Exorcist in America

Chapter 450: Chapter 450: Exorcism Permit

To describe the current situation with one phrase, it would be "piercing through the surface."

As the lava axe descended with the power to cleave the heavens, York, like a nail, drove through the giant's axe. Dust and smoke obscured everything.

Suspended in the air, York hurled the Divine Judgement Axe at the giant's massive head, locking eyes with the King of the Giants, whose eyes were larger than York himself.

The field of telekinesis expanded fully.

The fragmented lava rocks from the shattered stone axe froze instantly.

The temperature in the space soared, akin to the molten lava of a volcano, but it did not affect York.

"Roar!"

The King of the Giants growled, right fist clenched, punching towards the tiny ant-like York.

The air currents around the fist blew away the floating debris, causing York's robe to flutter wildly.

York threw the Divine Judgement Axe, aiming at the wrist of the giant's massive fist.

Though the giant's attack appeared formidable, and its power was significant, the essence of its material was still just stone. Its upper limit was predetermined. As long as one could withstand its massive weight and power, it would become a manageable task.

The Divine Judgement Axe, seemingly sentient, avoided the direct punch and struck the wrist above.

With a loud crash, the incoming fist was severed, but due to inertia and weight, it continued its momentum towards York.

At the same time, York waved his right hand, and a surge of telekinetic power halted the giant stone fist. In the next second, propelled by telekinesis, the shattered stone fist, along with other debris, surged towards the giant's head.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Multiple boulders struck the giant's face, creating deep craters and scattering more dust and debris.

"Roar!"

The giant's head tilted back slightly from the impact.

"The bigger the body, the slower the movement and the more surface area to get hit," York remarked, retrieving the returning Divine Judgement Axe. He extended his left hand, and an invisible shield expanded around him.

Boom!

The giant's massive right arm struck the shield, shattering like an egg against a hard surface.

Effortlessly neutralizing the giant's attack, York remained expressionless as he swiftly flew downward, targeting the giant's legs.

"Roar!"

The giant roared, ignoring the damage to its face, as it lifted its right foot to crush the tiny ant-like York.

Though its size restricted its movement, York's flight speed allowed him to dodge under the descending foot and continue upward, swinging the Divine Judgement Axe at the giant's right knee.

The enchanted axe, with its divine power and true damage, struck true.

Crack!

A clear fissure spread, quickly expanding.

The giant's right leg shattered, the foot separating from the leg, causing the giant to topple, unable to maintain its balance.

The massive foot crashed to the ground, creating a deep crater and stirring a cloud of dust.

The ground shook violently, as if struck by a major earthquake.

The giant felt immense frustration, realizing its attacks were ineffective against the agile York, but it couldn't just give up. It reached out with its left hand to grab the flying ant.

The air whistled with the giant's attempt.

However, York had already flown behind the giant, avoiding the grasping hand.

The air currents dispersed.

York continued towards the giant's other leg, targeting its knee. As the giant turned, York was already at its left knee, swinging the axe.

As before, the giant's left leg shattered, and it fell to the ground, losing its ability to stand.

The colossal body crashed down, creating another massive dust cloud.

York hovered in the air, watching the giant roar in fury, showing no emotion. He continued his dismembering strategy, throwing the Divine Judgement Axe at the giant's left shoulder.

With a loud crack, the giant's left shoulder broke, and its left arm fell away.

"It's over!"

York caught the returning axe, exhaling lightly as he raised his left hand.

The telekinetic field, dormant until now, activated.

The dismembered giant, missing both arms and legs, was lifted by York's telekinesis.

The massive body, nearly a hundred meters long, floated off the ground.

Without its limbs, the giant was like a human deprived of its means of attack, completely helpless unless it could regenerate its limbs.

But York had severed its means of regeneration.

Within the telekinetic field, all physical laws and natural phenomena were under his control.

Even the stones approaching the giant were forcibly isolated.

Now, the giant was like a fish out of water, struggling in the air.

No matter how it struggled, it was futile.

York clenched his left hand, and the giant felt an invisible pressure compressing its body.

Its crystalline eyes glared at the small figure hovering in the air and roared:

"You are not Olaf!"

The voice, capable of killing with its sheer volume, gradually faded before York.

"Who are you!" the giant roared.

