Chapter 350: Book 13: Part 3 – Phueus Reappears
Without hesitation, the group set off, making sure to acquire as much information as possible about what was happening with the Firm Nail Pirates. In the process, they inadvertently found out how Qimai and Weslor ended up antagonising Molde – an extremely ancient and incredibly powerful expert, even among Commanders.
According to the reports, the Firm Nail Pirates made their way to the Infernal Realm a little over 1000 years ago, after Killian and the others had just entered the Planar Wars.
Though not that powerful in the grand scheme of things, they managed to attract a lot of eyes because both Qimai and Weslor, the siblings and captains of the Pirate Crew, were following the path of a Supreme Genius.
Still, what was most impressive about the two siblings was their ability to merge their spirits together for a large spike in power, allowing the two siblings, who ordinarily were each at best at the level of a five-star fiend, to jump to the level of a commander when fighting together, even if only barely.
It was that ability that allowed them to wander almost unhindered through the Infernal Realm.
Sometime down the line, whilst adventuring, Weslor, the younger brother, apparently met a woman called Diana, who was a relatively powerful expert herself. Although she wasn't a Supreme Genius like Weslor, Diana was still a High God five-star fiend.
Unfortunately, before venturing out on her own, Diana was once the wife of an expert called Bonin, who was an over-arrogant six-star fiend.
When Bonin found out that his wife had met someone new, he immediately set out to confront him and reclaim his wife.
Bonin had heard the rumours of Weslor's ability to merge spirits with his sister to jump to the power level of a commander, but as the beloved and heavily doted on son of an exceedingly powerful commander, he didn't care. In his eyes, even if he couldn't beat them with his own power, the two siblings would know better than to anger his father.
Unfortunately, he had no idea that the two captains didn't care about him or his father – that was the pride of a Supreme Genius. Even if Bonin's father was stronger than them now, that was only because he was older than them. In the future, they would inevitably catch up to and even surpass Molde.
As a result, uncaring of the consequences, Weslor and his sister made quick work of Bonin and his guards.
When news got back to Molde, he immediately set out to avenge the death of his son. And that was a sequence of events that led to the Firm Nail Pirates fleeing from the ancient commander, Molde.
Thankfully, although a lot weaker than their pursuer, they had a decent enough headstart, allowing them to flee for long enough for Kannal and the others to catch up to the Firm Nail Pirates before Molde did.
When they did, Kannal, being something of a father figure to the two siblings, could understand why Molde was so enraged. If someone had killed either Qimai or Weslor, he too would stop at nothing to avenge them, so although he empathised with Molde, he couldn't allow him to carry on chasing them.
Still, not only did Kannal empathise with Molde, but he was also now a paragon in both the Concept and the Laws of Wind; as such, it was impossible for him to put a mere commander-level expert in his eyes.
As such, after approaching Molde, he gave the man the option of either letting bygones be bygones and moving on or dying where he stood.
Even though Molde had heard of the events that transpired in the Planar Battlefield just passed, all of the reports focused predominantly on Ace, with a few on Killian, Leona, and Amira.
Normally, Kannal's talent and power should've allowed him to truly shine and become a universally famous expert, but with him being surrounded by so many monsters, he ended up flying under the radar.
Because of that, when Kannal approached him on behalf of the two siblings who killed his son, he assumed that Kannal was, at most, like him, just another commander and because of a certain treasure that he had acquired, unless one was a paragon or Sovereign, they were incapable of making him lower his head; as such, he decided to attack with intent to kill, only to find out he was the egg and Kannal was the brick wall.
Being a twofold paragon, Kannal effortlessly defeated him with an attack that, by all intents and purposes, should've killed him, but what Kannal hadn't seen coming was Molde, who should be dead, to suddenly revive, as though nothing had happened.
Seeing that, Kannal suddenly found himself amused, eventually discovering that the treasure that was somehow capable of making Molde incapable of dying was actually a bracelet made of nine pearls.
After forcibly removing the pearl bracelet and killing Molde's most powerful divine clone, Kannal left with the treasure, completely unaware of the trouble that was heading his way.
After his most powerful divine body was destroyed, he was left with his inferior but still powerful divine clone at the level of an ordinary seven-star fiend. Still, his most powerful body had begun fusing six mysteries, making him extremely close to the paragon level; as such, his anger could be imagined.
In an attempt to get his revenge with a borrowed sword, Molde decided to release the news of the treasure that was taken from him.
