Chapter 85: Brutal Beatdown
With the Flash out of the way, Ares finally has his alone moment with Diana.
The heel of his foot comes crashing down on Diana's face. He stomps her face hard, driving her head into the ground, creating a powerful sonic wave as the ground shatters, creating a spiderweb-like pattern across the field.
Diana's whole body stiffens and rises in the air, legs straight, while her head is deep inside the ground because of the force behind Ares's stomp. Her body then goes limp and falls down as Ares lifts his leg to look down on Diana.
Her nose is completely smashed, and she is bleeding excessively.
"Hahaha, did you really think you could ever defeat me, child? I am the god of war. I have slain countless foes. You and your mortal friend are going to be just another name in the long list of foes I have slain," Ares says, laughing out loud.
He then grabs Diana by her wrist and lifts her whole body up, dangling her before himself like a sandbag.
He also seems to have grown twice in size, making him look like a mass monster.
Diana has a hard time breathing through her crushed up bloody nose, but she is a warrior at heart; she is not going to give up without a fight.
"AAARRRRRRRR!" she shouts and tries to punch Ares with her other hand, but Ares grabs her hand, stopping her punch with ease.
"You are weak, Diana. Father was delusional, thinking that you could bring me death. Today I will kill you and show him how flawed his creations always were," Ares says, and is about to smash Diana down once again, but he stops as he notices something coming towards them.

Barry runs back, past the airfield, and into the forest before finally stopping before the magical divine wall.
On the other side of this wall, he sees Ares standing there menacingly, looking at him as he has Diana in his grasp, and she doesn't look so good.
This is no time to talk. Barry needs to get in and save Diana, and the only way he can think of getting through is by phasing through this divine wall.
So Barry starts vibrating. Every cell in his body, charged up by the power of the speed force, vibrates at blitzing speed, and as he turns into a still blur, Barry tries to enter.
But the moment his hand makes contact with the magical barrier, the same thing that happened before happens again; he isn't able to phase through. Instead, the barrier observes all that vibrational energy and then sends it back to Barry, sending him flying again, but this time, not so far.
"Fuck!" Barry curses as he gets back to his feet. He sees his hands completely twisted and bones broken, but they immediately start straightening up and within seconds, are completely healed.
Barry runs back and looks at the barrier, confused.
"Hahaha, you are a tough one, mortal, but you are not going to get past my magical barrier. Now stand there and watch helplessly as I kill Diana before your very eyes," Ares says, and smashes Diana to the ground.
"URRRGGG!" Barry hears Diana groan as her back is smashed into the ground, but he doesn't stop with just one. He smashes Diana repeatedly into the ground like a rag doll.
While this happens, Barry is trying to figure out a way to get past this barrier. He looks at Diana and sees that she is in terrible shape.
Half of the bones in her body have been broken, and she is bleeding from everywhere.
'Think, Barry, think!' Barry says to himself as Ares continues to punish Diana. With Diana's wrist tightly in his grasp and her hanging like a rag doll before him, Ares pulls his other hand back and drives a lethal punch into Diana's abdomen.
Her eyes widen, and she immediately vomits blood from the impact. Seeing this, Barry decides to take action.
"Fuck it!" He says and begins running.
Seeing Barry disappear, Ares bursts into laughter.
"Hahahaha, see that, Diana. Your friend has abandoned you. He is a smart one, isn't he? He saw that there was no hope for you and decided to leave before the same fate falls upon him. Hahahaha," Ares laughs.
Diana wheezes through her broken nose while staring at Ares through her swollen, bruised eyes, which are slowly healing.
She doesn't blame Barry for running away, as Ares is too powerful. She overestimated herself, thinking she could kill Ares.
Even though she has learned that she is the weapon that Zeus created to bring death upon Ares, she can't see herself winning against this monster.
He is just too powerful.

While Diana's thoughts run chaotic, Barry's running.
He is running fast, faster than ever, breaking speed limits he dared not touch. Crossing a hundred thousand kilometers in a second. Yes, this is the fastest he has ever run.
Sure, he moved faster than the speed of light to dodge that beam before, but running is different.
But Barry is not done; he pushes himself further, increasing his speed three times more. Yes, he is now running at the speed of light.
His regular vision is completely useless right now, and everything he sees before him is from the future with the help of the speed force.
No matter how powerful this divine energy is, there must be a limit. And to break that limit, Barry needs to go beyond limits, he needs to harness the power of infinity.
When an object of any mass travels at the speed of light, its mass would become infinite.
And Barry, a man weighing about 90 kgs, or 198 lbs, traveling at the speed of light, now holds infinite mass.
And as he hits light speed, he runs around the entire earth in just 0.133 seconds, returning to the scene just as he left.
Neither Ares nor Diana sees Barry coming as he is too fast. Barry sees the divine barrier before him, well, the future version of it. He pulls back his hand and runs right towards it.
He throws his Infinite Mass Punch at it.
