Chapter 26
Beijing.
The sudden meteorite rain had destroyed the luxurious imperial capital, reducing it to rubble.
Compared to Yuncheng, Beijing had towering buildings and a denser population.
The casualties were naturally much higher.
“Mr. Duan, the headquarters building was hit by a meteorite. About 300 employees are trapped inside and need immediate rescue.”
“The collapse of the branch building will likely result in many casualties, and the loss of pensions to employees, along with other property losses, is expected to total one billion.”
“The damage to the warehouse isn’t significant. Thanks to your previous order to reinforce the warehouse, adding silicon carbon alloy to the outer walls greatly improved its ability to withstand external forces. It was truly a wise decision.”
Silicon-carbon alloy was an industrialized product made from silicon carbide.
Silicon carbide was the basic material used in battle tanks. It had high hardness and a low thermal expansion rate, making it valuable.
When Duan Haiping requested that all warehouse exterior walls be transformed into silicon-carbon alloy, he was opposed by the board of directors and a group of subordinates.
He fought against all opinions, spent huge sums of money, and pushed for the renovation of the exterior walls, even having his own villa renovated.
Now, it seemed that Mr. Duan was truly foresighted and had prepared for rainy days.
Despite the adoring and admiring gazes of his subordinates, Duan Haiping remained cold, showing no interest in their damage assessment reports.
His eyes stayed focused on the phone for a long time, specifically on the chat interface with Liu Jin’an.
The young man’s advice was endless, covering every aspect.
And the sentence “Whether what I said is true or false, you will know at ten o’clock” stood out, even more detached and confident.
It felt as though he could see the handsome young man, raising his eyebrows slightly, with pride and confidence written all over his face.
Bright and open, no need for any pretence.
His eyes gradually deepened, and he frowned, regretting not being able to capture Liu Jin’an’s attention.
“Mr. Duan, please give your instructions on what to do next.”
Duan Haiping put his phone back on the table and spoke in a deep voice. “Try to comfort the employees and their families and provide them with necessary food and accommodation. Also, gather the meteorite fragments.”
If what Liu Jin’an had said was true, then these meteorites were the key to awakening and enhancing abilities.
Political power came from the barrel of a gun, and those with strong fists dictated the rules. This was an eternal truth.
Though Duan Haiping had never thought about how high he wanted to climb, since the opportunity was before him, he naturally couldn’t let it pass.
Soon, the vermilion stone was placed in front of him.
He reached out and felt the power of the gallium element filling his body. So, this was what it felt like to have superpowers.
Before he could try out the superpower he had just acquired, a strange force of attraction struck him.
It felt as though his soul was being pulled, and he could only watch as he fainted. When he opened his eyes again, he found himself standing in front of Liu Jin’an.
Subconsciously, he used his powers to control the rapidly flying bullets.
“If I had been one second slower, you would have been riddled with bullets.”
He never knew his tone could sound so… plaintive.
Liu Jin’an was also stunned. He truly couldn’t understand why Duan Haiping was here. “Duan Haiping?”
Realizing that the young man in front of him was just as surprised by his appearance, Duan Haiping’s heart skipped a beat. Could it be that Liu Jin’an hadn’t summoned him here?
He could clearly feel that this wasn’t his body, or else he wouldn’t be able to stand like this.
Suddenly, an idea crossed his mind: “I don’t understand what you mean.”
Also, Duan Haiping should have been in a state of despair in Beijing.
Liu Jin’an calmed himself for a moment and probably realized the reason. “It seems that you are my summon. Go, take him down, and let me see what you are capable of.”
Summon?
Could it be that when Liu Jin’an awakened his summoning power, he had summoned Duan Haiping himself?
Duan Haiping turned around, his eyes showing a rare hint of interest. It seemed that he and this little guy were truly destined.
He raised his hand slightly, and the two hanging bullets turned around and flew toward Shi Yuning.
Shi Yuning’s physical strength was no longer enough to support him in using his powers again.
In just one second, he only had time to fire one more shot.
The strange thing was that the gun was fired, but no bullet came out.
Puff!
Under Duan Haiping’s control, the two bullets pierced Shi Yuning’s wrists with precise accuracy.
“Ahhh!”
Sharp pain struck, and Shi Yuning could no longer hold onto the shotgun, collapsing to the ground and wailing in agony.
