Chapter 2: Chapter 2: The Hand of Fate Awakens
The thrill of rebirth still coursed through Lin Tianhao as he methodically dispatched the Red-Eyed Rabbits. Each arrow that found its mark not only weakened the creature but also strengthened him, a palpable sense of power growing with every passing moment.
True, the experience per kill was meager, and the copper coins trickled in like a miser's tears. But Lin Tianhao remained undeterred. His focus was singular: to maximize his "Hand of Fate."
He remembered an obscure hidden quest – collect a thousand Red-Eyed Rabbit eyes. A seemingly insignificant task for most, but the reward was a unique skill that increased his attack range, a crucial advantage for an archer.
"Ding! You have slain a Red-Eyed Rabbit. Experience +1."
"Ding! You have slain a Red-Eyed Rabbit. Experience +1."
The system notifications chimed incessantly, a monotonous rhythm punctuated by the thrum of his bowstring. Three seconds, two points of health. A minute, sixty points. A steady, inexorable climb towards an unknown peak.
Initially, it took twelve arrows to fell a single rabbit. But with practice, his efficiency increased. Ten arrows. Eight. Five.
"Ding! Your talent, 'Hand of Fate,' has been upgraded to 2 stars."
Hand of Fate (Super-Rare): 2 Stars
Effect 1: Each basic attack deals 2 points of True Damage to yourself.
Effect 2: Each basic attack permanently increases your maximum HP by 2 points.
Skill Proficiency: 0/1000.
The upgrade was palpable. Now, three arrows were enough to dispatch a rabbit. However, this increased efficiency came at a cost. He could dispatch enemies faster, but it also meant he had to move more frequently, disrupting the steady flow of health regeneration.
Despite this minor setback, Lin Tianhao pressed on. Two hours had flown by, and while his level remained unchanged, his health bar had skyrocketed from 100 to a staggering 4800.
He was a walking fortress, a testament to the power of his unique talent. Most level 2 players would be lucky to have a few hundred health points. But Lin Tianhao, with his unconventional build, was already leagues ahead.
"Attribute points, equipment… I need both," he mused, eyeing the meager rewards from his kills.
He had invested all five of his attribute points into Attack Speed, increasing it from 0.63 to 0.73. A marginal improvement, but every bit counted.
He continued his relentless grind, each arrow a whisper of power, each slain rabbit a step closer to his ultimate goal.
"Ding! You have slain a Red-Eyed Rabbit. Experience +1."
-30.
The damage numbers were climbing, a testament to his growing strength. But the constant movement to find new targets began to take its toll. He needed a more efficient hunting method.
Two hours later, his level remained stubbornly at 2, but his health bar had reached a staggering 4800 points. A testament to the raw power of his "Hand of Fate."
In Ragnarok, attribute point gains varied by class. Warriors, for example, received double the bonus to Strength, while archers focused on Attack Speed and Critical Strike. Lin Tianhao, with his unique talent, was forging his own path, a path of unparalleled durability.
He glanced at his inventory, the pile of Red-Eyed Rabbit eyes growing slowly. He was still far from his goal of 10,000, but he remained undeterred.
Suddenly, a system message appeared.
"An external device is requesting access."
Lin Tianhao checked the game time. Ten hours had already passed. It was time for dinner.
Exiting the game, he saw Zhou Xiaopang waiting for him, his face alight with excitement. "Hao, this game is incredible! It feels so real."
They headed towards the dining hall, where the other members of the gaming club were already gathered.
The club manager, a portly man named Li Haitao, surveyed the room. "Alright, let's hear it. Level, and how much coin did you make?"
"Level 4, forty-five copper," one player reported.
"Level 4, fifty-three copper," another chimed in.
The reports continued, mostly level 4s with varying amounts of copper.
Finally, it was Zhou Xiaopang's turn. "Level 5, two silver!" he declared proudly.
Li Haitao raised an eyebrow. "Not bad."
Then it was Lin Tianhao's turn. "Level 2, fifteen copper."
Li Haitao's face contorted in anger. "What the hell, Lin Tianhao? Everyone else is level 4, and you're only level 2?"
"I was watching the trailer," Lin Tianhao replied calmly.
"The trailer?! You wasted precious leveling time watching a trailer?!" Li Haitao exploded. "This club doesn't need dead weight! Pack your things and get out!"
Lin Tianhao remained unfazed. He knew that this was just the beginning. His journey had just begun, and nothing, not even the wrath of his club manager, could stop him. He would become stronger, faster, more powerful. He would become a legend in the world of Ragnarok.
And the world would tremble before the might of the Snow Emperor.
