Chapter 211: The Empyrean [5]
Lingsha's legs shook and her breath rasped through cracked lips.
Her body was bruised and shattered in half a dozen places.
But her eyes burned.
Burned with hatred so deep it drowned her pain.
Just looking at Elize's face made Lingha's blood boil "I... I WILL KILL YOU! ELIZABETH!"
Her eyes blazed as purple flames seared across her body and she slowly stood up "I will take my revenge… for what you did to my mother…"
Hm? Hearing this, Elize's gaze squinted slightly and she turned to look at Naevora, who was standing meters away, watching the fight.
"Oi, what's her name again?"
Naevora blinked, still dazed by what she was witnessing "Lingsha. Ji Lingsha."
Ji? Elize's eyes narrowed further and then she remembered a woman.
Naevora also realized why Ji Lingsha has vengeance for Elize.
She opened her lips before muttering, "Ji Shenyi, previous World Leader... that Miss Elize killed."
Elize gripped her palm tightly "The woman who was responsible for Marzella's death... So you are her daughter."
"Your mother killed Marzella and now you are trying to kill her son?"
Ji Lingsha gritted her teeth and the purple flames around her grew wider.
The temperature skyrocketed.
And with a shriek of violet ether, a monstrous phantom of herself erupted from her body.
The phantom was monstrous in scale, like two hundred meters of blazing rage.
Its fingers cracked like whips of fire, and its body radiated destructive heat that began to melt the nearby ruins.
Stone warped and the Iron support beams sagged.
Every step the phantom took scorched deep craters into the earth, making the dungeon tremble.
Lingsha's broken body floated midair, tethered to the phantom by trails of crackling ether.
Her arms hung loosely at her sides, her skin blistered and scorched from channeling power beyond her limits.
But her eyes never wavered.
They were locked on Elize "You took my mother's life… Now I'll take everything from you. I'll burn you… your legacy… your precious boy into ash."
The phantom lunged.
Its massive arm swung down in a wide arc, generating a blast of violet energy that cracked the dungeon floor and vaporized the top of a nearby tower.
The impact radius was enormous and the sheer pressure pressed down like a collapsing mountain.
As the phantom's limb descended, Elize extended her hand and met it with her palm.
BOOOOOOM-!!!
The impact flattened the area around them and shockwaves rippled out in concentric waves, toppling what remained of ruined buildings and hurling debris across the battlefield.
Naevora, watching from afar, had to brace herself behind a chunk of rubble, shielding her face from the blast.
Her gaze was locked on Elize, who stood unmoved beneath the colossal limb of the phantom, holding it at bay with one hand.
Naevora noticed that Elize is not even touching the phantom's hand and there is a space in between them.
She blinked her eyes in surprise 'Is she controlling the space?'
Elize clenched her hand.
Crack-!!
The phantom's wrist buckled under her grip, and Lingsha screamed as the feedback tore through her soul.
Her body jerked violently, blood spurting from her mouth.
The phantom's arm shattered in a cascade of violet fragments, crumbling like glass.
Elize took a step forward and vanished.
Thoom-!
She reappeared high in the air, driving her foot into the phantom's chest with a downward kick that split the beast down the middle.
The phantom staggered, a great canyon of ether-rent flame erupting from its chest as the blue shockwave from Elize's strike dispersed its form like smoke.
Lingsha tried to pull it back together, trying to reassert her control.
Her hands trembled as she forced herself upright and she screamed into the storm of collapsing ether as she reached for the fractured phantom that loomed behind her.
Its torso was split wide open from Elize's last kick, and the flames that once shaped its monstrous core now sputtered like dying embers.
But Lingsha refused to let it die.
"COME BACK!" she yelled, pouring more and more ether from her battered core into the air, forcing it to congeal around the phantom's limbs.
The massive figure groaned, pulling itself upright with sluggish, uneven movements.
Jagged patches of violet fire stitched together the ruptured body, though its form now twitched and spasmed unnaturally.
Elize hovered high above, her hands glowing with a subtle blue light as threads of energy flickered between her fingers.
The space around her shimmered.
Flick-
In the blink of an eye, Elize vanished, only to reappear behind the phantom's left leg.
A ripple tore through the air as she snapped her fingers, and space folded inward, twisting violently in a small spiral that targeted only the limb.
CRUNCH-!
The phantom's leg imploded at the knee and ether fibers that made up the construct were sucked into a singularity the size of a marble before collapsing in on themselves with a shriek.
The massive body toppled forward, slamming into the stone with a boom that fractured the earth.
