Volume 1 Chapter 64 - Everyone misunderstands me
Upon arriving at the rear of the Ikebukuro Guild in a taxi, I passed through the parking lot and entered the guild through the back door.
Once inside, I walked through the corridor and came out behind the reception desk.
By now, the guild staff completely ignore me when I come in from the back.
Feeling as though I’d become part of the guild staff, I exited the reception area and entered the lobby.
Unusually, there were several adventurers in the lobby. As soon as they saw me, they pulled out their smartphones and averted their eyes.
More internet gossip, huh? Get over it already. Isn’t there anything else to talk about?
Somewhat annoyed, I headed towards Kaede-chan, who was at the reception desk.
“Hello.”
“Hi, hello.”
When I greeted her, Kaede-chan returned the greeting, but she was still formal. It’s understandable, but a bit lonely.
“Where’s the Guild Master?”
“Right this way.”
Upon hearing this from Kaede-chan, I retraced my steps and entered the reception area. I followed her to the door of Satsuki-san’s office.
“Branch Chief, Eleanor is here.”
“Mm-hmm.”
A nonchalant reply came from inside. Kaede-chan and I exchanged smiles, opened the door, and entered. Nanapon was already seated on the sofa, as usual, huddled up.
“Satsuki-san, stop bullying my disciple.”
I sat down next to Nanapon as I complained to Satsuki-san. Kaede-chan sat beside Satsuki-san.
“I’m not bullying her… for some reason, I’m just not liked.”
No, it’s because you threatened her with cheating.
“Well, she’s like that. Even Okita-kun is disliked quite a bit.”
“I don’t particularly dislike anyone. I just find both Okita-san and the Guild Master intimidating.”
Nanapon objected.
“Intimidating? Me? Okita-kun, I get, but me?”
“Why would you get Okita-kun? He looks like a textbook nice guy.”
“Well, you once asked me, while smiling, if I wanted the head of a kidnapper. That’s scary.”
That was obviously a joke.
“If I had brought it back, there would’ve been a massive panic in the reception lobby.”
“Could you stop labeling Okita-kun as a dangerous person?”
“Impossible. I heard from Kaede that his Swordsmanship level has reached 6. He effortlessly surpassed my ten years of effort.”
“Wow, level 6! Eleanor-san, you’re amazing!”
Nanapon is so cute. As expected from my disciple.
“Don’t underestimate my 15 years or so.”
“Do you want to test it?”
Satsuki-san’s hips lifted ever so slightly.
“You don’t even know the difference in our abilities… you small fry, just like Saegusa-san.”
“Hey, stop labeling me as dangerous.”
“…Senpai.”
Ah, she recognized me with just the “oppai.” Clearly, I have no allies here. Time to revert to Eleanor-san.
“Let’s put that aside. What about the auction? Are the contracts finalized?”
“They’re done. Smooth sailing this time as well.”
“Is it always this quick?”
“There were no complications. The winning bidders were a Japanese company and a rich individual from England. Companies want to avoid trouble, and the English guy paid immediately before heading back.”
“Rich people are something else.”
“Can we get the money today?”
“It’s already transferred to your accounts. Well, your account is actually mine.”
She’s not planning to run away with it, is she?
“What about Nanaka-san?”
“She’s got it too. Nanapon, be careful how you use it.”
“I understand. I’ve had enough of mishaps.”
“Even so, you’ve already bought a 5 million yen staff.”
Kaede-chan snitched.
“You…”
“Learn your lesson.”
“Is that all for today? If so, we’re going on an adventure.”
“That’s it for now. Be careful, other adventurers know you have money.”
“I’m aware.”
Hmph, who do you think you’re talking to? The me who has a level 6 in Swordsmanship?
“Don’t get cocky. I can tell you’re feeling yourself.”
…Annoying. I don’t have anything else to be proud of, so let me have this one.
