Fate’s Slave - Shadow Slave X Honkai Star Rail

Chapter 40: Veliona

Seele looked over the runes that Sunny decided to share with her. A Divine Aspect, being able to grow multiple cores like a Nightmare Creature, creating growing companions, and having the lineage of a fallen god and daemon…

Wasn't this a little too much?

She had never heard of a War God or a Daemon of Fate, but she could tell that they must have been extremely powerful beings. To be able to have two of them at the same time… it was quite ridiculous.

Not only that, but it seemed that his ability to have multiple Shadow Cores was fundamentally different from her Duality Cores, as he was able to keep obtaining more as long as he gained shadow fragments. Seele herself only had her two cores, and wouldn't be able to create more.

And then there was his Flaw…

"…How can I be sure that you're not lying about being unable to lie?"

Sunny rolled his eyes with a sneer on his face.

"You can't. You just have to trust your own judgement."

Seele licked her lips, thinking for a moment.

"…Alright, I trust you."

A small smirk played on his face, seemingly amused by something that she couldn't see.

His smug expression irked Seele, who was starting to get quite annoyed by his cocky demeanor.

"What's so funny?"

His grin only grew wider, as if he had expected her to ask him. Sunny rested his head on his hand, a glint of mirth in his golden eyes. He replied to her in an accusing tone:

"I just thought that it was cute that you pretended that you were thinking about trusting me. You didn't doubt me from the start, did you?"

[Read you like a book.]

Seele's face burned crimson. Although it was too late, she turned her head so that he couldn't see her face.

"As if! It's nothing like that, got it?! Nothing!"

Her voice came out at a pitch higher than usual, exposing her already apparent embarrassment. Seele wanted to find an empty hole somewhere in the frigid edges of the Underworld and rot there for the rest of her life. Preferably alone.

She heard a small noise of amusement from Sunny.

"I dont think you believe that yourself. What an idiot…"

Seele whirled around with a harsh scowl on her face.

"Mind repeating that?"

A mocking snicker escaped his lips.

"Actually, I do mind. Thank you for being so understanding… are you seriously pouting?"

It seemed that Sunny simply couldn't take it anymore as he started to laugh at her expense.

'I'm not pouting!'

Seele had also reached her limits, deciding to resort to violence. They were currently sitting on the stairs leading up to Natasha's clinic. In an attempt to push him off, Seele reached out with both her hands.

Her sudden attack was intercepted however, as Sunny clasped his hands with her own, interlocking their fingers. The momentum still pushed him backwards, pulling Seele along with him as he cackled all the while.

A seconds passed, with only Sunny's chortles being heard near them.

Seele stared down at him in equal parts horror and mortification.

She was on her knees, leaning over Sunny. Their faces were a mere few inches apart from each other. Their hands were intertwined, creating an intimate scene.

One that was way too intimate!

Sunny either didn't notice, or didn't care. Maybe it was both.

As she gazed upon his smug expression, Seele only got more ticked off. Why was she the only one that had to be embarrassed about this?

Out of nothing but pure spite, Seele was determined to fluster Sunny. She leaned forward, getting closer to him as he stared at her in confusion.

"So… why are you getting closer?"

She ignored him as she attempted to breach his personal space enough that he got uncomfortable.

Sunny simply blinked. He had a look of curiosity on his face, and didn't make any move to stop her. He wasn't even remotely bothered. It greatly infuriated her.

Seele heard the voice of her other half echoing in her mind. She kept grumbling and complaining about things, but Seele didn't bother to listen to them.

…Suddenly, a dull sound registered in her mind. Something had hit the back of Seele's head. The sound of a ball bouncing was heard, but she had other things to worry about.

Her head fell forwards, rapidly approaching Sunny's own.

'No, no, no, wait, wait, wa—'

***

'Hm… soft.'

Sunny had just been watching Seele's pathetic attempt at flustering him when he saw a ball flying towards the back of her head. Considering that Hook was running over to the ball that laid motionless on the ground, he assumed that she was the one who had kicked it.

Blood rushed to his face, adding some color to his pale complexion. If Sunny's heart still beat, he would have certainly heard it.

He wouldn't quite describe this as kissing, but… their lips were certainly making contact with each other.

His golden eyes gazed into Seele's purple, both pairs being much wider than usual. For a few seconds, the two of them stared at each other unblinkingly. The tension between the two of them was palpable.

Sunny's eyes swiveled over to where Hook was. The young girl sent the two a look of disgust before walking over to where her friends were, ball in hand.

