Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking

Chapter 626: Little Ferdinand

--

"Ooh! Look at you! So adorable!"

Giggles!

Cedric's face bloomed with a smile, his heart leapt in joy as he heard his first grandson's chirpy laughter for the first time.

It takes him back to the days when he first held his sons. Unknowingly, enough time has passed that his sons are now at the age where they would start a family.

The little one, Ferdinand, as his parents named him, giggled some more, seemingly finding it funny that the giant who's holding him was damn near about to cry. He stretched out his small but chubby arms, reaching out to the few strands of hair the giant had dangling not too far from him.

"Oh, you like Grandpa's hair? Here you go; you can play with it as much as you want." Cedric cooed, willingly allowing the child to hold on to his hair.

Not far from him, his wives as well as the parents of the little one watched with smiles on their faces. It's always a spectacle whenever Cedric openly displays his affection to his family; obviously, the little one was receiving it for the first time.

Chrissy took this time to look at the resting Allura. She placed a hand on her face and asked, "How are you feeling?"

Allura mustered up a smile and said, "I'm okay, Mom. Just a little spent."

She then felt her husband tightening his grip on her hand, not too tight, just firm enough to remind her that he's here and he's watching. The gesture was more than enough to make her feel safe, as always.

"That's good." Chrissy sighed in relief. She then looked at her husband and said, "Hey, old man, stop hogging the baby; return him to his parents. They need to rest!"

"Oh. Oh, that's right. Here!" Cedric nearly fumbled but still gently handed over his grandson to his parents. The little one obediently let go of his hair to stare at his parents with eyes filled with curiosity.

"Curious little one, aren't you?" Allura dotingly muttered, placing her child close to her heart.

He was perfect in her eyes, everything that she ever wanted and more. Allura radiated a motherly glow that she herself wasn't aware of. And Gilderoy could do nothing but stare and fall in love with the sight all over again.

Now, he finally understands a fraction of what his father felt towards them.

Cedric and his wives saw this too. But instead of commenting, they silently gave them privacy. This was a special moment that's meant to be theirs, and it's something that not even they could intrude on.

Of course, he didn't forget to secure the room before they left. Allura has just given birth and was extremely vulnerable. Although he was confident that even if the world was destroyed at the next second, this sky castle would remain unshaken and still hovering above the skies, Cedric would not compromise on the safety of his family. Not once, not ever.

Godwyn and Gerald were coming too, but it'd take them some time before they arrived. It would've been nice if Lennon were here too, but he's out figuring out himself.

Back to the nursery, Gilderoy felt the moment his father raised the seals. It's actually what woke him up from his stupor.

His attention returned to his wife and child, and it was here that he noticed that both of them were barely awake. Allura was already nodding off, and Ferdinand was half-lidded.

Gilderoy's heart jumped a bit, and before he knew it, he was already moving. He adjusted the bed so that Allura could rest more comfortably. He then silently and gently took the child from her, almost having to fight her firm hold on him. If he hadn't reminded her that he's here, she has to rest, and everything will be fine, she'd probably fight him because of this.

Ferdinand didn't raise a fuss. He just yawned, which made his father's heart melt in adoration, and snuggled deeper in his hold.

As he hummed a tune to lull the little one to a deeper sleep, he was reminded of how challenging this pregnancy was for them.

They've been planning to have a child for the last five years. They figured that they're already mature and prepared enough to start a family life. Gilderoy was raised by a good family and learned how to properly arrange his priorities, and Allura, well...she's been dreaming of this all her life; it's all she ever wanted, to start a family with a good husband.

However, their being an interracial couple made conceiving a little more challenging.

Allura knew that it was because of her.

She has lived long enough and seen enough of the human civilization to know that reproduction was the least of their worries. Humans are so blessed in this aspect that unexpected pregnancy sometimes becomes a problem to them, not a blessing.

She has even seen one couple managing to repopulate an entire clan, especially since they're incentivized to do so. And they did it in less than 50 years.

Sure, the stronger one was, the more difficult it was to conceive. This is true even for humans, but compared to other races? It's still a world of difference.

Allura hasn't slept around with many people, but she still vividly remembers how active and abundant Gilderoy's seed was the first time they spent a night together. She's a Mystic Fae, after all. She's naturally inclined to notice these things.

She remembered being surprised and doubtful. She initially thought that he was just trying to impress her, or that day was just different, but no. She's wrong. As a matter of fact, that day happened when Gilderoy was a bit weak. Allura later then found what's 'normal' for him, and she was floored.

So, she understands that if there's someone who delayed them, it's her, not him.

Actually, she had to thank her father-in-law for this. Because if he hadn't rediscovered the Ancient Chaos Path, Allura wouldn't have been able to improve her bloodline and remove herself from the limited fertility of her kind.

The pregnancy itself was weird: the cravings, the sudden mood shifts, the pain, limited mobility...and the length of the pregnancy itself. They experienced the little hints coming from the difference of their native race.

Allura's pregnancy lasted for two whole years, not the usual nine months for humans or a decade and some for Mystic Faes. Because Ferdinand was carrying both of their bloodlines, his nutritional needs were different right at the start, causing her to crave unusual things that made even Cedric raise an eyebrow.

But everything was provided to her when she needed it. Gilderoy didn't compromise with his wife and child's needs. And the moment he came out and the both of them laid their eyes on him for the first time, they all knew that everything was worth it.

"We're going to have so much fun together, son." Gilderoy lovingly whispered to his sleeping son while sitting at the edge of Allura's bed.

"I'll be with you at every step of the way. I promise."

**

'Void, how long before the Spatial Storm's over? '

A hundred years, in my careful estimate, sir.

'I see. There's still some time then.'

Cedric was relieved, at least. A hundred years should be more than enough to settle everything before he leaves.

His wives were already used to it; they could even tell when his departure was coming. His sons have grown independent now; they don't need him around anymore.

Last time he checked, Godwyn was already engaged, and Gerald was planning to settle down too. It shouldn't take too long before they too start their own family like Gilderoy.

With his grandchildren around, his wives shouldn't be too lonely when he leaves again. That's why the spatial storm lasting for a hundred years more was good news to him.

And it's not like he'd be gone right away once the spatial storm was over.

Cedric has always been cautious, especially when it comes to exploring areas he'd never been to before. Even more so for where he's about to go.

He wasn't in a hurry. He planned on sending out a clone first. His goal was to understand the terrain and become more familiar with the concept laws of the Primitive Universe.

The Void Slave told them that the laws in here were immature and wouldn't even fit the standards of the most fundamental concept laws of the Chaos Realms. So, while Cedric and the Chancellors could be considered as Immortals, in truth, they are very inferior ones.

Knowing this, it stands to reason that the very first thing he must do was to bridge the gap. Since there are humans out there too, he couldn't appear too strange or too different.

So, before he starts making contact with the human civilizations out there, he must first do his best to appear like them. Only then would he be able to minimize their suspicions and protect this little prison where his family resided.

As for what he'd do afterwards, that depends. There are a lot of things he wanted to know, but rushing wouldn't be the answer. He needs to be flexible, so his next actions will depend on the situation he'd find himself in once he inevitably arrives there.
