Flashy Adventurer System : Show Off to Get Stronger!

Chapter 426: Infiltration

*WHISTLE~*

A strange whistle with a very specific rhythm sounded from outside the lair, prompting Shye to swiftly stand up and peer out of a small opening in the Camouflage Camp.

'Hoh? Are they finally meeting up with this darned monster?' Shye mused as he observed the False Gorgon slither out of its lair with an excited expression.

He didn't know whether the creature was truly meeting up with the people supporting it but Shye had no choice but to see what it was up to.

Hence, he swiftly left the Small Camouflage Camp and followed the False Gorgon.

Luckily, his guess proved to be correct as upon peering out from behind the natural rocky walls of the lair, he saw two adventurers.

One was male, the other female, and both appeared to be just slightly older than Shye, perhaps around twenty-five or twenty-six years old.

The young man was short, with long black hair and a scholarly build, while the young woman, with her short red hair and hulking physique, seemed more like a small giant.

As Shye crept closer to listen to the interaction between the Gorgon and the two adventurers, his eyes widened in surprise upon seeing the monstrous creature bowing to the two young humans.

It appeared that the False Gorgon recognized it was receiving covert assistance and was willing to cooperate in pursuit of a goal which was probably to evolve into a True Gorgon.

However, Shye couldn't determine what the adventurers or the group behind them were aiming for.

"Hmmph…still no new additions? Tch…the boss would be unhappy again. Well, fine. Since you captured a nice gem two days ago, the boss shall give you three more days to capture a new one. Do you understand? Three!

Like this, three!" The young woman spoke in a disrespectful tone, emphasizing the number three with her fingers to ensure the Gorgon understood.

The meeting was short, after relaying a message, the two adventurers left.

"Tch, if only the boss would take me as his addition!"

"Hah! You? How would the boss fancy you? You might crush him with your overgrown body at night!"

"Wha–? You damn midget! Just because you can't get laid, don't hate on fragile young women like me!"

"Hah! You? Fragile? What part of you is related to the word fragile?! A-A-Also, I-I have experience already! Y-You dare underestimate me, Gorilla?!"

Watching the two disrespectful young humans walk away, the subservient look on the Gorgon's face turned into one of vengeful hatred.

It then returned to the lair while daydreaming about the day it could finally go its own way after evolving into a True Gorgon.

Unfortunately, that day was destined to never come as its vision suddenly turned upside down, making it confused as to why it was seeing its own body.

Shortly after, it saw green blood spurt out of its headless neck, allowing it to realize that it had been decapitated without it even knowing.

The False Gorgon wanted to at least see the face of its assailant. Stay updated through empire

Luckily, before it was swallowed by eternal oblivion, the dying monstrous creature caught a glimpse of the familiar face of an ashen-haired young man it once deemed its prey.

Its consciousness, which was on a ticking time, didn't manage to comprehend the situation fast enough though, hence, it died with regrets.

As for Shye, he naturally didn't care about the feelings of some random monstrous creature destined to be a stepping stone in his career.

Instead, he cared more about the two youngsters, who were seemingly a part of some kind of organization.

'Are they from that terrorist organization Hadean Varsa?' Shye mused as he swiftly retrieved the Small Camouflage Camp from the lair before swiftly following the two youngsters from a safe distance.

After approximately six hours of navigating various landforms and hidden paths, Shye and the two youngsters finally arrived at a barren valley where the two adventurers surveyed their surroundings before heading toward a specific area.

Then, as the tall young woman pressed her hand on a specific spot, another seal lit up, which the short young man proceeded to activate.

Initially, nothing happened, but after around thirty seconds, a small entrance fit for two opened somewhere on the ground.

'Hoh, so you need two people to enter their hideout, huh?' Shye mused as he swiftly moved closer. 'These guys probably always move in pairs.'

Waiting for the prime moment to strike, Shye hid behind a thick dead tree, observing the two youngsters who were also observing their surroundings before entering the hideout.

'Now!'

Dashing out of the tree, Shye's ambush failed as he was somehow noticed by the scholarly young man.

"Varie! Someone followed us!" The young man exclaimed, prompting the young giantess to turn her head towards Shye.

"Hohoho, this one looks exactly my type!" Varie laughed excitedly before dashing towards Shye to intercept him.

Judging the ashen-haired younger man in front of her, the giantess believed that she would easily overpower him.

Brandishing her enormous glaive towards the ashen-haired young man, Varie licked her lips, only for reality to slap her the next moment.

As the massive glaive clashed with two huge greatswords, a nauseating crack sounded followed by a harrowing scream of agony from a young girl.

Naturally, the noise startled the young man casting a spell behind Varie.

Unfortunately, promptly after he opened his eyes, he was greeted by Adamance's sharp blades.

Shortly after, the mage breathed no more as his head split horizontally into two parts while his body fell half-face first to the ground—twitching.

Witnessing the death of her comrade who she had been partners with for two years, the giantess wanted to scream in both fear and slight loneliness.

At that moment, she looked as fragile as she claimed.

However, even screaming was a luxury that she wasn't allowed to have as Shye reappeared beside her and chopped her neck, making her eyes roll up and knocking her out cold.

Then, without hesitation, he grabbed the giantess by her broken arm and ruthlessly pulled her inside the hideout.

After all, he didn't know if the gates would shut on him; hence, he decided to enter first to be safe.

'Phew…a little clumsy but…infiltration complete, I guess.'