Flick-
Elize appeared mid-air again, directly above the phantom's back.
Her palm glowed with a shimmering hexagonal pattern and she drove her palm downward.
'Compression Field: Zone Lock.'
The space beneath her hand compressed violently as if reality itself was being squeezed into a tighter shape.
The phantom let out a soundless roar as its body began to compact, shrinking against its own will.
Its enormous torso bent inward unnaturally, crushed by the gravitational fold Elize created with her hand alone.
Lingsha shrieked as her soul-bond with the phantom spasmed, blood pouring from her nose and ears.
The flames grew erratic but still, she refused to let go.
"I SAID COME BACK!" she screamed again, burning away more of her own core to force the phantom to swell in size, even as it was being crushed.
The purple flames roared back and for a moment, the construct surged upward, tearing itself free from the compression zone with brute force.
"Impressive," Elize muttered, blinking once. "But not enough."
She reached behind her and drew a narrow, glowing filament of ether... a thread of space, so thin it could barely be seen with the naked eye.
Holding it like a needle, she aimed.
'Phase Stitch: Seam Cut.'
She flicked her hand and the filament darted forward like lightning.
It sliced through the air in a jagged spiral, curving around the phantom's body before tightening in a blink.
SHHHNK-!!!
A thin, glowing line appeared across the entire upper half of the phantom and then its shoulders and head slid off its body in a diagonal cut.
The entire top of the phantom collapsed sideways like a structure cleanly severed by a scalpel.
And then the entire phantom collapsed.
Ji Lingsha collapsed to her knees and her hands burned from the effort, the veins along her arms turning black from internal damage.
"I… won't lose," she muttered. "I won't lose to you…"
Elize landed gently before her and her footsteps echoed in the silent ruins of the battlefield as she walked toward Lingsha.
"I'll kill you!" Lingsha screamed, throwing her hand forward.
A blast of ether surged from her fingers coiled with purple flames, aimed directly at Elize.
But Elize didn't block.
She stepped through the blast.
Literally.
The flames passed through where she had just been because that 'space' no longer existed.
She had shifted herself, folded the space around her body, bypassing the attack entirely.
And then she appeared directly in front of Lingsha again.
Her hand closed around Lingsha's throat.
Lingsha gasped and this time, she couldn't even resist as Elize lifted her from the ground.
"You've burned enough," Elize said coldly.
Lingsha thrashed violently, clawing at Elize's arm, her purple flames sputtering under the sheer dominance of spatial ether surrounding her.
The glow in Elize's eyes intensified "You should've stayed buried with your mother's sins," she said flatly, before twisting her wrist and hurling Lingsha through the air.
CRASH!
Lingsha slammed into the remains of a collapsed tower, shattering through concrete and rebar.
The walls buckled, and debris rained down over her and she tried to stand... only to find Elize already behind her.
BANG-!
"GUAAARGHHH!" A palm strike smashed into her spine and rhe air was knocked from her lungs.
She staggered forward and Elize blurred ahead of her again.
BOOM! A straight punch to the face this time.
Lingsha's cheek split open as her head snapped back violently, and she was lifted clean off the ground.
She hit the dirt with a wheezing groan, blood trickling from her nose, mouth, and ears.
Her limbs trembled, trying to summon flames again, but they barely flickered now.
Elize descended slowly, each footstep pressing deeper into the stone.
Lingsha screamed and lunged at her again, swinging a broken blade of purple ether from her palm but Elize sidestepped and delivered a knee straight into her gut.
CRACK!
Lingsha folded around the blow, spitting a thick glob of blood.
Then Elize's hand seized her wrist.
And twisted.
POP-!!
The shoulder dislocated with a disgusting jolt.
"GRAARGHHH!" Lingsha cried out, only for Elize to hurl her upward like a ragdoll and then appear above her mid-flight, driving an elbow straight down onto her chest.
THOOM-!!
Lingsha's body cratered into the earth and her ribs cracked like brittle glass.
She lay motionless for a second, coughing blood onto the stones.
Elize landed beside her, one hand trailing faint blue strands of ether that shimmered like spider silk.
Lingsha coughed violently and her body twitched, her limbs spasmed… but she couldn't rise.
She looked up at Elize with red-rimmed, hate-filled eyes "I'll… kill… him…"
Elize looked down at her and her calm expression broke.
Looking at her face, Lingsha murmured "You can't kill me.. if you kill me, it means you are declaring war with the government."
Elize's eyes condensed "Do I look like I care?..."