The shotgun hovered obediently in front of Liu Jin’an.
Manipulating metal proved to be a useful ability.
Liu Jin’an felt a twinge of envy and was about to move forward with his knife, but he saw his summoned creature kick over the kneeling leader of the Falcon Group.
“Y-You…”
Before Liu Jin’an could stop him, Duan Haiping stepped on one of Shi Yuning’s fingers.
Another piercing, shrill wail erupted.
Liu Jin’an’s words were stuck in his throat as he was about to speak.
He remembered the scene where Shi Yuning had tortured Officer Zheng, and part of him thought it might be good to let Shi Yuning suffer before his end.
Fingers were connected to the heart.
Duan Haiping proceeded to step on each of Shi Yuning’s fingers, breaking them one by one.
He also directed the bullet in Shi Yuning’s body to travel through his blood vessels, squeezing and destroying his flesh.
Seeing that Shi Yuning still struggled, Duan Haiping broke his two legs as well, rendering him immobile.
The screams grew fainter, and a pool of blood mixed with excrement gathered beneath Shi Yuning’s body, sending an unbearable stench into the air.
Shi Yuning, who had committed countless heinous acts, was now tortured to the point of incontinence.
Liu Jin’an’s eyes flickered. The crazy villain in the novel truly lived up to his reputation. Even the agonizing sound of cracking bones made Old Hu and the others shudder in fear.
“That’s enough, give him a quick end.” Liu Jin’an ordered.
Duan Haiping, however, still had more to say. When he thought about how Shi Yuning was such a scumbag, and how he almost harmed Liu Jin’an, he couldn’t help but let his sadistic tendencies take over.
He suddenly wanted to see the expression on Liu Jin’an’s face when he saw him like this.
Duan Haiping slowly raised his head.
Blood splattered across his face; half of his eyes soaked in crimson. A bloodthirsty smile twisted his lips.
He looked like a devil emerging from hell, ruthless, evil, and wilful.
Liu Jin’an carefully looked at the man before him. He didn’t understand why his summoned creature looked so much like Duan Haiping, with a strikingly similar personality.
It even seemed to have its own thoughts, unlike other summoned beings that only obeyed the commands of their masters.
Perhaps it had something to do with the Book of Superpowers?
Considering that the summoning time limit was one hour, Liu Jin’an thought it would be too disgusting to leave Duan Haiping bloody.
Without hesitation, Liu Jin’an ended Shi Yuning’s life with a knife, putting an end to his cruel torture and sinful existence.
“I haven’t had enough fun yet.” Duan Haiping muttered, his fingers curling around the two blood-stained bullets in his hands, playing with them.
“Be obedient,” Liu Jin’an snapped, slapping the bullets out of his hands in disgust, “I am your master, and you must listen to me.”
“Master?” Duan Haiping chuckled darkly, his bloodied eyes glinting with cold light.
“Well,” Liu Jin’an replied casually, taking out a tissue from his backpack. Only then did he realize he was slightly shorter than Duan Haiping. “Lower your head.”
Duan Haiping complied.
The blood quickly stained the tissue paper, and he used several tissues just to wipe the blood off the summoned creature’s face.
He frowned slightly. “Maybe you should find a place to wash up?”
Duan Haiping pointed at himself, clearly disbelieving. “How dare you blame me for using so many tissues?”
“Xiao Duan, I advise you to recognize the reality,” Liu Jin’an said, patting Duan Haiping’s cheek. “Tissues cost money, and you’re free. I don’t need to tell you who’s more expensive, right?”
Summons having their own minds was really troublesome.
This situation wasn’t mentioned in the novel, but Liu Jin’an’s summoning ability was a weakened version, so it made sense there would be flaws.
In contrast, Aunt Zhang’s Piggy was much less troublesome.
Liu Jin’an sighed and looked over at Zhang Bao, who was next to Zhang Wenqian, envious.
Duan Haiping laughed angrily. “What do you mean? Do you think I’m worse than a wild boar?”
“Zhang Bao still let me pet him.”
Liu Jin’an waved at the wild boar, and Zhang Bao immediately trotted over to let him pet him.
As Liu Jin’an rubbed Zhang Bao’s ears, he looked at Xiao Duan provocatively.
“Come on, squat down and let me touch you, okay?”
