Chapter 11: Can you truly escape the past?
"Riverdilly". Once the town that raised him that now returns as a place he might have to go against. Bittersweet moments, companionship, reality, basically everything that made him who he is now flashed in his mind but amongst those memories he didn't seem to remember the face of a person in specific. The face of the girl who changed a part in him. But she now felt like a fever dream which his mind was refusing to remember at all. " Who was she? What was her name? And why do I feel this weird sensation in my chest? Well if I don't remember her then it mustn't be that big of a deal." Adon claimed as he shook away the feeling.
The next few days were a blur. Preparation for the departure, soldiers hurrying from here to there and him with Vincent planning for their mission. A group of roughly 10-12 men who were part of the infiltration mission were gathered up in a conference room. "Riverdilly is not a hot topic amongst tourists so going there as visitors will only raise suspicions. so we'll be going undercover as a NGO which has the objective of coming up with medicinal support which will be donated to various orphanages. How does that sound? And well I'm damm sure AHL will not refuse this opportunity to advertise their already famous image. " Vincent interrupted," Do you really think we can fool the CEO of AHL? c'mon Adon get serious this is no child's play-"
"And we are not children. Did you really think that this was all there is to my plan? hah it seems like prison time has made your brain a bit dumber. Yes their CEO is a cunning bastard but the people under him who manage their organization are definetely not. And it seems like the intelligence department has a lot of dirt on
a few of them, isn't that so Mellisa?
" A woman in her late 20's walked up to the table from the corner of the room her short deep brunette hair that complemented her pale, nonchalant face. She fixed her square shaped glasses which were covering her soulless black eyes. She nodded towards Adon as she placed her laptop in front of Vincent. He started at the screen in shock as his ears turned red in embarrassment. "So, how does this child's play sound to you now?" Adon mocked him. Vincent controlled his urge to punch Adon right in the face as he reluctantly gave him a smile of approval. He grinned with pleasure. Just as he was about to finish the last minute revision of their plan a soldier entered the room. "Hey, the transports are ready for departure, we leave in 20 minutes".
The squad got ready to leave at Adon's signal. The room went silent and Vincent walked up to Adon. " Messing around with me isn't going to help you Adon. You know that I can shove that attitude of yours right up your ass right? Vincent cackled as bumped Adon's shoulder ," You should see the look on your face! You know I was kidding right, or was I? we're gonna be late if you keep standing there like statue" Adon grinned as he saw Vincent stride away "Hah, arrogant much?"
Two buses with NGO symbols all over them stood outside the tunnel entrance covered around with vegetation growing all over it. The previously armed soldiers were disguised in NGO uniforms and we ready to leave the facility. Adon sighed heavily as he got in the bus. He had bleached his dark black hair to a completely new shade of brown and got himself a pair of square framed glasses as to slightly change his appearance. The bus finally opened up into the forest trail from the seemingly endless tunnel. The physiography of this region provided the perfect defense to the military headquarters. The roads, the highways and almost every connecting routes were mostly empty due to the military law and army barriers camped up everywhere. Only the capital cities weren't in a partial lockdown by the martial law. But for the rest of the cities, freedom seemed like an exclusive luxury.
The squad had reached their destination by sunrise. Adon stepped out the bus and was taken aback by the enormous facility his eyes darted upon. The facility was partitioned in two main buildings which covered an entire sector respectively. They were about 20 stories tall, and it seemed like there were no windows or any sort of glass structures on the left building. Surprisingly the drivethrough itself looked unreal covered in
lucious green. Two figures cloaked in lab coats walked towards the gate. One of them inched towards Adon, "You must be the representatives from the NGO.
Welcome to Aiding hopes lab." Adon smiled as knew that their mission was now set in motion.
