Galactic Beastmaster: SSS Tier Tamer System

Chapter 4: 4- The system - Part 2

Aiden's eyes narrowed as he stared at the young woman standing before him.

The dim light cast eerie shadows on her tattered clothing, and her sharp eyes mirrored his own cautious curiosity.

It was strange to find another human here, especially someone so clearly adapted to the harsh environment of the abandoned planet.

The puppy-sized beast from before crept out from behind her, its fur bristling as it growled softly, eyes locked on Aiden in warning.

He raised an eyebrow at the creature's protective stance. "Did you tame that thing?" he asked, curious.

Lana's eyes flashed with a mixture of suspicion and disdain.

"Tame? No, I don't have that ability. And if you're here looking for the lost art of taming beasts, you're out of luck," she snapped, crossing her arms. "That knowledge was lost a long time ago, along with the people who mastered it."

Aiden's heart skipped a beat. Lost art of taming beasts?

He glanced at Cammy, perched invisibly on his shoulder, and felt a chill run down his spine.

It seemed his SSS Tier Tamer System was something far more valuable and rare than he had realized.

Lana continued, her tone sharp. "The best you'll find here is understanding these beasts, maybe even surviving them, if you're lucky. But you won't find what you're looking for."

She shifted her stance, her muscles tensing as if preparing for a fight. "And if you want to live, you'll need to survive me first."

Before Aiden could react, Lana lunged at him, her movements quick and precise. He barely managed to sidestep her attack, raising his hands in a gesture of peace.

"Wait! I'm not here to hurt you," he said quickly. "I didn't even know you were here."

Lana's response was a flurry of strikes, each one forcing Aiden to backpedal. He could tell she wasn't listening, her mind set on eliminating him as a threat.

Despite his best efforts to defuse the situation, it was clear he wasn't getting through to her.

"Cammy," Aiden whispered, "we need to vanish."

Instantly, Cammy's camouflage ability enveloped them both, rendering them invisible.

Lana froze, her eyes widening in shock as Aiden seemed to vanish before her. She scanned the area, her breath quickening.

"What kind of outer-world technology are you using?" she hissed, her voice laced with fear and anger. "Is this magic?"

Aiden moved quietly around her, positioning himself for a non-lethal strike. He felt a pang of regret but knew he had no other choice.

In a swift motion, he struck the back of her neck, rendering her unconscious. Lana crumpled to the ground, and the puppy-sized beast let out a startled yelp.

"Sorry," Aiden murmured, crouching down to bind Lana's wrists gently. He made sure she was breathing steadily before turning his attention to the beast.

It growled lowly but didn't attempt to flee, seemingly understanding that its master was unharmed.

"You too, little guy," Aiden said softly, securing the creature without harming it. "I don't want to hurt either of you. I just need answers."

As he sat back, Aiden glanced at Lana, her face peaceful in unconsciousness. Questions swirled in his mind. Who was she? How had she survived here, and what did she mean by the lost art of taming beasts?

More importantly, her presence confirmed something he had begun to suspect: this planet wasn't as devoid of intelligent life as the rest of the universe believed.

There was more to this place, hidden secrets that might change everything he knew.

Aiden leaned against the wall, his thoughts racing.

The system had brought him here for a reason, and now, with Lana and her mysterious knowledge, he was more determined than ever to uncover the truth. But first, he needed to gain her trust.

"System," Aiden said quietly, "how can I ensure they understand I'm not a threat?"

"Building trust requires demonstrating non-hostile intentions and providing aid when possible," the AI advised. "You may need to protect them from further threats to prove your sincerity."

Aiden nodded, his resolve hardening. He would protect Lana and her beast, no matter what came next. Together, they might just unlock the secrets of this planet—and the ancient art of taming beasts.

As Aiden moved cautiously through the abandoned station, his eyes scanned the shadows for any signs of movement. The system had made it clear that gaining experience was crucial, and every encounter with the wild beasts here could be a step toward becoming stronger.

It wasn't long before Aiden spotted a small creature lurking near a pile of debris. The beast was no larger than a household cat but had sharp, gleaming teeth and claws that betrayed its ferocity. Its eyes glinted with a predatory gleam as it sniffed the air, sensing his presence.

Aiden hesitated. The thought of ending the creature's life tugged at his conscience, a pang of guilt stirring within him. But the system's cold, logical voice echoed in his mind, reminding him of the necessity of his actions.

As if sensing his hesitation, the small beast snarled and lunged at him, claws outstretched. Instinctively, Aiden dodged to the side, drawing his blade in one fluid motion. The creature turned, quick and agile, preparing for another attack.

This time, Aiden was ready. As the beast lunged again, he struck, his blade finding its mark. The creature let out a final, pained cry before falling still.

Panting slightly, Aiden wiped the sweat from his brow. The system chimed, acknowledging his first bit of experience gained. Yet, it was clear from the minimal progress bar that he was still far from leveling up.

"It's a start," Aiden muttered to himself, glancing down at the beast. The guilt lingered, but the knowledge that survival demanded such actions hardened his resolve.

He needed to keep moving, to find more opportunities to grow stronger.

"First, let's try and find more civilizations and level up as much as I can. Once I have enough, I can try and find my way off this planet and back to the mainland."