It turned out that the treasure was far from ordinary. According to the news Molde released, it was one of three life-type Overgod talismans. When all three talismans are brought together, one can summon the Overgod that released the Overgod talismans and make a single request of them, including the creation of a genuine Overgod Artifact.
As one would expect, the news quickly spread like wildfire, and the amount of interest it garnered from the experts of the Infernal Realm was nothing short of monumental.
Still, the group of individuals most interested in the development was none other than the Sovereigns. After all, whether it was High Gods or even Paragons, their power would inevitably be too weak to bring out the true power of an Overgod Artifact.
As soon as news made it back to Kannal and the others, understanding the gravity of the situation, they immediately rushed to return to the Yulan Plane.
They understood that Aiden's power was enough to deter the Sovereigns from going overboard in ordinary situations, but the temptation of an Overgod Artifact might end up being too much, especially for those overambitious Chief Sovereigns.
Thankfully, they managed to get the news of the report Molde released relatively quickly and were able to make it to the teleportation platform unimpeded.
Unfortunately, just as the teleportation array had been activated, Wodred, the Chief Sovereign of Destruction, arrived on the scene. He was too late to stop it; as such, all he could do was attack the array, hoping that destroying it would be enough to stop it.
Unfortunately, as powerful as he was, the teleportation arrays in the various upper realms were created by the Overgods themselves. Although he was able to destroy it successfully, he wasn't able to do it before the group was teleported away.
Still, because of Wodred's actions, their teleportation to the Yulan Plane was destabilised, causing their exit point to be thrown off target. Ultimately, although the group was teleported to a material plane, it wasn't the Yulan Plane they had been hoping for.
The good news was that because there were literally billions of material planes scattered across the universe, Wodred had no idea which one they were sent to.
The bad news was that their unstable teleportation caused the teleportation array of the Material Plane they were sent to to shatter upon entry. Although, with Julius's level of skill, fixing it wouldn't be a problem, it would take at least ten years.
According to Julius, although technically, the arrays in the various material planes were "weaker" than those on the higher realms, they were actually of a higher level, having been formed naturally by the heavens, thereby making it more complicated and harder to decipher.
As predicted, Julius was able to fix it and simultaneously bring his comprehension of the art of formations up to an all-new level. Unfortunately, it was more than enough time for the Sovereigns to track them down.
Thankfully, because Sovereigns were incapable of truly descending onto a Material Plane – unless it was the plane they were born in – the most the various Sovereigns could do was send an energy incarnation into the plane in order to barter with Kannal and the others.
Unfortunately, Kannal and the others didn't fear the Sovereigns as much as other deities would – with their side having no trivial amount of Sovereigns and even one, soon to be two, Overgods, they naturally had nothing to fear; as such, they rejected the various offers proposed, and when the arrogant and lofty Sovereigns resorted to threats, Kannal or Killian would act to destroy their drastically weakened incarnations, fearless of potential consequences.
To make matters all the more frustrating for the Sovereigns, they knew that there was no point sending in other Paragons – even without Ace and Amira, whether it was Killian, Leona, or Kannal, there were no known paragons able to put up a fight against them.
But that was when a new development happened. Originally, given the nature of the news, the Sovereigns of the Infernal Realm put measures in place to prevent the other Sovereigns from finding out the truth, but eventually, news began to leak to the other upper realms and, by extension, the other Sovereigns.
By that point, though, the Infernal Realm Sovereigns didn't mind. It was seemingly impossible to force Kannal to give them what they wanted, and none of the other Sovereigns would be able to change that, or so they thought.
When Phueus and his wife, Yoruna, who happened to be one of the Lesser Paragons of Darkness, appeared, it was revealed that the Muceal Plane that Kannal and the others had holed themselves up in was actually the birthplace of Yoruna.
When they heard that, the eyes of the other Sovereigns lit up with excitement, but then, looking at the childlike Sovereign beside Phena, the light in their eyes quickly faded. Not only were the two Sovereigns husband and wife, but the power Phueus revealed not too long ago was still fresh in their mind.
Phueus' power had surpassed each and every one of them, including Wodred, who had an offensive Overgod weapon of his own element.
Coming to that conclusion, each of the other Sovereigns present was determined to stop Phueus from getting his hands on the Overgod Artifact and becoming even more possible, even if it meant all of them working together to take him down.
Either way, that would have to wait for Phena's triumphant return.
