Chapter 150: Chapter 150: Kujou Sara's Curiosity

Gulp... gulp...

Yun Fan and Columbina sat across from each other, the table now littered with empty Fire-Water bottles.

"So? It's not too late to admit defeat," Yun Fan said after downing another bottle, letting out a small burp. He looked at the beautiful girl in front of him, who was only slightly slower than him, with a hint of surprise in his eyes.

"D-don't dream about it!" Columbina's cheeks were flushed red. She shook her head vigorously, trying to shake off the drunkenness and drowsiness creeping up on her. Even with her Fairy/Angel? constitution, the amount of Fire-Water she had consumed was starting to affect her consciousness.

Meanwhile, Yun Fan, the shameless outlander, had been using his powers to neutralize the effects of the alcohol from the very beginning. Now, he was still as composed as ever.

"Alright, Miss Columbina, you truly are a woman of strength. Today, I, Yun Fan, will risk my life to keep you company. Waiter, bring us ten more bottles of Fire-Water!"

"Uh... yes, honored guest."

The waiter, who had been standing by to attend to them, quickly responded. He couldn't help but wipe the sweat from his forehead. These two were truly something else. At this rate, they were going to drink the restaurant dry!

Clang, clang, clang...

On a small island at the edge of Ritou, the sound of clashing weapons echoed through the air. A group of Tenryou Commission soldiers, armed with spears, were engaged in a fierce battle with a group of ronin who had taken over the island. The sounds of battle cries filled the air, and the clash of flesh against blades produced a sickening rip. Blood and sweat mingled, life and death intertwined.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Two arrows made of lightning shot through the air, piercing the chests of two ronin with lightning speed.

"Ugh..." The ronin instinctively touched their bleeding chests. When they saw the blood on their hands, they fell to the ground with looks of unwillingness.

The woman who had fired the arrows showed no reaction to this scene. Her face remained cold as she drew her bowstring again.

"Ah!" "Damn it..." "I can't accept this!"...

Amidst the cries of pain, one ronin after another fell to the woman's arrows. Before long, only a few stronger ronin and a Kairagi: Fiery Might remained, struggling to hold their ground.

"Let me test my blade!" The Kairagi: Fiery Might's body ignited with flames, and a murky Pyro energy enveloped him, coating his blade.

"One strike is all it takes!" The Kairagi gripped his sword hilt tightly and swung it at the Tenryou Commission soldiers blocking his path. The burning flames and the blade's sharp edge combined to severely injure several soldiers in a single strike.

After the soldiers fell, the murky flames clung to their bleeding wounds like a curse, sizzling and emitting the smell of burning flesh.

Emboldened by his success, the Kairagi charged toward the woman with the bow. Faced with his fearless attack, the ordinary soldiers with their standard-issue weapons were no match.

In just a few blinks of an eye, the Kairagi was within striking distance of the woman, his blade aimed at her neck.

"Quick! Protect Lady Kujou Sara!" A soldier who seemed to be the leader shouted, rushing toward the Kairagi. However, everything happened in the blink of an eye. By the time the soldiers reacted, the Kairagi's blade was already descending.

Kujou Sara frowned slightly and quickly drew a short sword from her waist. At the same time, her Vision glowed, and Electro energy surged through the blade.

Whoosh—

The sound of a blade cutting through the air rang out as Kujou Sara met the Kairagi's strike with her own.

Clang— The blades collided, producing a grating metallic screech. Pyro and Electro energies clashed, resulting in a destructive explosion.

Using the force of the explosion, Kujou Sara leaped back. With a wave of her hand, two pairs of black wings, symbolizing her tengu heritage, appeared behind her. A terrifying Electro energy radiated from her.

"The path of eternity is vast, and the Narukami is eternal!"

With Kujou Sara's declaration, several bolts of lightning struck the Kairagi: Fiery Might, reducing him to a charred corpse.

"Ugh!" The Kairagi fell, his eyes wide with rage and unwillingness even in death.

With the Kairagi gone, Kujou Sara nocked her bow and fired several arrows, finishing off the remaining ronin.

"How are our casualties?" Kujou Sara frowned as she surveyed the gruesome scene of severed limbs and blood-soaked ground, her voice tinged with concern as she asked her adjutant.

"Lady Sara, several of our men are severely injured. They might not make it..." The adjutant glanced at the soldiers writhing in pain on the ground, his tone heavy as he saluted.

Hearing this, Kujou Sara personally went to check on their injuries before standing up in silence.

"Do everything you can to save them. If they don't make it, ensure their families are taken care of. They died for their country. Understood?"

"Yes, Lady Sara!"

...

After cleaning up the battlefield, Kujou Sara led the remaining soldiers back to Ritou. Her heart was heavy with sorrow. The severely injured soldiers had ultimately succumbed to their wounds, dying on that nameless island. It was a failure on her part as their commander.

As Kujou Sara brooded, she overheard the soldiers behind her whispering.

"Hey, look over there. That man and woman—see how beautiful the girl is? She looks drunk..."

"Tsk, she's absolutely stunning. Just seeing the veil on her face makes my heart skip a beat. If I could marry someone like that, I'd give up twenty years of my life."

"Only twenty? I'd give forty..."

Listening to the soldiers' chatter, Kujou Sara frowned. They were supposed to be in a somber mood, yet here they were gossiping. It seemed she would have to put them through some extra training when they got back.

Kujou Sara thought to herself, though she couldn't deny that she was also a bit curious about the gossip.

So, she turned her gaze in the direction the soldiers were looking...
