Exorcist's Self-Cultivation

Chapter 606: 603, is someone going to bully Alex?

Late at night.

A plane descended in the city near the Wittebach family.

As Du Wei stepped off the plane, he was greeted by his long-awaited brother-in-law, Frobin.

"Brother-in-law, you've finally come back."

Frobin's tone was very nostalgic.

Recently, he had encountered too many things. As Alex's cousin, he felt a heartfelt sympathy and sadness for his cousin's situation.

However, Frobin trusted Du Wei very much.

After all, no one else was as capable and resourceful as his brother-in-law.

Du Wei nodded to Frobin, "How has Alex been these past few days?"

The last time he left the Wittebach family in the real world, only about a week had passed, but in reality, Du Wei had experienced much more, hence the complexity in his tone.

Frobin said to Du Wei, "Let's walk and talk."

With that, he opened his fingers towards the back.

Meaning, you go ahead brother-in-law, I'll follow.

Du Wei said nothing more and walked on ahead by himself.

Behind him, Frobin sighed and began, "Alex's situation could only be described as passable. She's basically in a vegetative state now and hasn't shown any signs of awakening. The doctor said if it drags on too long, her body functions will definitely be compromised... but..."

He paused at the end, as if hesitant to continue.

Without turning his head, Du Wei squinted and asked, "But what?"

Frobin replied with some dissatisfaction, "But as you know, brother-in-law, my cousin is one of the main heirs of the family. Grandfather originally intended to leave most of the assets to her."

"But now, many in the family see my cousin's incident as an opportunity."

"You haven't been through the dirty affairs of a big family, brother-in-law, but those people aren't as glamorous as you think."

Indeed, that was the case.

Any family of significant size and wealth would have serious factional struggles within it.

All for the sake of interest.

Even ordinary families, those with a bit of money, will have conflicts over interests as the children grow up, leading to indissoluble disputes.

After hearing Frobin's words,

Du Wei stopped and turned to look at Frobin behind him.

His gaze was very cold.

So much so that Frobin felt a chill in his heart and hurriedly waved his hands, "Don't worry, brother-in-law, I don't have any ideas about those messy things, I'm someone with spiritual pursuits."

Indeed...

If it weren't for spiritual pursuits, Frobin, a prominent member of the Wittebach family with numerous assets, could be living a life of utter comfort and indulgence, there would be no need to seek thrills and become a cult leader.

Seeing that Du Wei remained silent,

Frobin continued with a pained expression, "You've got to believe me, brother-in-law. I'm now your man, and to be frank, with my deep involvement with the cult... ah no, Duke Bai's Cult, if I were after my cousin's inheritance, wouldn't I be signing my own death warrant?"

Duke Bai's Cult was the cult organization that believed in Du Wei, formerly known as the Everlasting Flower.

Every word was carefully placed.

Regardless of whether Frobin had ulterior motives, his life was in Du Wei's hands.

Therefore,

Du Wei said coldly, "I didn't mean to doubt you. After all, you are Alex's cousin, and with that relation, even if you did harbor any improper thoughts, I wouldn't take action against you."

Really?

Although Frobin really didn't have any such thoughts, doubts still formed in his mind.

As if seeing through his thoughts, Du Wei emphasized, "I never lie."

At this moment,

the two had also left the airport.

A luxury car bearing the Wittebach family crest was parked outside the airport.

Frobin went forward personally and opened the rear door.

"Brother-in-law, please,"

"Hmm..."

Du Wei got into the car directly and sat in the back seat.

Frobin followed closely. He sat next to Du Wei and closed the car door.

The atmosphere was a bit awkward.

Du Wei kept silent as if he was thinking about something.

Frobin hesitated, unable to restrain himself, he asked, "Brother-in-law, you don't seem very angry?"

Du Wei looked at him strangely, "Do you want to ask why I'm so calm about those within the Wittebach family coveting Alex's inheritance rights?"

Frobin nodded vigorously.

Smiling, Du Wei said, "What the eyes see is always superficial. Whether it's the matter with Duke Bai's Cult or your own affairs, never rely on your eyes."

With some understanding, Frobin asked further, "What are you planning to do with them?"

Nonchalantly, Du Wei replied, "Why act against them? Once Alex awakens, these issues will resolve themselves."

Perplexed, Frobin responded, "But what if those people make a move before she awakens?"

Du Wei replied indifferently, "You've failed to understand one thing. What belongs to Alex is hers, and no one can snatch it away. If they keep it to themselves, I can accept that."

"But what if they can't resist?"

Frobin seemed to realize something; his breathing grew more constrained.

Du Wei shook his head, his gaze shifting to the car window.

He did not answer.

But his eyes turned somewhat dangerous.

He disliked having to kill with his own hands, simply because it was too inefficient. If the people of the Wittebach family were really up to something, Black Shadow would come in handy.

So-called kin and friends.

Du Wei didn't care at all nor was he concerned.

There was something he hadn't told anyone. Never lying was just an excuse. After all, the dead are not counted as people.

...

Late at night.

Within the Wittebach family estate, lights blazed everywhere.

When Du Wei arrived, many people were already waiting.

Alex's parents were also present.

Father-in-law Lawrence's face was extremely haggard. He approached Du Wei, patted his son-in-law's shoulder.

"Any good news?"

As a father, Lawrence cared deeply about his only daughter.

Du Wei spoke with a complicated tone, "There's some good news; it won't be long before Alex awakens."

Relieved, Lawrence murmured in Du Wei's ear, "Frobin probably told you some things, but don't take it too seriously. As long as you are alive, no one dares to touch Alex."

Du Wei nodded, but his eyes turned icy when he looked at the unfamiliar faces of the Wittebach family.

It seemed the issue was more troublesome than he had anticipated.

It was time for Lawrence to step in.

It seemed...

When leaving the Wittebach family, he would have to ensure that certain individuals' ulterior motives were thoroughly crushed.

So they won't keep making troubles.

Upon that thought,

Du Wei slid his hand into his pocket. Inside was a yellowing envelope that trembled with excitement.

Having held onto the envelope for so long,

without even being able to find a use for it seems wasteful, but now, when thinking about it, this envelope that can trace things back ten minutes and also act as a listening device, was finally about to come into real play.

Quietly, Du Wei thought to himself, "Tonight then. I'll start with the one who's jumped the highest, to discourage others from nurturing unwarranted thoughts."
