Chapter 13: Chapter 12: Returning to Spirit Hall
The mists of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well gradually began to settle as Qian Renxue oversaw the final preparations. Chrysanthemum Douluo carefully packed the harvested herbs, wrapping each one in spirit-sealing cloths under her watchful eye. Poison Douluo had already secured the Land Dragon Golden Melon for Dugu Yan, its earthy radiance safely sealed. The rest of the site remained untouched—preserved, as Qian Renxue had commanded.
This place was no longer just a mysterious landform hidden in Sunset Forest. It was now Spirit Hall's greatest secret, a treasure trove that would ensure their supremacy for generations. A place which supply immortal herbs.
As they finished packing and sealed the perimeter with formation arrays to obscure the well's presence, Qian Renxue finally stood at the edge one last time, her purple eyes reflecting both the fire and ice swirling below.
She had arrived here in desperation—racing against the unknown force that had been seeded in her soul. The Seed of the Almighty, transferred by Adam, threatened to consume her mere hours ago. The hours had been frantic, survival her only goal.
But now... she had space to breathe.
There was still a lingering chill deep in her spirit, a reminder that the danger hadn't passed—but it was no longer urgent. She had bought herself time. And time, in this world, was everything.
Qian Renxue did not try the the Ice and Fire Body Tempering herself as done by Tang san in the original story.
The immortal herbs Infernal Delicate Apricot was born in the ultimate hotness of ice and fire yin yang well and the octagonal Mysterious ice grass which was born in the ultimate coldness of ice and fire yin yang well. Refining these 2 herbs which contain extreme but opposite attributes will make one's body impervious to fire and ice.
However, No matter how powerful her soul, her physique could not yet withstand the simultaneous onslaught of the two opposing herbs.
Though she possessed the memories and spirit of another life, her current body was still that of a five-year-old child.
Perhaps in the future, when her body was ready, she might use them. But with the present condition she might have to walk on the path of Beyonder. Or maybe a path Hybrid of Soul Master and Beyonder.
She turned away from the well.
Poison Douluo and Chrysanthemum Douluo walked behind her, their breakthroughs freshly attained and their loyalty reaffirmed. Yet, despite his newfound alliance with Spirit Hall, Dugu Bo's allegiance would remain a secret for now.
The world still recognized him as a enshrined elder of the Heaven Dou Empire, granted that status years ago after Prince Xue Xing had helped him to come out from a pinch. Publicly defecting now would raise suspicions and waste a valuable asset in political maneuvering.
"You don't need to publically declare that you have joined the Spirit Hall. You will be given an elder position in Elder Palace. I won't interefere in your freedom and other personal matters," Qian Renxue had told him before they departed.
'The value of a hidden piece on the board is often greater than one placed openly.'
Dugu Bo thanked Qian Renxue again very profusely .
Poison Douluo had bowed deeply, thanking Qian Renxue profusely once more. He pledged to guard and care for the herb garden, treating it as a sacred duty.
With everything in place, Qian Renxue, Qian Daoliu, and Chrysanthemum Douluo finally departed. Once they reached the edge of Sunset Forest, they quietly rented a carriage for their return journey.
This time, there was no need for haste.
The pressure of racing against destruction had lifted, and for the first time in a long while, Qian Renxue could sit back and think.
Chrysanthemum Douluo, ever the herb enthusiast, kept excitedly checking the spirit ring that stored the herbs. His eyes sparkled with disbelief and joy, still marveling that he had actually laid eyes upon such legendary treasures..
As the forest gave way to open roads and the sky began to darken with the gentle hues of dusk, Qian Renxue leaned against the window of the carriage, her gaze distant.
Now that the immediate crisis because of the seed of power within her soul had passed, and the murmurs had been quieted, another question began to rise in her heart—a question that could not be ignored.
What was her path?
Would she walk the path of a Soul Master, climbing steadily in strength through rings, techniques, and cultivation?
Would she risk stepping into the forbidden and arcane mysteries of the Beyonder, invoking ancient powers that defied the logic of spirit beasts and rings?
Or would she forge something new—a hybrid path, a fusion of Soul Master foundation and the supernatural depths of the Beyonder system?
She did not yet know.
The answer was hidden beyond the veil of time and experience, waiting to be uncovered through trials, study, and instinct. Power without understanding was a greater threat than weakness.
And so, Qian Renxue let the thought drift away, storing it in the depths of her mind.
There would be time to research, to learn, and to choose she thought.
The carriage rolled on slowly, the wheels crunching over gravel and dirt roads, drawing them closer and closer to Spirit Hall.
And thus, the next chapter of Qian Renxue's destiny quietly began.
