God-Level Reset: System of the Forgotten King

Chapter 56: Ghosts of the Maker

The Seed's awakening changed everything.

Even time itself shuddered.

Kade stood frozen, facing the girl—no, the weapon—who had once been a child locked in stasis. No older than seventeen now, her eyes held the weight of a thousand ends.

Silver. Burning. Infinite.

"I'm not the Seed anymore," she said. "Not just."

Marei stood to Kade's right, weapon lowered. The Catalyst inside her flared with unease. It wasn't fear. It was recognition.

"You're like me," Marei whispered. "A carrier."

"No," the girl corrected gently. "I am the core."

The Cradle began to shift around them. Pillars of glass rose, showing snapshots of other lives. Kade watched as one screen replayed a future where he died before the Reset. Another showed him crowned in a dark city. Another… slaughtering the entire System Council.

"Why are you showing us this?" he asked.

"Because he made me remember everything," she said. "And then forced me to forget. Over and over. You want to kill Rell? You think killing him ends this?"

Kade stepped forward, eyes narrowing. "He's behind the Reset. Behind the collapse."

"He's a symptom," she said. "The infection is deeper."

She raised her hand.

Reality cracked.

A door appeared behind her—a sealed chamber humming with forbidden energy. Its walls were coated in hex-patterned sigils, impossibly ancient and familiar.

"You want to change the future?" she asked.

"More than anything," Kade said.

"Then you need to see what came before."

She waved her hand—and the vault opened.

Inside lay an old, skeletal frame wrapped in deep blue armor. Technology unlike any Kade had ever seen—older than Earth's Collapse. Older than the System.

IDENTITY: REDACTED – PRIMORDIAL CORE.

The armor's chest cavity still pulsed faintly. In its hand, a fractured datapad. Kade picked it up.

The message glowed:

"The System was never meant for peace."

"It was designed to control timelines."

"And every King before you has failed to stop it."

Marei stiffened. "What does that mean?"

Kade read the last line aloud:

"If you can read this… you're the final one."

Suddenly, alarms screamed. The Cradle groaned. The Seed screamed—not from fear, but release.

The Catalyst surged inside Kade like a supernova.

SYNCHRONIZATION REACHED: PHASE 3 UNLOCKED.

Kade's eyes turned violet.

Then black.

And the girl—the former Seed—looked at him with a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.

"You're not just a King anymore," she said softly.

"You're his replacement."
