Forest Ranger, starting from Picking Up a Lynx Girl

Chapter 203: Heavenly Divine Weapon

After apologizing to his companion, Chen Ying took Jinya and Little Jin into his own tent.

"How did you two get over here?"

"Awooooo, we were worried about you being here alone. Would those two-legged beasts bully you?"

"No, they won't, I appreciate your concern, Jinya."

Chen Ying scratched Jinya's chin, feeling comforted in his heart.

"We're planning to go up the mountain in a couple of days to see Jinya's brother."

It was February now, right in the middle of the lynx mating season.

Jinya wasn't much older than the little lynx, and strictly speaking, she was already of age to become a mother. Still, it seemed she hadn't quite figured things out yet, and Chen wondered if she ever would in this lifetime.

Chen Ying was already quite worried about Mr. Lepus, and hearing that Jinya wanted to go up the mountain with Little Jin, he looked at Little Jin worriedly.

"Can you handle it?"

Last time Little Jin went to see Mr. Lepus, he nearly met his end. Perhaps this time could be a bit better?

Little Jin bounced on the spot, indicating his body was in perfect shape and he would definitely be able to accompany Jinya up and back without any issues.

"Alright then, could you also help check on Leopard Sister's brother while you're there? That leopard is such a blockhead, I'm not sure if he's found himself a mate this year."

Leopards can mate all year round at altitudes around 2000 meters, but that leopard decided to live at an altitude of 4000 meters to avoid the little iron fists of love from his sister and brother-in-law, and it's unknown whether there are any female leopards around there.

It wasn't even light yet when Jinya and Little Jin set off on their journey.

The two nimbly vanished into the jungle as envious night-time pals asked Chen Ying how he managed to build such a good relationship with these little elves.

It was a joke to call Chen Ying a Druid, but everyone knew that couldn't be possible; he must have some special cat-petting skills!

What could Chen Ying do but laugh and claim it was a natural talent, with no skill involved, all based on affection?

After spending two days with the research team and making sure they were familiar with the surrounding environment, Chen Ying packed up his tent and returned to the rescue station.

Before he could even put his stuff down, the phone rang at the rescue station; it was a Forest Patrol Officer from the neighboring reserve who had found the body of a dead monkey in Hot Spring Gully.

Chen Ying, along with a group of muscular young helpers, rushed over immediately. By the time they arrived, the two Forest Patrol Officers had already placed the monkey's body into a special bag.

"Looking at this wound, it seems to have been mauled by a predator and then drowned."

After examining it, Chen Ying shook his head, "This bite mark, the pattern of mauling, and the area bitten... It should be the work of a leopard."

"Brother Ying, don't you have four leopards over there? This one..."

"It wasn't Brother Leopard or Leopard Sister who did this." Chen Ying instructed the muscular young helper to make a note while explaining to the ranger.

"Looking at the bite holes and the size, it was a male leopard. Brother Leopard isn't interested in monkeys, and he knows this troop of monkeys is acquainted with me; he wouldn't deliberately provoke them."

Chen Ying picked up the binoculars and carefully searched the area, spotting fresh claw marks on a tree at a nearby cliff.

"These claw marks were left by a leopard. It looks like it tried to prey on the monkey, and after the monkey was bitten, it fell into the pool."

As for why the leopard didn't follow into the water to drag the monkey out and eat it, it's possible its behavior angered the troop, and the other monkeys drove it away with attacks from a distance.

The messy remains of the fruit here seemed to prove his speculation.

"We just checked the infrared camera footage up there and didn't find any trace of the leopard. Either this leopard came up from below, or it smartly moved through the treetops, deftly avoiding the camera's range."

"Did you see the footage of the panda?"

"Yes, we saw four, definitely different individuals."

There was an extra one? Chen Ying was a bit curious and checked the Forest Patrol Officer's phone; sure enough, besides the familiar Big Ears and the young male panda, as well as Foodie Fu, there was also a lone panda that had appeared on camera.

Thinking of Foodie Fu, Chen Ying suddenly remembered that Daddy Xu had always been following Foodie Fu, could he know where this Flower Leopard came from?

A phone call later, Daddy Xu did indeed see that Flower Leopard, but the leopard had only glanced at him from afar in a tree before running away.

"Coming from the southwest direction? Okay, if you see the Flower Leopard again next time, please give me a call. Also, the Forest Patrol Officer here has found another panda, but we don't currently know the sex, so Brother Xu, please pay extra attention too."

What if it's a male panda? What if it catches Foodie Fu's eye? They should at least know who the father of Foodie Fu's cubs is.

The Forest Patrol Officer took away the body of the monkey, and Chen Ying, along with the tattoo-armed young man, headed to Hot Spring Gully to see if the monkey troop had moved up there.

"Two-legged beast, two-legged beast, I know where those monkeys are."

A familiar voice rang out; Chen Ying looked up to see the couple of White-collared Kingfishers.

"What are you two doing here? Did you see the monkeys?"

The tattoo-armed young man's eyes widened in disbelief as he looked back and forth between Chen Ying and the two little birds.

With a gesture from Chen Ying, the two birds flew down and perched on his arm.

"They're over there in the woods, guarding that four-legged beast. It looks just like the ones you raise."

The monkey troop guarding the Flower Leopard?

Chen Ying sucked in a breath of cold air and gave the tattoo-armed young man a glance before decisively waving him away.

It wasn't long before Xia Sen and Duanmu, as well as Old Gao, came over.

The stern young man stayed at the emergency station to accompany Xiao Song.

"It's very likely that the Flower Leopard bit the monkey, and while the others were trying to save their companion, the injured monkey accidentally fell into the water and drowned. Now, the monkey troop probably wants to take revenge on the Flower Leopard. We can't intervene, but we can stay on guard in case they need rescue later."

This troop was macaques, which are quite fierce; they aren't as docile as Tibetan Chief Monkeys or Golden Snub-Nosed Monkeys and usually don't interact much with Chen Ying.

Following the bird couple's lead, the group located the shadow of the monkey troop. When the drone was sent out, indeed, it captured the scene of over a hundred macaques surrounding a Flower Leopard.

If this could be live-streamed, with the title 'Second Nation surrounds First Nation,' I wonder if it would get blocked.

Chen Ying and the rest were now in a dilemma about whether or not to save the Flower Leopard. And if they did save the Flower Leopard, should the monkeys turn their wrath on them, whether the emergency station could withstand the attack of the macaque troop.

The competition in nature is very cruel, and they usually don't intervene, but from what they see now, if they don't step in, the Flower Leopard is likely done for.

The group stepped back, exchanged looks, and ultimately could only cover their eyes in distress, pretending not to see.

The drone continued to film. Just when the macaques were about to launch their attack, a cry of an eagle came from the sky, and a pair of iron claws descended from above, snatching a monkey climbing down a tree into the skies.

"My God, is this what they call 'divine intervention'?"

The monkeys were attacked by the Golden Eagle, and their formation was thrown into disarray.

Especially the younger ones, they immediately sprang up into the trees, vigilantly eying the large bird circling above.

In this moment of chaos, the Flower Leopard spotted an opening and burst out from the encirclement of monkeys.
