God's Journey In A New Time

Two weeks had passed since Donovan lost his Nothingness Body. Despite crafting a new body with infinite zero values and endless layers, Donovan couldn't shake the feeling of insufficiency. He had lost the most powerful Body in existence, and this realization gnawed at him relentlessly.

Sitting in the serene garden of Leon's grand mansion, Donovan leaned back on the bench, his empty yellow eyes gazing at the endless blue sky. Though outwardly calm, his thoughts churned like a storm.

I won't let my guard down again, he resolved silently, his cold expression betraying no hint of his inner turmoil.

From the mansion, Leon and his wife, Luna, observed him through a large window. For the first time since the tragic loss of his daughter, Donovan had been completely withdrawn, isolating himself for the entire fortnight.

Luna glanced at her husband, concern etched into her gentle features. "Should we talk to him?" she asked softly.

Leon sighed, crossing his arms. "He's more likely to listen to you than me. You should try."

With a nod, Luna made her way out of the mansion, her steps steady yet delicate. Reaching Donovan, she lowered herself onto the bench beside him, her motherly smile radiating warmth.

"Are you alright, dear?" she asked in a soothing voice, her tone akin to a gentle melody.

Donovan turned his head toward her, his cold gaze softening slightly as his eyes met hers. "It's nothing, really," he replied, his tone as icy as ever.

"Don't lie to me, Donovan," Luna said, her voice firm but still tender.

Before he could respond, Luna placed her hands on his face, gently tilting his head to meet her gaze. Her sharp, yet caring eyes bore into his, and for a moment, Donovan felt like a child under the guidance of a protective mother—a stark contrast to his usual unyielding self.

Then, without warning, she pulled him into a comforting embrace, his head resting on her shoulder. The warmth of her gesture made something deep within Donovan stir, a sensation he couldn't quite name but didn't resist.

He exhaled heavily, breaking the silence. "I'm just... dealing with loss. But I'll be fine."

Luna rubbed his back gently, encouraging him to continue.

"I keep thinking," Donovan said, his voice low, "how could someone like me—someone emotionless by design—feel betrayed? I was created to be a fighter, a monster without feelings. I was supposed to face anything, no matter how devastating, without faltering. But now…"

Luna pulled back slightly, her hands still on his shoulders. "You are not a monster, Donovan," she said firmly, her voice as steady as a heartbeat.

Donovan's gaze met hers again, but this time, a faint crack appeared on his face, like fragile porcelain breaking under pressure.

Alarmed, Luna gasped. "Donovan! Your face… it's cracking! What's happening?"

"It's nothing," he replied, brushing off her concern. "Beings of my race don't typically experience emotions. When we do, our form reacts… unusually."

"And what emotion caused this?" she asked softly, her curiosity laced with concern.

Donovan's eyes darkened. "It doesn't matter."

Luna didn't push further but shifted the conversation instead. "Donovan, will you talk to Angelita? She hasn't left her room since... what happened."

Donovan let out a slow sigh. "Fine. I'll try."

As he stood and adjusted his suit, Luna's smile returned, soft and encouraging. She watched him disappear into the mansion, a quiet hope blooming in her heart.

In the World of Infinite Seals, Chasin sat on a throne of twisting white vines, his expression twisted with fury. His glowing red eyes burned with an otherworldly intensity, illuminating the dim surroundings.

"Donovan… you've broken the seal of emotions," Chasin muttered, his voice sharp and venomous, "and it wasn't from some celestial force or ancient entity. It was a mere mortal woman."

His lips curled into a sinister smirk as a cold chuckle escaped him. "But no matter. Time will reveal your weaknesses, Donovan. Time will show me everything you are capable of... and everything you are not."

The world around him echoed with his eerie laughter, a chilling sound that reverberated through the void.

Donovan stood outside Angelita's door, his hand raised as he knocked firmly. "Angelita," he called out. "It's me."

A muffled voice came from inside. "I'm not hungry."

Ignoring her response, Donovan opened the door and stepped in. Angelita sat curled on her bed, her legs crossed and her face buried in her hands. Her eyes were red and swollen from crying, and she didn't look up even as Donovan approached.

He took a seat on the edge of the bed, his presence commanding yet oddly gentle.

Angelita peeked at him through her fingers, her voice trembling. "I… I'm so, so sorry."

Donovan sighed heavily. "'Sorry' doesn't fix anything, Angelita," he said, his voice cold but not unkind.

She flinched at his words, silence stretching between them.

Finally, Donovan broke it. "...But I will forgive you."

Her head shot up, her teary eyes wide with disbelief. "You will? Truly?"

"Yes," Donovan said, meeting her gaze. "But forgiveness doesn't mean trust. Trust is earned, not given. Remember that."

Angelita nodded, her lips quivering. "I'll earn it back. I promise."

Donovan stood, placing his hands in his pockets. "Good. Then start by proving you deserve it."

As he exited the room, Angelita stood in silence, her gaze following him, determination flickering in her eyes like a fragile flame.
