Duel in a Sword & Magic World: Girls Spirit Duelist

Chapter 66: DSMW [66]

"Pfft, isn't this the weakling that broke the summoning record? Hilarious."

Luca mocked without restraint. Compared to her previously gentle and friendly demeanor, the soul-swapped Luca was clearly far more aggressive and arrogant.

"A weakling with 300 Attack, how is that supposed to stand against a 2400 Attack Fallen Angel? I suggest you surrender now—it's embarrassing. I'll end my turn."

She set her hand down and declared her turn over. Although her finishing blow was barely blocked by [Counter Gate], Luca didn't believe that a measly Kuriboh could shake her victory.

"Stand against the Fallen Angel? Oh? Is 2400 Attack supposed to be impressive?" Miles retorted.

"Don't play dumb. I know for a fact that the strongest monster in Fusion Academy's freshman class is Kevin's [Red-Eyes Black Dragon] with 2400 Attack."

"Then there's no doubt your intel is outdated."

Miles pressed his finger against the deck of Elves' Eyes, feeling a tingling current surge from his fingertips through his whole body. He knew—that card was here.

This was a 20-card duel. The longer the duel dragged on, the higher the probability of drawing key cards.

"My turn! Draw!"

The card pinched between his fair fingertips sliced through the air like a bolt of lightning.

A roaring demonic force erupted as soon as he drew, as though thunder struck around Aisha's body.

"Come! I tribute [Relinkuriboh] on my field to Tribute Summon!"

Bathed in the light of the Tribute Summon, Relinkuriboh slowly faded, transforming into a beam that soared into the sky, guiding the descent of a higher-level monster.

"Little Ai... actually used a Tribute Summon?"

Other than that one time when Kevin's [Red-Eyes Black Dragon] got banished by [Exchange], Irene had never seen Aisha perform a Tribute Summon before.

After all, with a deck full of weak monsters, there was never a reason to Tribute.

Kaima said seriously, "But can a single Tribute really summon something that rivals a Level 7 [Red-Eyes Black Dragon] in Attack?"

"Tribute Summon! Thunder Demon—Summoned Skull!"

[Summoned Skull] Level 6│DARK│Fiend│2500 ATK

A towering demon clad in ghastly white bones descended and stood firm on Aisha's field.

More than its terrifying appearance, the demon's Attack stunned everyone present.

"A Level 6 monster summoned with just one Tribute... actually has higher Attack than Red-Eyes Black Dragon?!"

"Aisha Carlos... actually has a monster this strong in her deck?!"

"Is this really the same bottom-ranker from before?"

The power Aisha displayed in this duel was utterly jaw-dropping, as if she had undergone a complete transformation.

The girl who used to barely scrape by with weak monsters—when did she become someone who could wield a monster like [Summoned Skull] with ease?

"Aisha Carlos... what an absurd growth speed," Kaima commented.

Irena teased with a smile, "What, feeling nervous now, Kaima? If Aisha keeps growing like this, maybe one day even you won't be able to beat her."

"Hmph! Impossible!"

"When [Relinkuriboh] is Tributed, I can draw 1 card. Then—battle! [Summoned Skull]! Blast that angel into dust with the thunder of demons! 'Demon Lightning'!"

Guiding the lightning from the sky, a thunderous blast struck down. With a 100 Attack point advantage, [Fallen Angel of Roses] was shattered in a roar of lightning.

[Luca, LP: 800 → 700]

"Is this really a duel meant for a practical exam?"

The surrounding students were utterly dumbfounded.

The battle between Aisha Carlos and the transfer student Luca Slint was far beyond what a first-year student should comprehend.

First, Luca unleashed two 2400 Attack black-and-white angels. Then Aisha countered with a 2500 Attack [Summoned Skull].

This was supposed to be a 2000 LP, 20-card test duel. Yet the two fought as if the sky was falling, with storms and thunder constantly clashing.

"So [Summoned Skull]... really was what took down Dekul."

Luca muttered under her breath, holding the now-destroyed Fallen Angel card.

"When [Fallen Angel of Roses] is destroyed, it doesn't go to the Graveyard but is banished instead."

"I set one card and end my turn."

Miles set his Trap Card [Pinpoint Guard], which he had drawn this turn thanks to [Relinkuriboh]'s effect.

If the strategy proceeded smoothly, next turn he could summon the Court of Cards trio onto the field. Together with [Summoned Skull]'s Attack, it would be enough to deliver a finishing blow.

"My turn! Draw!"

Under the pressure of [Summoned Skull], Luca drew a Trap Card—[Magic Cylinder].

An insidious and deadly trap, especially in a 2000 LP test duel. It would reflect the Attack of an opponent's monster directly back as damage. One careless move, and the opponent could instantly lose.

"Honestly, it's harder to lose at this point."

It didn't matter that Aisha had defeated Dekul. In Luca's eyes, a Duelist of Dekul's caliber was a disposable pawn.

Now, Luca merely needed to set this Trap and wait for [Summoned Skull] to attack next turn to claim victory.

Of course, knowing Miles' cautious nature, Luca wasn't ruling out the possibility that he'd probe the field with a weaker monster first.

"Better to play it safe—just overpower them outright."

Without immediately setting [Magic Cylinder], Luca drew another card from her hand.

"Quick-Play Spell—[Burial from a Different Dimension]! I can return my banished [Fallen Angel of Roses] to the Graveyard."

A Spell that retrieved a monster from the Banished Zone back to the Graveyard, moving the Fallen Angel back.

Aisha speculated, "Bringing the Fallen Angel back to the Graveyard... is she setting up for Monster Reborn?"

Miles said, "Even if the angel is revived, its Attack is still lower than [Summoned Skull]. I doubt it's that simple."

"A mere [Summoned Skull]... thinking it can block my advance? Ridiculous."

Drawing a monster card from her hand, the corners of Luca's rosy lips curled into an unbeatable smile.

"This is the difference in our levels as Duelists. [Summoned Skull] may be your strongest card... but to me, it's nothing!"

Dark and light energy swirled around the card, pinched between Luca's fingers.

"Let me show you the gap, Aisha Carlos."

"Light and darkness, black and white, Ren and demon intertwine into the angelic form! I banish the [Queen Angel of Roses] in my hand and the [Fallen Angel of Roses] in my Graveyard—Special Summon! Descend, Rosaria, the Stately Fallen Angel!"
