Chapter 59: Chapter 55 - Buzz, Brawls and Battle Invitation
The next day, Orange Star High was anything but normal.
It started with the students crowding around the front gates—phones in hand, talking over one another in a frenzy.
"Did you see the clip of Videl bench pressing 1000Kg?!"
"Erasa's trending on FightTok! People think she's using sterroids!"
"Sharpner's punching bags are sold out online. The company said 'our gear wasn't made for gorillas in human skin.'"
The trio's entrance turned heads instantly. Videl wore her usual steely expression, but Erasa gave an awkward smile while Sharpner walked with his hood up, trying to ignore the attention.
By the time they reached their classroom, a swarm of classmates had already gathered around their desks.
"Videl! Are you joining the next Tenkaichi Budokai?!"
"Erasa, are you sponsored now? You have like, 300k followers!"
"Sharpner, bro… how much do you bench?"
Ms. Kinoko, their teacher, cleared her throat sternly at the door. "Everyone, seats. This isn't a stadium!"
She gave Videl and the others a sharp look before muttering, "You three had better keep things low-key. The principal's already had two calls this morning from the Ministry of Sports…"
Meanwhile – World Martial Arts Tournament Committee HQ
Inside a sleek, futuristic office overlooking the Tournament Island, several suited executives gathered around a large screen showing news reports of Satan Gym's wild footage.
A lean, silver-haired man leaned forward. This was Kazuto Ikari, the new Director of the Tenkaichi Budokai—appointed to modernize the aging spectacle for global appeal.
"This… is interesting," he said, eyes glinting.
His assistant, a woman with glasses and a tablet, nodded. "The girl lifting 500 kilos is confirmed to be Erasa Paper, Orange Star High. No known martial arts background. The others are Videl Satan and Sharpner Pencil."
"The Satan name already sells. But this Erasa girl?" Kazuto smirked. "She's gone viral. Fresh blood. Audiences love prodigies."
"But what about the current reigning champion?" another exec asked. "Weren't there rumors about the previous champion Goku joining the tournament?
Kazuto waved it off. He was a big fan of Son Goku. "Unconfirmed nonsense. Mr Son would just be bored with the current line up. But, if they want to participate, they can register like everyone else."
"But if we invite them directly—"
"No," Kazuto said firmly. "We can't give them preferential treatment."
He turned back to the screen, now playing slowed footage of Videl delivering lightning-fast jabs that cracked the camera audio.
"We'll issue a public call for this year's Special Exhibition Match. Invite fighters from every corner of the world. If Miss Satan and her companions are as strong as they seem… let them prove it on the world stage."
Back at School – Cafeteria
Gohan sat beside the trio, watching the news scroll on a wall-mounted TV above the lunch line.
BREAKING: Martial Arts Tournament Committee Announces "World Youth Exhibition Division" – Open Invite Begins Today!
Videl narrowed her eyes. "They're trying to bait us."
Erasa snorted. "Too late. We're already on the hook."
Sharpner rubbed the back of his neck. "Do we… want to enter?"
Videl crossed her arms. "We didn't train this hard to just hide it forever. And I don't know about you two, but I'm not letting some committee twist my story."
Erasa smiled, her excitement bubbling just beneath the surface. "Then let's make it official."
Gohan, quiet until now, looked up. "Just remember—these tournaments attract… attention."
Videl blinked. "From who?"
Before Gohan could answer, a strange shimmer of energy flickered in the corner of the cafeteria. For a split second, everyone went silent.
Then it vanished.
Erasa leaned forward. "...Was that?"
Gohan's eyes narrowed.
Someone had just scanned them with Ki detection.
And it was from Earth.
Far from the rolling hills of Mount Paozu and the peaceful serenity of Goku's home, another school of martial arts was stirring from the shadows—one thought obsolete by many. Deep in a mist-shrouded mountain temple, Master Shen, the Crane Hermit, stood at the edge of a stone platform, watching four figures strike with precision, grace, and deadly intent.
His eyes, narrowed with age and bitterness, scanned over his disciples—the fruits of years of secret training and meticulous discipline.
"These are not tricksters," he muttered to himself, voice cold with disdain. "Not like that fraud, Mr. Satan."
He clenched his fist tightly behind his back.
"For too long, the Crane School has been disgraced. First by Tien, the traitor who chose the Turtle path. Then by fools who laugh at true martial prowess and hail flashy buffoons as champions."
He spat to the side, as if the name Mr. Satan tasted rotten in his mouth.
But now… things had changed.
The Crane School's four new prodigies stood before him:
Yun – A lean, fast-striking prodigy specializing in speed and rapid-fire Dodonpa blasts. Known for his explosive movement and eerie silence in battle.
Saya – A female martial artist with graceful, serpentine movements. Her Crane Style mixed precise strikes with agile counters. She could disrupt an opponent's Ki flow with her touch.
Kuro – The largest of the group, a brute of a man trained to use brutal palm strikes that shattered stone. His body was a fortress of muscle and his discipline, unshakable.
Ren – The most versatile and calculating of the four, a prodigy who mastered flight and energy projection by age 12. His cold, analytical mind made him a natural leader among them.
Master Shen addressed them.
"You've surpassed even Tien Shinhan at your age. And now, fools like Satan parade their lies on stage… It's time to restore balance. The World Youth Exhibition Division—will be your first step."
He pulled out a flyer with the dates for the tournament.
"Show them the Crane School has not withered. Show them what true martial arts look like. We don't need to shout. Let the world see for itself."