Looking back at Seele, he found the girl with her eyes closed, brows scrunched up as if she was contemplating something. Sunny just stared at her, not knowing what he should do in this situation.

They cracked open slowly, revealing the crimson eyes of her alter ego. Her eyes narrowed at him for a moment, before she leaned back, seperating their lips.

Sunny gasped, realizing that he hadn't been breathing the whole time. Looking up at her, he wondered why Seele switched with her other half.

'…Did she get so embarrassed that she decided to run away?'

Seele's lips turned upwards, a strange glint appearing in her vermillion eyes. Sunny felt a hint of unease, feeling as if he was looking upon a predator that was itching to consume him — the prey.

And then… Sunny was consumed.

The other Seele's lips mashed against his own, not giving him any time to react or inquire about why the two of them had switched.

If their lips had only been touching before, then they were certainly kissing now.

Her lips moved against his with a voracious hunger, one that completely overwhelmed Sunny. His nerves fired helplessly and aimlessly as he tried to either understand or escape this situation. She was no longer leaning over him, now sinfully pressing her body against his own.

Sunny had become hypersensitive to everything around him, overwhelming him with different sensations and emotions. He was completely pinned down as he felt the soft swell of her breasts, the poking of her ribs, and of course, the messy lock of their lips. He had never kissed a girl before — at least, he didn't recall such a thing happening before.

He felt his stomach drop. Why was Seele, or rather, her Flaw doing this? It was only an accident the first time, but the intent behind her current actions was obvious now. She couldn't have been attracted to him, so what was the meaning behind her actions?

What should he do?

Despite his paranoia, he couldn't ignore the obvious lust and desire radiating from her. Although Sunny was convinced that she had some sort of ulterior motive, he couldn't deny that Seele's Flaw… wanted him somehow.

To be honest, that only scared him more. He wasn't sure if she even thought with human logic, so this desire might translate into something more insidious.

…Hell, it was already looking frighteningly aggressive.

Sunny's arms were restricted by her deathly delicate hands, and he was pinned down by her deviously delectable body. There was nothing he could do but accept his fate…

'…Wait, what the hell am I thinking?!'

Had his mind already been hazed over by lust?

Sunny shivered as the other Seele released a muffled moan. Despite the fact that he hadn't given out any consent, he had to admit that the sound was quite heavenly.

His eyes widened when he felt a slimy object slither into his mouth, prodding against his teeth, begging for entrance.

No… it was commanding him.

For reasons that he couldn't quite understand, he gave her entrance to his mouth. Seele's tongue dove in, wrestling with his own tongue as they danced in the depths of his mouth. It was a strange sensation, one that he couldn't describe, but not one that he disliked.

Unfortunately, he didn't get the chance to get used to it, as another sensation was added in the mix. Seele violently roocked her hips against his—

He whimpered in her mouth, defiance blooming in his mind. This was too much for him. He must put an end to this.

Augmenting himself with his shadows, he easily pushed Seele away from himself. This caused him to question why he hadn't done this earlier, but he didn't care. He glared at her with contempt and disgust. Looking around, he breathed a sigh of relief that there wasn't anyone nearby. It looked like the kids had left the area to play elsewhere.

Ripping his hands out of Seele's own, Sunny placed them on her shoulders as he got out from under her. Her crimson eyes looked back at him in confusion, a hint of lingering lust hazed over it. Her face was flushed from their previous activities.

A sliver of regret welled up within him, but he ignored it. He had… too many questions he needed to ask.

"Why… why did you do that?"

It was a simple question, yet one that carried meaning to it. Her motives were what had confused Sunny the most.

Seele's alter ego started to giggle, a haunting sound of he was being honest. Suddenly, the Underworld felt a little colder than usual.

"I thought it was obvious. It's because I love you!"

Sunny immediately grew alarmed. They had known each other for less than a week. How could anyone possibly grow so attached to a person in such a short amount of time? It would have only been possible under the most extraordinary of circumstances.

Gulping, Sunny asked:

"And… why is that?"

At his question, Seele's smile widened. Her hands spread out in a grand gesture.

"You can't see it, but I can! One day, you will die. Not once, not twice, not even three times. You'll die and die and die and die and die and die and die and die and die and die and die again and again! And it'll all be… because of me!"

Sunny's eyes narrowed dangerously. Was this a threat, or something else?

