potato, Law immediately moved on to the next one. In less than five or six seconds, he had finished processing all five potatoes.

When he first tried to use his Nen Ability to process potatoes two months ago, it took him a minute to peel them, and he could only cut the potatoes into ten of uneven chunks at best.

Now, not only could Law cover the entire cutting board with his Nen Ability, he can also identify the target. He can peel five potatoes at the same time without affecting the chopping board.

This improvement, being able to discern and act on multiple targets, was significant progress. While he couldn't yet shred two potatoes simultaneously, it was only a matter of time and training before he could push past that limit.

Whenever he used stones to train the control of God Hand recently, he often thought of a future situation.

If his control is good enough, it will be possible to use his Nen Ability to dissect living organisms' bones, muscles, blood vessels, or even microscopic pathogens.

These vivid thoughts gave him boundless motivation.

Using God Hand, Law quickly finished preparing the ingredients and began cooking.

In less than ten minutes, two large pots of food were ready, while the rice had already been cooked before they left today.

As he carried the dishes and utensils to the table, Uvogin was still in the shower. Nobunaga seemed to have found an opportunity for revenge. He raised a finger to his lips in a 'shush' gesture before rushing to the table, intending to eat up the food while Uvogin was still taking a bath.

When Machi noticed Nobunaga's antics, she paused her training and approached the table. Seeing Nobunaga's exaggerated expressions, sighed softly. Then, she looked at Law, only to see that the other party also had a helpless look on his face.

Bang!

Just as Nobunaga was about to dig in, the bathroom door flew open with a loud crash, and Uvogin stormed out with a towel wrapped around his waist.

"I smell food."

Law, Nobunaga, and Machi looked at the foam on Uvogin's body that had not been washed off, and there were several black lines on their foreheads.

...

At night.

Law lay on the bed, resting his head on his hands, staring at the ceiling in a daze.

Machi was still sleeping in the hammock. At this moment, she was also awake. She suddenly asked, "Law, are you asleep?"

Law tilted his head, looked at Machi in the hammock, and replied, "Not yet."

"Oh." Machi murmured, and then fell silent again.

Law was puzzled, but didn't press for an explanation.

The room fell silent.

After a while, Machi asked in a questioning tone: "Law, what do you think about... transforming Aura into threads to use?"

Law was stunned when he heard this, but hesitant about how to answer.

Originally, Machi's Nen was to transform her Aura into threads, so this was a question that could be answered easily, but Law hesitated.

After some thought, Law answered seriously: "That's something only you can decide. There's no need to rely on others' opinions."

Instead of affirming or dismissing her idea, Law encouraged her to make her own judgment.

Hearing this, Machi fell silent again.

After a moment, she said softly, "Alright."

....

The next day, the combat training continued.

Uvogin and Nobunaga continued to suffer thorough defeats at Law's hands.

The days passed like this.

As they gradually became stronger, September was approaching.
