Genshin Impact: The Gambler of Teyvat

Chapter 189: Chapter 189: Shajin's Letter

Liyue, this ancient and magnificent city steeped in a thousand years of history and rich culture, sparkled like a radiant gem upon the land of Teyvat. At this very moment, it basked peacefully under the warm, golden sunlight.

Lining the streets were rows upon rows of shops, their storefronts adorned with colorful lanterns that hung like stars beneath the eaves. Vibrant banners fluttered gently in the breeze, as if joyfully announcing the grand arrival of the Moonchase Festival.

A festive air unique to this time of year drifted through the streets like a soft mist, permeating every corner with warmth and cheer.

Pedestrians came and went in high spirits, laughter echoing along the stone paths. Smiles, bright and full of anticipation for the festival, lit up every face—some even brighter than the sun above.

High in the sky above the city stood the Jade Chamber, a majestic floating palace that exuded awe-inspiring grandeur.

Its intricate glazed tiles shimmered under the sunlight, refracting dazzling rays like thousands of tiny stars twinkling across the roof, making the structure seem even more mysterious and solemn.

Inside the Jade Chamber, a heavy silence hung like a tangible veil.

Ningguang, the reigning authority of Liyue, sat poised behind a finely carved desk. Her posture was elegant, her fair hands—smooth as white jade—gently supporting her chin. Her eyes, deep as still water, were fixed on the towering stack of documents in front of her.

A faint crease formed between her brows, a subtle mark of thoughtfulness. Clearly, her mind was immersed in some critical matter concerning Liyue's future development.

Nearby, her three capable aides—Baiwen, Baishi, and Baixiao—moved swiftly and gracefully about the chamber like nimble swallows.

Their every gesture was clean and efficient. As they sorted through documents and materials, not a single unnecessary sound escaped them. Only the occasional rustle of paper or the soft clink of porcelain could be heard in the otherwise silent hall.

Amid this solemn quiet, a crisp and melodic voice—clear as silver chimes, tinged subtly with concern—suddenly broke the silence.

"Baiwen, how are the preparations for the Moonchase Festival coming along?"

Baiwen, who had been fully absorbed in organizing documents, paused for a moment, clearly caught off guard by the sudden question.

But she quickly composed herself, straightening with a serious expression as she respectfully replied, "Yes, Lady Ningguang. Everything is ready. All celebratory events have been thoroughly planned, and the decorations are in place."

"We're now making final arrangements to ensure all required items are delivered precisely to their designated locations. We'll make sure the Moonchase Festival proceeds smoothly, living up to the high expectations of Liyue's citizens."

Ningguang gave a small nod, a hint of satisfaction flickering in her eyes as she gently closed the file in front of her.

But her gaze drifted toward the window, out across the endless expanse of sky. Her thoughts seemed to escape the confines of the Jade Chamber, floating toward the upcoming celebration—an event full of joy and peace.

After a moment, she let out a soft sigh.

"The Moonchase Festival, huh…"

The sigh was like a leaf falling on a still lake, stirring quiet ripples of emotion beneath the calm surface.

Just then, a series of rhythmic knocks came from the door.

Knock knock knock.

Ningguang straightened, returning to herself. "Come in," she said gently.

The door creaked open to reveal a familiar flash of violet hair—Keqing.

She stepped lightly into the room, every movement graceful but firm, her expression carrying a noticeable hint of cheer.

Seeing her, Ningguang raised an eyebrow. "Keqing? What brings you here?"

Keqing smiled, eyes sparkling with excitement. "Shajin says he's coming back for this year's Moonchase Festival."

"Oh—right!"

As if suddenly remembering something, Keqing produced a sealed envelope and handed it over. "Here, this is a letter he had someone deliver to you."

"Sha… Shajin?"

Ningguang quickly took the envelope, her fingers trembling slightly as she opened it.

The letter within was written in a bold but fluid hand. Its message read:

Dear Little Ningguang,

Hey! Long time no see—how have you been? Time really flies, doesn't it? In the blink of an eye, it's Moonchase Festival in Liyue again.

Such a grand occasion—it's impossible to resist the pull of home.

I've decided to return to Liyue to once again feel the warmth of our homeland. Oh! Almost forgot to mention something important.

This time, I won't be coming back alone. The Hydro Archon from Fontaine and the Dendro Archon from Sumeru will be coming with me~

They've heard tales of the Moonchase Festival and are brimming with curiosity and anticipation. They're eager to experience Liyue's rich traditions and festive spirit for themselves.

So, Little Ningguang, I hope you'll prepare a proper, grand welcome for them! Let them see firsthand the hospitality and reverence we Liyueans extend to honored guests.

With their presence, this year's festival will be even more colorful and exciting!

Looking forward to seeing you soon in Liyue and celebrating the festival together.

Wishing you all the best!

Ningguang: "?"

Fontaine's… Hydro Archon?!

Sumeru's… Dendro Archon?!

Ningguang pressed a hand to her forehead, visibly distressed.

Though it was Shajin bringing them, and she trusted he wouldn't have ill intentions, these were still archons—gods of their nations. For them to lower themselves to visit Liyue… there must be something critical behind it. Surely they weren't just here to have fun, right?!

Her brow tightened into a deep frown. She immediately stood and turned to Baiwen.

"Notify all relevant personnel at once. Prepare to receive honored guests. Also, reinforce all security around Liyue's borders. I want every precaution taken—nothing must go wrong."

Baiwen nodded and left promptly, wasting not a second.

In an instant, the once-quiet Jade Chamber shifted into high alert. Everyone moved quickly and purposefully, tension thick in the air as they scrambled to prepare for their divine visitors.

Keqing, watching the scene unfold, couldn't help but chuckle softly.

"Surprised, huh?"

Ningguang gave a wry smile and rubbed her forehead again. "More like shocked… but this is exactly the kind of thing that guy would pull."

Keqing leisurely settled onto a nearby sofa, one leg crossed over the other.

Her black tights clung snugly to her legs, perfectly outlining their graceful, alluring curves.

Ningguang returned to the window, her gaze once again drifting toward the horizon. Her heart was filled with anticipation for what lay ahead, but also tangled with unease.

The Moonchase Festival—Liyue's most cherished celebration—seemed destined this year to become a memory no one would ever forget.
