Chapter 498: Chapter 508: Explosion
When Sun Jack entered the Himalayas with his clone, they immediately flew towards the position of the Sun with all the others.
UO could only interfere with the networks of the Holy Grail People, which was not enough. They had to be dealt with physically!
All those moving shells were fake, merely external bodies. He had dealt with Holy Grail People before. To better protect themselves, they would carefully hide their real selves in secret places. Only when he had a blade against their real necks would they submit.
When the huge doors on the wall opened, Sun Jack saw the extinguished artificial Sun inside, its lack of virtual flames revealing the pockmarked and extremely ugly core underneath.
It was rolling and moving, as if trying to hover again. It seemed UO couldn't completely control the place.
Just as Sun Jack was about to go over and help, his body moved quickly, swiftly dodging the laser positioning on him.
Facing a physical invasion of the core, the people inside the artificial Sun wouldn't just give up. Various companies' elite forces had long been ready, and as Sun Jack and his group approached, they cancelled their Mimetic Camouflage, revealing a whole battalion of Active Metal armies stationed there.
"Everyone, gather! Help me hold them off!" As Sun Jack spoke, Wild Men hidden within the city began to converge, the ones without deformities.
Although those who had previously infiltrated were all killed, a new batch had unknowingly slipped in. As long as there were no deformities, then the Wild Men from outside the wilderness were humans, and no one could distinguish that clearly.
Following that, Sun Jack played his last card.
Soon, Sun Jack's voice echoed throughout the entire Himalayan network, "Friends! I am Sun Jack! I believe you have all seen my TV shows. Yes, I've arrived! If you don't want to live like you do now, if you don't want to take drugs to work, if you don't want to live without meaning, then come and help me! Let's overthrow this rotten world together!"
At first, nobody in the Himalayas took action. They just watched the drama unfold, betting on who would win.
However, when they saw that Sun Jack's people weren't just surviving but that the situation was escalating, more and more began to join the Resistance Army.
Once there was a leader, others gradually began to follow.
Among Sun Jack's allies, the Resistance Army might have been the weakest in combat and the worst in discipline, but they had the most numbers and could switch sides at any time.
Soon, the entire Himalayas were in complete chaos. Although the corporate troops began to suppress the uprising, it was already ineffective.
Nobody liked corporate dogs, and when they saw someone supporting them, those who had not had the chance to exact revenge in the past began to seek personal vengeance stealthily.
Before long, the defensive lines established by the corporate troops began to be breached, and Sun Jack, at the cost of thousands of his own deaths, finally entered the sealed artificial Sun.
They even attempted to resist from the inside, but with troubles both within and without, it was no longer useful.
With Tapai and Digital Personalities joining the network, the situation became overwhelmingly one-sided, and the automated troops became their puppets, switching sides en masse.
Under Sun Jack's leadership, each Holy Grail Person's core was unearthed.
When their lives were threatened, they very sensibly turned their capital around and started to regard Sun Jack as their leader.
In his unrelenting quest, besides the Holy Grail, Sun Jack also found a familiar face. "Poet?"
Originally, the Poet was holding a guitar, singing a love song with a melancholy face. When he saw Sun Jack enter, he became excited, incessantly tapping on the glass enclosure confining him. "Jack! Save me!"
"How did you end up here? You're actually alive?" Sun Jack opened the glass enclosure, asking with confusion.
"Because I surrendered when I realized I couldn't win." The Poet exclaimed, justifying himself without any shame.
Tapai, on the other hand, sent a scornful emoticon, "You surrendered? You actually surrendered? I've always thought of you as a poet—I really didn't expect you to be a French poet!"
"Why can't I surrender? The reason I've lived so long is that I kneel and slide away when things go south."
"Enough, enough, stop jabbering. Have you seen X?" Sun Jack asked.
"Oh, they just left, said they were going to activate the main control room in the Himalayas, to start the self-protection program," the Poet said with a smile.
"What!?" Sun Jack's voice almost broke. "Where is the control room!?"
'sir~ this way~' The Poet led Sun Jack in the direction X had left.
With UO's help, one electronic door after another was opened, and finally, Sun Jack found them at the very top of the artificial sun, looking slightly fierce as if waiting for Sun Jack's arrival.
At that moment, their right hand hovered over a red button. "Surprised? The self-destruct mechanism is made of machinery, meant to prevent the AI Crisis, but it seems it ended up being used against you."
"Don't be hasty. Let's talk this out." Sun Jack had barely taken a step forward when he saw X fiercely press toward the button.
"Don't come any closer!" Their hand paused above the button and ultimately did not come down.
"You think I'll sit here and wait for death? Dream on! Order your men, order your troops to leave the Himalayas! Otherwise, we all die together!"
Sun Jack stepped back to avoid provoking the other party, "X, we've known each other a long time, I don't want it to come to this, so how about this. I just want the Himalayas, you take your corporate forces and your capital and go wherever you want. I'll double your Golden Stock, how about that?"
X let out a cold laugh. "Me leaving? Where would I go? The Himalayas are my market! Without it, what am I supposed to do with that much golden stock in another city? Get robbed? I'm not like them! I climbed up from the bottom, step by step! You think I'm going to let you make me fall back down? No way!"
Then they looked at Sun Jack with a face full of disappointment. "Sun Jack, you scumbag! I genuinely helped you as a friend. I helped you analyze the situation, devise strategies, helped you find a dignified way out in this do-or-die predicament, and this is how you repay me?"
Sun Jack looked at them seriously, "Being friends isn't like that. If you consider me a friend, shouldn't you think about issues from my perspective?"
"If you really treat me as a friend, then let go of that thing, and let's talk this through, how about that?"
X shook their head and flicked their indigo hair. "Do you think I'm stupid, Sun Jack? I'll say it one more time, get your men and the spacecraft carrier outside to leave the Himalayas! Otherwise, it's going to be a lose-lose situation."
"You think you're the only one who can gamble with their life? I can too! And I'm not afraid to tell you, the amount of energy needed to keep such a big thing afloat is astonishing. If this thing explodes, its power will be tremendous, and forget about those few spacecraft carriers outside, even Mount Everest might not be left standing!"
