From Earth to Infinity: A Second Chance

Chapter 65: Final preparations

As we reached home, my mom rushed toward us in a flurry of concern. I could see the worry etched on her face as she enveloped both Sasuke and me in a tight hug.

"Where have you two been? Do you have any idea how worried I was?" she scolded, her voice trembling slightly with anxiety.

Then, we entered the house, and I immediately called out, "Mom, I'm really hungry."

She sighed, but a small smile tugged at her lips. "Alright, Naruto. Sasuke, you too, freshen up, and I'll get some food ready."

We headed to the washroom to wash up while Mom went into the kitchen to prepare a meal. A few minutes later, we gathered around the dining table, the aroma of freshly cooked food filling the air.

"Here you go," Mom said as she placed the dishes in front of us. We eagerly started digging in, our hunger making us devour everything at a rapid pace.

"Slow down, you two. You'll choke if you're not careful," she chuckled, watching us with a blend of amusement and affection.

As the initial hunger wore off, I looked up at her, my expression turning serious. "Mom, there's something I need to tell you," I began, my voice steady but firm. "It's a secret I've been keeping from you for a long time…"

She paused, her smile fading as she saw the serious look on my face. "What is it, Naruto?"

I took a deep breath, glancing briefly at Sasuke before turning back to her. It was time to reveal the truth I had kept hidden, no matter how difficult it might be for her to hear.

We laid everything out for Mom—the truth about the Uchiha, the elders, and even the details surrounding Father's death. As she listened, her expression shifted from shock to anger, her fists clenching tightly at her sides. The weight of each revelation seemed to settle heavily on her, and I could see the hurt in her eyes as she processed everything.

At first, she struggled to contain her emotions, her voice trembling with a mix of outrage and disbelief. "Why didn't you tell me any of this sooner, Naruto? How could you keep such things hidden?" she demanded, her tone filled with hurt.

I glanced down, feeling the guilt wash over me. "I'm sorry, Mom… I thought it was the only way to protect everyone. I didn't want you to worry, and there were so many risks."

As the anger began to fade, tears welled up in her eyes, and soon, she was crying softly. The realization of how much I had endured, carrying these burdens alone, seemed to overwhelm her. "You… you didn't have to bear all of this on your own," she whispered, her voice breaking.

Seeing her like this made my heart ache. "I'm sorry, Mom," I repeated, feeling a lump in my throat. "But I promise, things will change now."

"Mom, there's one favor I'd like to ask you," I said, my tone serious but hopeful.

She gave me a reassuring smile. "I'm your mom, Naruto. You can ask me anything."

"Please contact Tsunade,Jiraya and ask them to attend the finals next week," I requested. "I'm planning to reveal everything to the village then. She deserves to know the truth—that the person they once thought of as a mentor betrayed everyone who had helped the village."

Mom's eyes widened slightly, but she nodded in understanding, recognizing the importance of the request.

"And one more thing," I continued, meeting her gaze. "Either you or Tsunade should be the next Hokage. The village needs a leader it can trust, and both of you have the strength and wisdom to guide it. I want you both to decide who should take on that responsibility."

She looked taken aback, as if the weight of what I was asking had just hit her. "Naruto… that's a huge decision," she replied, her voice filled with emotion. "But if it's for the good of the village, I'll talk to Tsunade and we'll figure out what needs to be done."

"Thank you, Mom," I said softly, feeling a sense of relief. We were finally taking steps toward setting things right.

With everything sorted out with Mom, I felt a weight lift off my shoulders, and my heart seemed a little lighter. "Thank you, Mom," I said, grateful for her understanding.

She gave me a gentle smile. "Alright, now hurry up and finish eating. Then get some rest—you both need to be ready for the big event coming up."

"Okay, Mom," I replied.

Sasuke and I finished our meal and headed to bed. We needed all the rest we could get, with the finals approaching and the weight of our plan on our minds.

As we drifted off to sleep, I knew Mom was still processing everything she had just learned. There was so much happening around her, and it wasn't easy to accept that the village she had always trusted had such dark secrets. But now, with the truth out in the open and a plan in motion, we could finally move forward together.

The days ahead would be challenging, but we were ready to face them as a family.
