FLASH MARRIAGE; CHARMED BY THE RUTHLESS BILLIONAIRE CEO

Chapter 290: A Heartless Uncle

Blaze calmly explained the reports he received from his strike ghost team to his alarmed wife.

"Sweet heaven!" Amelia cupped her mouth with trembling hands.

"Was that the main reason for the military escorts?"

Blaze nodded his head in reply.

"This is the reason why you can't come back here again. It's not safe in this country or this city. They have eyes and ears everywhere and we are yet to fully decode their entire mode of operation. I can't give you all the scary details but you need to know that lives are at stake. If anything ever happened to you and Mom, then my life will be over."

Amelia could feel the desperation and fear lacing her husband's voice. She knew this was serious but then who was this enemy that wanted her and her husband eliminated and why?

"Have you uncovered their identity?"

Blaze exhaled, nodding his head slowly.

"Not all of them. But one of them is someone you know. Someone who has tried to hurt you on several occasions. Someone you've put behind bars?"

Amelia's eyes widened. "Regina!"

"More like her lover."

"Uncle Matt!" Amelia whispered in astonishment.

Blaze did not like the fact that Amelia still addressed him as an uncle. But he didn't comment on it immediately.

"Yes. Matt Shawls, working in collaboration with a dangerous syndicate called the Medusa are the ones responsible for everything happening to us, including the explosion at the gold mining sight, the attempted murder in here, this recent attempted assassination and guess what else..."

Blaze paused dramatically, looking into Amelia's horror-filled eyes.

"Gwen's pregnancy termination."

"Oh my god!" Amelia half screamed, her dilated pupils almost bulging out.

"That exactly how ruthless that monster is even to his own biological daughter."

Amelia felt as though someone had dropped dynamite on the centre of her head, causing her entire world to explode into millions of fragments.

She felt numb for a few seconds, barely hearing anything her husband was saying even though his lips were moving and his hands cuddling her.

Her heart was pounding so hard and loudly in her ear as the image of Matt's evil face crippled her senses.

"How can Uncle Matt do all of these wicked things?"

Blaze gritted his teeth in rage as he didn't see this monster as a worthy uncle to his wife.

"He's not your uncle anymore, my love. He is the devil and we need to send him back to hell where he belongs."

"But he'll be out of prison in less than a week. I have just made a huge mistake, agreeing to Nana's pleas." Amelia lamented, holding her head which felt as though it was about to explode.

"Calm down my darling and take a deep breath." Blaze pulled Amelia up to her feet and held her tenderly in his arms.

"You didn't make any mistake. That is exactly where we want him. Inside that prison cell, he is fortified and secured. But out in the open, he is vulnerable to our plans. We just need the right bait to send him straight to hell."

"What about my father and Nana? What if he harms them in the process?" Amelia's voice shook with fear.

"We will make sure he doesn't. That is why I have to remain here for the next few months playing the part of a resilient victim. We have to give Matt the illusion that he has the upper hand, while we take out his fortress brick by brick until he has nothing to fall on. When that happens, we will nail him to his coffin and I will come back home to you, as a free and justified man."

"What if you use the information you have now against him? We could still win." Amelia said feeling positive.

Blaze chuckled bitterly

"No, we won't. I've already done the maths. The syndicate is too powerful. We have to take them out first and it can't be done in one day. If I leave this place now, the whole plan will flop and chaos will follow. I might even end up losing everything including you."

Amelia sighed depressingly, not liking this plan one bit, especially since it meant Blaze remaining behind bars, while her uncle roamed around the City freely.

"Don't worry, I'll be safe in here and we will always talk over the phone. Now let's get you all cleaned up before Mom and Henry arrive to take you home." Blaze lifted Amelia, princess style, and carried her towards the bathroom while nuzzling her on the neck until she started giggling.

Sarah hadn't been herself since the previous day after trying severally to contact Henry to no avail.

She was aware of his impromptu trip to Country M with Amelia and Maria to see Blaze. She did receive a message from him after they arrived safely in the country.

However, when she tried to call and find out how their trip went, his mobile line was switched off.

She tried calling Amelia's number and even Maria's number, but to her disappointment and panic, both numbers were equally switched off which was a bit odd.

She hardly slept all through the night, thinking of the worst possible scenario having been a victim of kidnapping.

So many, 'what if' tormented her thoughts as she slowly prepared for her morning class.

A sharp knock on her bedroom door jolted her out of her thoughts, causing her to flinch a bit.

"Who is it?"

"It's mom." Came Judith's soft and smooth maternal voice.

Sarah sighed as she strolled over to the door and unlocked it from inside.

"Good morning, mom." Sarah plastered a smile on her face which didn't get to her eyes.

Judith raised a brow, "What's with that long face?"

"What long face?" Sarah looked behind her as if her mother was talking about someone else.

"Come on Sarah, you don't have to pretend around me. I'm your mom. You know you can tell me anything." Judith walked past her daughter into her cozy bedroom, impressed by the uncluttered and tidy appearance.

"I'm not pretending Mom. I'm running late for class and I just remembered I haven't completed an analytical project." Sarah gave a partial version of the truth.

She had slept off worrying about Henry that she had forgotten to work on this project.

"But it's unlike you to forget something so important." Judith eased herself slowly on Sarah's neatly arranged bed while patting the space beside her. "Come sit with me."

"Mom..." Sarah grumbled

"I promise, just three minutes of mother and daughter time. I really miss it."

"Fine, three minutes." Sarah closed the door begrudgingly and joined her mother on the bed.

"So tell me, does this frown on your face have anything to do with the handsome fellow who got you that beautiful guitar night lamp," Judith asked eyeing the glowing blue lamp.

"Mom..." Sarah turned her blushing face away, embarrassed by her nosy mother's direct question.

At that very moment, Sarah's mobile phone which was sitting on the night stand started ringing.

"Speak of the devil." Judith stole a glance at the caller's name on her daughter's phone screen as she handed her the phone. "It's Mr handsome calling."

"Umm... Mom, let's talk later." Sarah stifled her excitement as briskly picked up her laptop and backpack before dashing out of the room while receiving the call.
