Chapter 664 - 664: Don't you want to see him?

Chapter 664: Don’t you want to see him?

The flight that Wen Ran and Qin Mu would take was scheduled to depart at 10:15 in the morning.

She phoned Qing Feng, explaining that she had to go on a sudden business trip for a few days and that she would head straight to the airport from the factory. Qing Feng shouldn’t bother fetching her.

Qing Feng didn’t inquire much. Given her past experience with business trips, he easily believed her.

As soon as Wen Ran exited the office building, she saw Qin Mu’s towering figure standing far off at the factory gate. Standing by a black Mercedes, she licked her lips and accelerated her steps towards the factory entrance.

Qin Mu was supposed to arrive in G City the previous night, but an unforeseen issue had arisen. He called Wen Ran, asking her to wait for him while he hurried back that morning.

It was only upon drawing near that she noticed a heavy fatigue in his demeanor.

Wen Ran felt a pang in her heart and a trace of concern appeared on her face, she asked him worriedly, “Qin Mu, did you stay up all night?”

Qin Mu smiled faintly. After opening the car door for her, he nonchalantly replied, “Something came up last night, so I didn’t have time to sleep.”

Wen Ran’s worried expression crumpled in worry. She chided him, “If you haven’t slept all night, why didn’t you tell me? I could’ve booked a later flight so you could’ve gotten some sleep.”

She paused momentarily before reaching for her phone, “No, I’ll cancel our flight tickets first. You should get some rest.”

“Wen Ran, it’s not necessary.”

Seeing her frowning and pulling out her mobile phone to call, Qin Mu was involuntarily warmed by the sight. Just before she dialed, he extended a hand to hold her wrist. His handsome face remained impassive, but his right arm slightly tightened.

Wen Ran looked at him with surprise and calmly stated, “It wouldn’t matter much if we head to D Country a day later.”

“Don’t you want to see Mo Xiuchen? We don’t need to change our flight. I could sleep in the car and continue sleeping on the plane.”

A light smile emerged on Qin Mu’s face, in his eyes, a stern gaze that left no room for objection.

Wen Ran glanced at the driver in the cockpit. She figured he wouldn’t have to drive and he could indeed sleep on the plane later, so she finally nodded. Bending down, she climbed onto the car.

After Qin Mu closed the door for her, he went around the car and sat in the front passenger seat.

On the journey to the airport, Qin Mu rested with his eyes closed while the driver concentrated on driving the car in silence. Leaning a little to the side, Wen Ran silently watched the window view; her thoughts had, however, already drifted across the Pacific Ocean…

Shen Yuting had to return home unexpectedly. The night before, she had brought home a medical record and had forgotten to bring it to the hospital the next day. Only when she arrived at the hospital did she remember it was missing. She immediately drove back home.

Upon unlocking and opening the door, she heard Jiang Liu talking on the phone in the bedroom. As the sound drifted into her ears, Shen Yuting’s face turned deathly pale.

“Cheng Jia, last time I told you that Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran were in A City. It’s your own fault for not seizing the opportunity. Now that Mo Xiuchen has left for D Country, Wen Ran is alone in G City. Whatever you want to do with her is your business, stop pestering me. I won’t agree to anything for you again.”

“If you dare to mess with Shen Yuting, I’ll make you regret it…”

Jiang Liu turned around when he heard a noise behind him, only to see Shen Yuting standing at the door. His face immediately changed, “Shen Yuting, when did you come back?”

With that, he hastily ended his call with Cheng Jia and hurried over to Shen Yuting. He reached out to take her hand, but was stopped by her cold rebuke.

“Don’t touch me!”

Her voice was piercingly cold, like an icy knife to the heart. Watching Shen Yuting’s icy, furious gaze, his mind was buzzing. She must have heard what he was saying, so he hurriedly explained, “Shen Yuting, it’s not what you think. Will you listen to my explanation?”

Shen Yuting bit her lip and said coldly, “Jiang Liu, I was wrong to trust you. Between us, it’s over.”

After speaking, she ripped off the platinum necklace he gave her and flung it at him in anger. She quickly picked up her documents and stormed off.

Jiang Liu was struck speechless by her words. He stood frozen as the necklace hit his face and fell. The searing pain on his face was nothing compared to the pain he felt when Shen Yuting stormed out of the apartment. He impulsively reached out and held her from behind.

“Shen Yuting, you can’t leave. It’s really not as you heard.”

“Let me go!”

Shen Yuting growled in anger, unable to control her tears. How could he do this to her? Just when she decided to trust him and was working to love him, he was helping Cheng Jia torment her cousin and the man she once loved dearly.

Despite her struggle, Jiang Liu held her tightly, babbling, “Shen Yuting, I did not help Cheng Jia harm Wen Ran and Mo Xiuchen…”

Before he could finish, Shen Yuting had already bit his hand hard.

He grunted from the pain but did not relax his grip. Shen Yuting bit down again, tasting the metallic taste of blood in her mouth. He still did not let go. Eventually, she let go.

“Jiang Liu, let me go.”

As she cried out, her tone wasn’t as sharp as before but carried a hint of exhaustion. The painful voice starkly contrasted with her previous tone, stirring a greater ache in Jiang Liu’s heart.

“Shen Yuting, I can’t let go. I love you.”

Jiang Liu turned her around and bent over to kiss her lips.

Shen Yuting struggled and stomped him hard with her high heels. The pain caused him to wince and let out a low whine.

Finally, she broke free from him, took the medical records, and rushed out of the apartment.

She was heading to D Country once again. But this time, Wen Ran’s emotions were entirely different from her previous trip.

After boarding the plane, Qin Mu exchanged a few words with Wen Ran before she urged him to sleep first. He appeared truly fatigued, his face slightly pale. He nodded and closed his eyes.

Sat alone, Wen Ran gazed out at the clouds, her mind filled with thoughts of Mo Xiuchen and their past interactions. All the memories were precious and beautiful.

A wave of exhaustion hit her as she finished reminiscing. Seeing the other passengers asleep, she too closed her eyes.

Having a lot on her mind made for fitful sleep. She had a dream and woke up. After drinking some water, she closed her eyes again and continued to sleep.

Only when the airplane’s broadcast sounded did she wake up once more.

She turned her head to see Qin Mu, seated beside her, still sleeping. Her brows furrowed as she regarded his slightly reddened handsome face. After a moment’s hesitation, she lightly reached out to touch his forehead. Instantly, the burning temperature frightened her and she paled.

She grabbed his hand only to find his palm equally hot. At that moment, she felt a tightening sensation in her chest and gently woke him up, “Qin Mu, wake up, you have a fever.”

The airplane cabin was silent, with all the passengers asleep. Despite Wen Ran speaking softly, her voice was clearly audible. Qin Mu, through the soft coaxing and gentle shaking, slowly opened his eyes.

His usually clear and sharp eyes were now filled with an unexpected sleepiness and haziness. The throbbing headache caused him to furrow his brows slightly, “Wen Ran?”