"Your death belongs to me. Almost all of them belong to me. Doesn't that mean your life belongs to me as well? Everything I've killed is erased from existence, not a single hint of their soul remaining. But somehow, you'll come back to life. Over and over again, I'll kill you, just for you to come back so that I could kill you again!"

A pit formed in his stomach. This wasn't a threat. Rather, she has literally witnessed himself dying to her in some way or form.

Seele started to take heavy breaths, panting as her eyes started to shake, her expression becoming more unhinged.

"It's perfect. You're perfect! You'll be with me forever, dying for me. Because you love me too! You don't belong to anyone else… just me. It would have been fine if Seele agreed, but… but she couldn't see your worth. She isn't deserving of your love, only I am!"

Feeling a headache, multiple images burned themselves into Sunny's mind. These were memories, yet he instinctively knew that these weren't his own.

***

A purple-haired girl sat alone on a bunk bed within a sterilized, white room. She was swinging her legs, humming a strange tune. She wore a hospital gown, and there was a red, circular symbol on her chest.

The door to the room opened, multiple doctors… no, scientists entering. The girl's purple eyes grew excited as she looked at the scientists. Her eyes scanned them, her joy suddenly dimming. She asked an innocent question.

"Where's Sunny?"

He was surprised to hear his own name, since he was absolutely sure that he never met this person before.

One of the scientists spoke in a clinical tone.

"Subject-007's life support terminated. His body deteriorated from Honkai radiation."

The scene suddenly changed, stopping him from seeing the girl's reaction to the news.

Two figures were battling in the midst of a snowfield. Wormholes in space were being opened up, strange lances firing out of them at incomprehensible speed. The other figure danced around the battlefield with a crimson scythe in hand.

It was a boy. One that had the same appearance as Sunny himself — although, a few years younger with his original hair and eye color.

The lances that approached him deteriorated, turning into nothingness as an inhuman roar tore out of his throat.

"WE ARE SHADOW! WE ARE DEATH! WE ARE THE HONKAI!"

The scene changed for the last time, showing that same boy standing in the midst of that same snowfield. Craters littered the ground around him, the aftermath of the previous battle destructive.

He stared down at his chest, a worn-out hospital gown barely hanging onto his body. A familiar crimson mark rested on his chest. The Sunny look-alike stared at it in confusion.

"Seele…?"

***

A searing pain tore through Sunny's skull. Another Sunny. Another Seele. Yet, they were not the same. They were different. Very different indeed.

'Are these… the memories of that other Sunny?'

He was referring to the one that had previously spoken to him through his mind. He had said something about being from another universe, and Sunny was starting to believe that. Had the link between them not been completely separated?

Brushing aside this information for later, he looked back at Seele's alter ego.

"…Don't you think that you're getting ahead of yourself? I don't belong to you."

She didn't know about Shadow Bond, but his point still stands. Even if he is a slave, she wouldn't be able to enslave him even if she knew his True Name.

Seele seemed ready to retort, but before she could, Sunny softly patted her head.

"You belong to me."

He paused.

"As a subordinate!"

He had to make sure to be specific.

Sunny admitted that Seele's Flaw had a twisted, delusional love for him. It didn't follow human behavior, and was certainly destructive towards both herself and him.

Despite this, it was still a genuine form of love. He couldn't return it, but he was all too glad to accept it.

…He was still somewhat worried about explaining this to Sparkle. She might actually try to kill him because of this. Then there was Seele, who was probably helplessly watching as her body was being used for things she wouldn't approve of.

Sunny sighed. He looked at Seele, who returned his gaze with an unhealthy amount of affection.

Removing his hand from her head, an idea slipped into his mind.

"I've come up with a name for you."

She blinked, her eyes looking up at him in curiosity.

"Oh? What is it?"

Honestly, this Sunny hadn't come up with the name. Instead, it was something the other Sunny had come up with. He wasn't sure, but he guessed that their was an entity similar to Seele's Flaw in his world.

"Veliona. I think it was supposed to mean something… but who cares? It sounds nice, right?"

The newly named Veliona pursed her lips together, repeating the name to herself multiple times. She smiled.

"Yes… it does seem to be quite fitting."

Sunny smiled back. This encounter had been quite strange, and he somehow had two psychotic girls in love with him — Sparkle and Veliona — but it all ended off pretty well! He didn't have to worry about the whole naming thing any more…

Now, he just had to figure out how to convince Seele not to try to kill him for making out with her possessed body.

Sunny suspected that such a sentence had never been said in the course of human history.
