Chapter 113: Volume 2 Chapter 56: The Eve Before Impact (Part 1)
"The Ghidorah's Wings... their landing destinations…"
"They've changed! Their landing destinations have changed!"
"What?!"
The trajectories of the Ghidorah's Wings had remained constant before—always aimed at the Middle East.
For the past few dozen days, their impact zone had never shifted. But after Godzilla's attacks, the Ghidorah's Wings changed course!
Their target was no longer the Middle East but...
"East Asia, Northern Europe, Southern Africa, the Middle East… They've split up—completely scattered. The Ghidorah's Wings have spread out across the globe!"
The observer loudly reported the current situation.
Everyone present stared at the large screen displaying the latest projected trajectories of the Ghidorah's Wings. Mouths slightly open, they seemed to want to say something but couldn't form any words.
According to the latest projections, the Ghidorah's Wings had divided into four groups, descending toward different regions of Earth.
Out of the remaining ten Ghidorah's Wings, only three were still heading toward the Middle East as originally planned.
The rest were heading toward other parts of the world.
Three to East Asia, two to Southern Africa, two to Northern Europe—The Ghidorah's Wings, now 200,000 kilometers away from Earth, had split into four groups and were approaching the planet from all directions.
"They've scattered?" x3
Monster combat command bases worldwide received the same news. Though many had anticipated such a scenario days earlier, when it actually happened, the weight of the situation bore down on everyone's hearts.
They had run countless simulations, and naturally, this scenario had been considered countless times—if anything, it had always been a leading prediction.
After all, as the Ghidorah's Wings slowed their approach to Earth, changing their trajectories became increasingly likely.
This outcome had long been anticipated.
In fact, in the initial projections, this scenario was considered good news.
After all, the satellites and super-electromagnetic cannons were distributed globally.
If the Ghidorah's Wings had landed in a single concentrated area, it was uncertain whether the local firepower would be sufficient to completely destroy all of them.
If they failed to eliminate them entirely and allowed the monsters to regroup, the situation could become a prolonged crisis.
If the Ghidorah's Wings held out until the second wave arrived, their threat level would increase exponentially.
Therefore, if the Ghidorah's Wings didn't land in a single area but instead spread out across the globe, it would actually be a blessing.
This way, the firepower of the entire world could be brought to bear simultaneously against them.
The combined firepower of the world was undoubtedly far greater than that of a single region like the Middle East or Northern Europe, allowing for a much faster elimination of the Ghidorah's Wings.
In that sense, the dispersal of the Ghidorah's Wings was actually good news.
It would have been good news—if the global population had already been fully evacuated.
If the world's population had been entirely relocated to safety, the dispersal of the Ghidorah's Wings would be beneficial.
But the world's population hadn't yet been fully evacuated.
And that made this situation far from good news.
Apart from the Middle East, other major regions still had large populations outside shelters.
If the Ghidorah's Wings had concentrated on the Middle East, even if local firepower couldn't destroy them all and the situation became prolonged, the casualties would still have been within an acceptable range.
The Middle East had a relatively low population to begin with, and most of the region's inhabitants were already in shelters.
In that case, while there would still be some losses, they would have been minimal on both sides.
But now—
If the Ghidorah's Wings spread across the globe and attacked populations that were still outside shelters…
While humanity's ability to eliminate them would indeed increase severalfold, the rate at which the Ghidorah's Wings could kill humans would increase even faster.
"There will be many deaths…"
"There will be so, so many deaths…"
Someone muttered as they stared at the projected trajectories on the screen.

World United Government Headquarters, in the underground shelter reserved for the Speaker of Parliament.
Ludwig stared at the screen before him, which displayed the projected times of arrival and the latest calculated trajectories of the first wave of Ghidorah's Wings.
The earliest would arrive at 5:58 AM UTC, and the latest by 6:49 AM UTC.
It was currently 12:23 AM UTC, meaning less than seven hours remained until impact.
Apart from the Middle East and Europe, the evacuation progress in Southern Africa and East Asia hadn't even reached 60%.
This meant that 1.2 billion people in Southern Africa and 3 billion people in East Asia were still outside shelters, far from safety.
Even in Europe, where the evacuation rate had barely exceeded 70%, there were still over 5 billion people across the four impact regions who hadn't reached shelter.
Even if they didn't consider entire regions but only the populations near the projected impact zones, the numbers were staggering.
"In Europe, the landing site is in the Prussian region, with the nearest shelter 200 kilometers away. Conservatively estimated, over 20 million people are exposed within a 500-kilometer radius of the impact zone."
"In East Asia, they will land near Yanjing, where 50 million people are exposed within a 500-kilometer radius. As for the Middle East, the entire population has already evacuated. But in Southern Africa…"
"There are no super-electromagnetic cannons near the landing site. It's estimated that at least 1 billion people in Southern Africa are at risk."
"Optimistically, the death toll from this wave could be around 10 million…"
In the lower-right corner of the screen, the latest casualty reports from regional monster combat command centers were displayed.
After assessing the Ghidorah's Wings' landing sites and the locations of nearby shelters, each region provided their casualty estimates.
Under optimistic projections, East Asia, Northern Europe, and the Middle East could each suffer fewer than 5 million deaths, while Southern Africa could suffer around 5 million deaths.
This was the optimistic scenario.
Ludwig picked up his phone and sent a message to all regional command centers.
"What about the pessimistic estimate?"
He wanted that number.
After a long pause, during which the screen continued to show the live feed of the Ghidorah's Wings, the lower-right corner displayed three new messages, all eerily similar in content.
"It won't come to that."
Won't it?
Ludwig had a rough idea of what they meant.
Billions.
That was a number humanity could not afford.
