Chapter 495: Chapter 505: Unexpected
Upon hearing the other party's words, Sun Jack looked at X and smiled slightly, "Sorry, I'm not used to being someone else's dog."
He never anticipated that they would come up with such a sinister plan, intending to use him as an agent to remotely control all the Resistance Army.
They even wanted to turn the entity that had caused them losses into their accomplice! Such a thing, Sun Jack would never do, not even if he died.
Hearing this response, X immediately smacked the table in frustration. "How can you call that being a dog? You are not like them; as long as you agree, then you are one of our own. If you don't believe me, I can persuade FFP to bind shares with you, so that attacking you would mean attacking themselves."
"Jack, I really want to help you, and as I've said, you can't possibly defeat Lan Meng-controlled FFP International Corp. Do you still remember 'Revolution Sun Jack'? It was for promoting DNA enhancement technology."
"Think about it, a company that dares to vigorously push technology and even forcefully create new tracks despite opposition from the old money of mechanical prosthetic bodies, you must realize how powerful this company is!"
The more it was mentioned, the angrier Sun Jack felt in his heart; so everything he had done initially was just a part of FFP's plan? And not even a core part, just a minor portion outsourced to Guan Sanke Entertainment Company.
X continued, "You released the DNA enhancement technology for free, do you know how much money that cost FFP? And with all the trouble stirred up by those Resistance Army you rallied, finding this way out for you is really quite rare now."
But Sun Jack still shook his head, and looking at X in front of him, he said, "Actually, I have a better idea now."
"What idea?" X asked in surprise.
Sun Jack waved his hand, motioning X to come closer.
Seeing the neural jack at the back of the opponent getting closer, Sun Jack's hand moved towards the three data cables at the back of his own neck.
Sun Jack tensed up, holding his breath. "The idea is....."
Just as Sun Jack was about to make his move, a pair of eyes outside the window suddenly made him stop his hand. "Poet?"
At that moment, Poet was crouching outside the window, peering in with eyes wide open, curiously surveying everything inside the room.
"Poet? What is this idea?" Before X could figure out what the cryptic message meant, Sun Jack quickly stood up and rushed outside.
He pulled Poet away from X's place. "How did you get here? No, how did you get in? I thought only Holy Grail Persons had the clearance to enter this place?"
"Because my band was once invited here for a concert, I have authorization," Poet said matter-of-factly.
"F*ck, why didn't you tell me earlier!"
"You didn't ask, and besides, I've lived in most cities for a while, except for Metropolis; that place has terrible public security."
Sun Jack was driven mad, knowing this guy could have gotten in directly, why did he bother making things so complicated.
"Jack, what do you mean? What is this better plan you were talking about?" X also came out and asked.
Sun Jack turned his head to look at him and said, "Let's talk next time. I've run into a friend; wait till FFP makes their move then contact me."
Having finished speaking, Sun Jack grabbed the Poet and left the interior of the man-made Sun, arriving in the outer city. Here, Sun Jack had UO isolate the network and surveillance before asking the Poet, "You've been here before, are you quite familiar with this place?"
"Sort of. Once, a couple took a fancy to my meat bone skin girlfriend, and I played swap with them a few times. I got to know this place pretty well," the Poet said indifferently.
"Perfect! Do you know any hidden spots here that can directly connect to the Sun's intranet? It would be even better if you knew the password for the Wi-Fi," Sun Jack asked.
If he were to start with X, it was very easy to alert the enemy, and he might even get caught himself. Having the Poet as a guide would be convenient and also allow more time for the others to prepare.
"The intranet? Let me think," the Poet said, supporting his chin with his hand and furrowing his brows.
After a while, the Poet spoke, "I was only invited to attend and didn't have access to connect to the intranet wirelessly, but I do know a place where you can connect—a really excellent spot."
"Where?"
"A place you'd find easy to access."
"Stop beating around the bush, where exactly is it?"
Under Sun Jack's gaze, the Poet, who had been evasive for a while, finally spoke. "It's the neural interface behind the ear of the man you were just speaking to. I think you can connect to the intranet through his interface, but it might be easily detectable by them."
"......."
"Fuck! Are you fucking kidding me? Don't you think I would know that?
Seeing Sun Jack's increasingly unfriendly look, the Poet quickly waved his hand and said, "Ah! Now I remember, on the planet where I held the concert, the drummer physically connected his smart drum set to the network, playing music through the network across the inner city. That should be a node."
"I really want to hit you."
Sun Jack sent a message to the Resistance Army in the Himalayas, "Move your base as soon as possible. I'm going back inside the Sun. If I fail, my memories might be extracted. Change your appearance as soon as possible and lie low as much as you can."
Soon, led by the Poet, they re-entered the inner part where the dazzling starry sky continually transformed. Sun Jack and the Poet floated to a large public planet above the starry sky where an empty, small open-air stage stood—clearly the stage where the Poet's band performed.
The metallic floor had various regular seams, obviously hiding many things underground, ready to be raised when needed.
"The physical access point is on the stage floor," the Poet said, leading Sun Jack to eagerly walk up and start tapping his fingers on the flat floor, but the surface was incredibly smooth.
"What's going on? Are you sure it's here?" Sun Jack knelt on one knee, pressing his hand against the floor.
"It's here, man, but did you think breaking it would be that easy? After all, who's stage isn't explosion-proof these days?" the Poet stood by idly, showing no intention of helping.
As Sun Jack pressed both hands on the surface, tiny nanoworms crawled out of his sleeves and began gnawing on the extremely hard material of the floor.
At first, nothing changed, but soon some metal powder appeared on the floor. Seeing this, Sun Jack was instantly delighted. It was working! There might be a chance yet.
Just as Sun Jack pulled out three data cables anxiously waiting, the Poet beside him spoke up, "Jack, it looks like someone is coming."
