Fairy Tail: Jinchuriki

Chapter 169: 169. New S-Classes

Unlike Natsu's Fire Dragon Slayer Magic, Gray's Ice Make Magic actually affects Alex more. It's because there was no Ice Dragon Lacrima crystal among the ones that Alex took from Serena's body, so he doesn't get any immunity to ice and cold.

What's more, Ice Make Magic is mostly physical because the Mages are using shaped ice to attack. So even if Alex has immunity to ice and cold, he still won't be able to nullify the attacks because of their physical damage.

So to face Gray's shaped-ice attacks, Alex needs to utilize more power. He still tries to avoid transforming because he wants to find his limits as his own self and also finds more ways to use his new Rinne-Sharingan.

Fortunately, Alex has the power to break Gray's ice without transforming. He has a great physical power and it gets even greater once he uses his magic power on his attacks.

However, the cold and hardness of the ice still hurt his fists. His hands are even getting frostbites and start to turn blue from hitting all those cold ices. Even with his tough bones, hitting those hard ice will still damage him slowly.

Alex finds a solution quickly. One of Rinnegan's abilities is creating mechanical body parts. So he creates a layer of armor on his fists that looks like skin-colored hard gloves with some black lines following his hand bones.

When he punches Gray's ice hammer with it, his fists don't hurt anymore. The cold still seeps through a little, but because his skin doesn't directly touch the ice, his blood isn't being frozen by the cold ice hammer.

This hard mechanical part layer can protect his fist well, but Alex still prefers to dodge Gray's attack to get used to his changing vision. He needs to match his mind with his vision so he can move as he wants when he sees things at a slower pace.

Gray's attacks are much stronger and faster than he remembers too. But with his Rinne-Sharingan, Alex can see everything coming at him clearly. He can dodge even a barrage of ice lances that Gray shot like a machine gun.

Alex keeps dodging while approaching Gray before attacking with fast punches. Gray's reaction time is very good too. He can put up an ice wall or a simple ice shield on his hands to block Alex's attack.

They go back and forth for quite a while before Alex's Shinra Tensei ends it. He uses Shinra Tensei while punching, but now its area of effect is more concentrated, making it into a kind of piercing force that makes a hole through Gray's ice wall instead of breaking it all apart.

The invisible pushing force hits Gray's stomach, making him feel like getting punched by an invisible fist. Alex can control his power more properly now, so it doesn't send Gray flying too far, but it's enough to knock him out instantly.

The next challenger is Gajeel whose magic makes Alex cover his entire body with his hard mechanical skin, making it look like he is wearing an exoskeleton or a full body armor with skin color and black lines.

Their battle is more physical than any of the previous battles. After all, Gajeel's main ability is altering his body shape that has turned into iron. It's a simple but very effective ability because his attacks give much more damage especially with the heavy weight on each attack and he also has a great defense.

At first, Alex's mechanical armor seems to be holding against Gajeel's iron. But soon he realizes they are cracking. His Rinne-Sharingan's mechanical body parts are clearly more brittle than Gajeel's iron.

The good thing is, Gajeel's insides aren't iron too, only his scales. His iron scales are more like a chainmail too, so they are flexible, not stiff hard, especially on the part where his body moves, like joints, neck, stomach, and face.

If Alex aims at Gajeel's body, his attacks will still damage Gajeel. It just feels like hitting a thick and hard skin, doesn't really feel like hitting iron. This problem is still the same as 6 years ago, so Alex is quite angry at this.

"Why haven't you fixed this problem? I told you your iron scales are still too soft." Alex punches Gajeel's stomach, making the latter's body bend while being sent flying back.

Gajeel manages to land on his 2 feet while sliding on the ground. "Hardening them more hinders my movements because they aren't flexible enough."

"Then learn how to harden them just when they are being hit, or learn how to avoid getting hit!" Alex has already caught up to Gajeel and sent a barrage of punches at different spots on Gajeel's body to give him a lesson.

His punches are light but very fast so Gajeel can't follow them up and keeps getting hit. They are light but they still have enough power packed to hurt Gajeel who can only use his iron scales to defend himself.

Gajeel suddenly shoots his Iron Dragon Roar a little down to hit Alex, but then a strong punch hits his jaw from below, forcefully stopping his Iron Dragon Roar and even sending him to fly quite high.

"If I am fast enough to attack faster than your eyes can see, then I am fast enough to hit your face anytime I want. After we go back to Magnolia, I will be sure to give you thorough training." Alex grins sinisterly while stepping on the fallen Gajeel, making the thug-looking Dragon Slayer shiver in fear.

Next is Elfman's turn and he gets even harsher lectures than Gajeel because he is a Take-Over Mage like Alex, so Alex understands more of Elfman's problems. Also, Elfman is the one he taught the most, so Alex knows his abilities more than anyone.

"I told you to train your agility more and be more observant of your opponent's movements. Stop roaring every time you attack, you'll only give signals to your opponents. Use your tail sometimes for unexpected attacks! Have you only improved this much in 6 years, Elfman?"

The match with Elfman looks more like a teacher giving advice to his student through a match instead of a real fighting match, which looks funny because Elfman is already much bigger than Alex even before transforming, making the roles don't match.

"Hmph! We'll train thoroughly once we go home. I'll make sure you grow so much stronger you can't help but become an S-Class this year." Alex steps on the exhausted Elfman who gets his face planted into the ground.

"I-I am an S-Class already."

"Don't lie to me! You still don't have enough skills to be an S-Class. At most, it would be Natsu and Gray who have become S-Classes in the last 6 years."

Everyone is impressed that Alex can find out who became the new S-Classes during his absence. They haven't told him, but he found out just from a few matches with them.

As he said, only Gray and Natsu became S-Classes during his absence. Gray first and Natsu next. It doesn't mean that Elfman and the others are weak. They just couldn't defeat Natsu and Gray yet.

Though from his matches with Gajeel and Elfman, he could see that they also still have problems with making quick decisions during battles and the biggest problem is they often let their guards open because of their confidence in their strong defense.

Gajeel's iron scales and Elfman's tough beast skin, especially when he transforms into a Lizardman or a Wyvern make them drop their guards too much because they believe their skin is hard enough to stop their opponents' attacks.

Well, they sure have gotten much stronger compared to the past. Their strength is already at the level of S-Class Mages. But being S-Classes isn't just about strength, but they need to have sufficient intelligence too.

That's why Gray could be an S-Class first because he always has a good brain although he could lose all those brain cells when he's with his friends. Natsu might be an idiot in other things, but he is a genius in battles, so his promotion isn't surprising.

Meanwhile, Gajeel and Elfman are the types to just use brute force to solve anything. They would often just exchange fists with their opponents without defending. That's why they'll have hard times passing the complex S-Class exam.

"Alright, let's get to the main event, shall we? Come, Laxus! It's finally time to beat you up after so long." Alex is more excited to fight Laxus than anyone before. After all, both of them have been looking at each other as rivals since they were kids.

"Right, I can finally burn you to crisps again after all these years. Time to jolt back your memories of losing to me with my lightning." Laxus also grins as he throws his robe to Freed and walks toward Alex.

Both men are very excited to punch each other again after so long. Even before doing anything, Alex knows this fight will be different from before. He can finally be serious now.