This fighting style was not Olaf's; it wasn't how Olaf fought. Throughout their battles, Olaf had always fought on the ground, wearing it down until it collapsed and was sealed.

York did not respond, knowing that any answer was pointless. He slowly clenched his left hand into a fist.

The giant, suspended in the air, was crushed into fine dust by telekinetic force, so small that it was invisible to the naked eye.

But York knew the giant was not dead. The dust, once free from his control, would reunite to form the giant again.

In this parallel world's rules, as long as there were stones, the giant would not disappear.

"So, sealing it is the only option."

York shifted into particle form, controlling the telekinetic field to separate the dust particles.

Crushing the giant forcibly would be too strenuous and could result in mutual destruction, but sealing it with particles was feasible.

Using stable particles and boundary particles, combined with energy particles, York enclosed the floating dust in spherical barriers.

One by one, the small barriers floated in the air.

Each barrier contained a particle of dust.

With a wave of his left hand, York sent all the telekinetic barriers shooting upwards, passing through the layers of the atmosphere, beyond the exosphere, and into space.

In the zero-gravity vacuum of space, these dust particles would float, dispersed in all directions. In time, they would drift away.

"Perhaps when the energy in the barriers depletes, you might reassemble," York murmured, tossing the Divine Judgement Axe.

With a thought, the axe vanished.

York nodded in satisfaction, pleased with the axe's performance.

Its power boost, greatly enhancing his strength, speed, and endurance, was impressive.

Every swing felt amplified, and even the giant's stone body couldn't withstand it.

Moreover, the axe's true damage could bypass the giant's defenses, striking at its essence.

York could infer Saint Olaf II's combat style from the axe.

Looking at the altered landscape, filled with debris, York imagined the battle between Saint Olaf II and the giant.

"Divine strikes, power boosts, healing light—Saint Olaf II likely wore down the giant's strength before sealing it, and thus the 200-kilometer-long Sognefjord was formed."

York muttered, cleaning up the battlefield, and noticed Alesha approaching from the direction he had come.

"Uncle York! Is it over?"

York's eyes softened at Alesha's voice, and he waved.

"It's over!"

...

Two months later.

Flåm, having regained its peace, welcomed its first batch of tourists.

In an unassuming church in the town.

"Amen, thank you for your grace."

York sat in a pew before the unchanging image of Jesus, hearing a mechanical voice as he crossed himself.

"Irene, what is it?"

Turning to Irene, who had been waiting, York noticed her transformed appearance. She had become more capable over the years.

"Bishop, Father Diego requests an exorcism permit. Here are his documents."

Father Diego was the local priest.

Hearing the term exorcism permit, York was momentarily taken aback before chuckling. He accepted the documents from Irene.

He hadn't heard the term since becoming a bishop.

Previously, he had written exorcism reports after performing them. Now, he was the one approving them.

"Why didn't Father Diego apply to Bishop Georgi? Why come to me for the permit?" York asked habitually.

Irene replied, "Father Diego did apply to Bishop Georgi, but he redirected the application to you."

York felt a bit helpless, realizing the old man intended to hand over all diocesan duties to him.

"Alright, any updates from headquarters?"

After the giant incident, York had seen the recent announcement.

In summary, he would succeed Bishop Georgi, rising from a diocesan bishop to archbishop, overseeing the Norwegian diocese.

But York suspected it wasn't that simple.

Irene shook her head. "Regarding you, the only news is that your ceremonial robe is being sent."

"Alright."

York gave up, focusing on the documents.

The exorcism request was straightforward, including details of the possessed.

"Meheriban Palomino, female, age 53."

York read about the victim, Meheriban Palomino, a resident of Lier town.

Lier was close to Flåm, separated by a large farm, making them neighbors.

During tourist season, Meheriban rented out a house to visitors and had developed several tourism ventures, making her one of the local affluent residents.

York skimmed through her personal details, finding the critical information.

Meheriban was a devout believer, spending her free time praying at the church or helping with church activities.

"Good,

 she qualifies."

York turned the page, following church regulations.

The church typically only performed exorcisms for its believers. Non-believers seeking help faced stricter scrutiny, as one must believe in demons to be exorcised.

This gave rise to exorcists like the Warrens and other medium families who assisted non-believers for fees or favors.

Many medium families grew through this, becoming influential, secretive clans intertwined with other powerful entities.
