Escaping The Wolf Realm

Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Kill The Witch

She raised herself from her prone position at a snail's pace, puzzled. Moving her head, she tried looking for a gap in the hay so she could peek out.

She must've failed somehow, made a movement or not been quiet enough.

Because just the next second a hand had reached inside the pile of hay, grabbed her hair from the roots and dragged her out.

A scream tore out of her throat at the attack as she was harshly pulled.

Her body bumped in corners and scraped from the rough ground as the assailant hauled her out to the middle of the barn, tossing her like a sack to lay in the middle of the floor.

Kira squirmed, holding her head at the sudden onslaught. Tears sprang from her eyes as her cries filled the small room. She had trouble concentrating on anything but her pain right now.

That was her first mistake, for she didn't see the foot coming.

The kick was aimed right at her stomach, and her breath was knocked out. She threw her hands around, trying to defend herself from the person in the dim light from a far off window, but the kicks continued. A specially sadistic another kick aimed at her knee made a horrid cracking sound.

A pain-filled scream filled the night.

She didn't register the barn door opening again, only made aware of the new presence by the sound of a muffled voice.

"...and you..."

"...needs..."

𝘕𝘰, 𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦, 𝘯𝘰...

If she was scared earlier, the thought of there being two people, not one one, she had to get away from made her petrified.

Getting her gasps under control, she tried to focus in on the conversation.

"...are you doing? Boroh, you said you could help her!" The hushed scolding voice- it was a woman.

"I am helping her! Noiara, I am setting her free!" Her attacker- the large man- didn't bother whispering.

"Shh! You'll alert Shira! She should be coming back any minute!" ...What? Shira?

Kira opened her eyes, looking blearily at the arguing pair. In the limited brightness, she could only make out the woman- the man was facing away from her.

It was the lady out front, the second woman who had been guarding the place with Shira.

The woman who was supposed to be the lookout.

She chuckled at her own luck, which instead came out as a racking cough.

'Sold out, seriously?'.

The woman's gaze flitted to Kira at the sound. Her sudden worry-filled expression did not do anything to convince Kira in the slightest.

The man, Boroh, turned around to glance at the woman's distraction. Kira tried to place the face- it was familiar...

...Oh right.

He was one of the main henchman in the Kira-hunt tonight.

He looked now just as he had looked earlier when storming Suki's house- daunting and build as a house.

On seeing his victim's attention, he sighed heavily, as if it was all terribly inconvenient for him, and stepped towards her.

A strangled sound escaped Kira as she aborted her staring and desperately tried to find purchase on the rough floor, anything to try and get away.

It was useless.

He was upon her in two steps, and bending down, he fisted his hands in the collar of her shirt, pulling her up.

Pleading noices escaped her, her nails trying and failing to get him to loosen and drop his grip.

Noiara gave a startled gasp from behind the man, calling him out demandingly but it failed to catch either of their attention.

"You demon-sympathiser, you think you can bring your vileness to this village- to MY village- and get away with it?"

His spittle flew in her face, another hand grabbing her chin to hold up her dropping face.

"Oh...you took a fine form- a helpless woman. You think we don't know your tricks?!"

"Boroh! Careful! We don't want to hurt her! Remember- it is only the wicked spirit inside her that we need to get rid of!" Noiara screeched from behind. They looked like they had had this conversation numberous times before.

"Boroh, you need to listen to me!" He either didn't hear, or didn't care. "We can't kill her Boroh! She is Mimi's friend!"

He sighed, irritated, and dropped the woman in his hold roughly on the floor. Kira turned on her side, winded.

Turning again to the woman in the back, he enunciated, as if to a child.

"Noiara, wife, for the last time- we are not the ones hurting her, the evil inside her is. We are only forcing the evil to get out." His hold on her shoulders was equally soothing and condescending, "And for that- the body needs to suffer. You know this."

Noiara shook her head, frantic.

"No, you listen to m-" But Boroh had already turned away from her, even as she shouted iat his back, "Boroh!"

He was making his way back to the woman who lay sprawled on the ground.

The temporary respite that Kira had been feeling blew away, as she lay helpless. After being beaten up the way she was- she could only continue groaning and watching.

"Boroh-Boroh! What are you doing?! LISTEN TO ME!"

All of Noiara's previous attempts at getting Boroh to spare Kira had turned into her demanding him to listen to her

"You always do this! You NEVER listen to me!! Why don't I MATTER TO YOU?!"

'𝘖𝘩, 𝘪𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘨𝘰𝘥- 𝘰𝘳 𝘨𝘰𝘥𝘴, 𝘰𝘳 𝘨𝘰𝘥𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴, 𝘐'𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘺- 𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦, 𝘥𝘰 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘦𝘭𝘴𝘦'𝘴 𝘥𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘶𝘦𝘴...'

Boroh ignored his wife, and picked Kira up, put her neck through a noose she hadn't realised he had with him. Pulling the end to make sure it was tight enough, he let her drop to the ground like trash, walking away to the wall where stood the wooden beams holding the structure up.

Noiara was still shouting and screeching, picking things and throwing them at Boroh in anger when he wouldn't respond.

Each step he walked away made the dread inside her build up. Kira knew what was happening.

Her hands made a last, desperate attempt to find the end of the noose, to find something to hold on to.

"You always do this! First my father, and now you! None of you listen to me! I am NOT STUPID!"

The rope suddenly pulled taught, and Kira was as she had feared, yanked behind it.

She screamed even as her nails scraped and scratched and finally broke and bled on the floor, leaving behind a trail of blood.

The sounds of Noiara screaming to Boroh about how he should be listening to her, caring and loving her were background noise at this point. None of it registered. Not anymore.

Kira's breaths were strangled, and she comprehended that althought Boroh had stopped walking, he was still pulling on the rope.

Her neck, and then her back lifted off the ground.

Turns out he had thrown the rope over one of the rafters.

Only squeaks escaped Kira, her hands floudering, legs beating the ground.

Boroh pulled, his muscles bulging from the strain.

"Die, you hag! There is no place for you here! Die and go back to where you CAME FROOOOM!" Yelling, he turned and pulled the role over his shoulder with all his might.

Her legs finally left the ground, twitching just inches away from the earth they desperately tried to reach.

Choking, gagging, the wind escaped her. She swung from the noose, legs kicking the air, pathetic sounds escaping her throat.

It would have been heroic, the way he came to save the day and kill the evil witch...

...had she not been the evil witch in the scenario.
