Flash - I Am The Speed Force

A few minutes later, they finally pull away from each other as the high of their victory starts to come down.

"Oh Hera... I am sorry. I shouldn't have," Diana says and immediately steps back.

She feels conflicted as she doesn't know what got into her.

Seeing Ares die, finally fulfilling her duty, and then looking at the man who saved her life and helped her fulfill her destiny. Something inside her made her want to kiss this man.

And the kiss felt magical. It felt better than anything. But now she feels conflicted, as she is also in love with Steve.

"Hey, no need to apologize. Things like this happen in the heat of the moment. We were high on emotions from our victory. I am equally at fault; I could have pushed you away, but I didn't, so you don't need to take all the blame," Barry says, trying to calm her down.

Barry's words made sense to Diana. She just escaped from the jaws of death and got ecstatic over her victory, leading to the outburst of emotion she felt when looking at Barry, the man who saved her.

"Thank you for saving me..." Diana finally thanks her.

"Isn't that what we heroes do? Save people, no matter the cost," Barry says with a smile. Diana stares at him for a second before smiling and nodding as well.

"We should head back down; the rest must be worried about us," Barry says, carrying Diana in his arms and running her back to the base.

As Barry runs, Diana looks up at his face and touches her lips as the feeling of the kiss still lingers.

She has made sense of her sudden burst of feelings for Barry because of their circumstance, but now that things are back to normal, why does her heart still beat as she looks up at his face?

The scenery around them looks blurry before Barry finally comes to a stop and puts Diana down.

"Diana! You are okay," Steve immediately rushes to Diana as Barry and Diana appear out of a sudden.

Steve hugs Diana, as he was scared for her life after seeing that massive explosion.

Even though they were very far away from the forest where Barry, Diana, and Ares fought, they still saw a felt the power of that explosion.

"I am okay," Diana says, hugging Steve back.

Steve pulls away from the hug and looks at Barry. "What about Ares?" he asks.

"We won..." Barry answers.

Hearing his answer, the group immediately started cheering and shouting with happiness.

Barry smiles and looks at Diana as she looks back at him. Their eyes meet, and they come to an understanding.

Plus, Barry doesn't think much of it. He felt that Diana just acted as such in the heat of the moment. She must have had one of those psychological episodes where one develops intense feelings towards their saviors.

Barry did save Diana from getting killed after she was brutally mauled at the hands of Ares.

If not for him, she might have actually died. This made Barry wonder, how would Diana have survived if he weren't here?

Barry comes back to reality and looks at these people and sees their happy faces.

These people don't need to know everything that happened out there and after. It would be a secret just between him and Diana.

A few hours later, Barry stands before the group as it's time for him to leave.

He has overstayed his turn and messed with history. He doesn't know the changes his actions have brought to the future, but as a literal time-manipulating god, he can always fix his mistakes.

"It's time for me to return to the future," Barry says, looking at the people before him.

"I am going to name my future son after you, Mr. Barry," Sameer says, taking pride in his words. This almost makes Barry choke, but he decides not to sway the man.

"Thank you for helping us. We don't know what we would have done if not for you," Steve steps forward and extends his hand to Barry.

Barry looks at Steve's hand and then shakes it. He feels a little awkward shaking the hand of a man whose girl he just killed, but whatever, it was not he who initiated it.

Plus, he is going to leave the couple to live out the rest of Steve's life happily ever after. At least Barry hopes that they live a happy life together because a relationship between a mortal and a demigoddess won't be an easy one.

Barry then looks at Diana. "We will meet again in the future," Barry says with a smile. "We will, Barry Allen," Diana says, stepping forward and hugging Barry.

"Alright, guys, take care of yourself," Barry says, gives them a two-finger salute, and disappears in a flash.

Diana feels a little conflicted seeing Barry disappear, but as she turns and looks at Steve, she sees a different future for herself, one filled with joy and happiness with the person she loves.

She remembers the words Barry said to her. To cherish the happy moments she will experience with the ones she loves, as those brief moments of happiness will be carried on with her forever.
