Duel in a Sword & Magic World: Elf Girls Spirit Duelist

Chapter 49: DSMW [49]

"Raising their swords perfectly in sync, the Pharaoh's trio of knights stood at attention in flawless formation.

With a commanding gesture, the Pharaoh declared his battle phase.

"Switch [Queen's Knight] to Attack Position. Now, Poker Knights—attack!"

The coordinated sword strikes of the three knights surged toward Miles's field. It was clear—they didn't even register Mokey Mokey's DEF: 100 as a real defense.

Aisha said, "Th-This is bad! With just one Mokey Mokey, we can't stop all three knights!"

Indeed. [Queen's Knight] would destroy Mokey Mokey, and the remaining two knights would attack directly—inflicting 3500 damage. Miles would be pushed straight to the edge of defeat.

"Don't panic yet, Aisha. I saw this Poker Knights play coming."

It was cool—but in the anime, the Poker Knights were also known as "tribute fodder." Miles remembered that well.

At least the Pharaoh hadn't followed with "Kami da, summon!" yet. This was just a knight swarm.

"If it's a 3v3 fight they want... then let's answer in kind!"

Raising Aisha's slender arm, Miles flipped his face-down Trap.

"—Trap Card activate: The League of Uniform Nomenclature! Target [Mokey Mokey] on my field and Special Summon two more from the Deck!"

[Target 1 face-up Level 2 or lower Normal Monster you control; Special Summon as many monsters as possible with the same name from your Deck.]

A Trap built to support the lowest of low-level monsters. But the activation requirement? You had to have one face-up on the field.

That's why Miles insisted on summoning Mokey Mokey in face-up Defense last turn.

The "mental pollution" effect? Just a bonus.

"Let's go—Mokey Mokey triple formation to counter the Poker Knights!"

[Mokey Mokey, DEF: 100]

[Mokey Mokey, DEF: 100]

[Mokey Mokey, DEF: 100]

Three tofu angels floated together, forming a wall of pure, squishy defense.

"3v3. Fair fight. Let's go, Mokey Mokey!"

Mokey Mokey — destroyed.

Mokey Mokey — destroyed.

Mokey Mokey — destroyed.

K.O.

Fair fight? Balanced? Nah, total nonsense.

The Poker Knights sliced through them like butter. Miles's field was wiped clean.

The Pharaoh lowered his Duel Disk slightly.

"These monsters... are they part of this world's power system? Summoned through Yuna's bond with them?"

"Exactly."

"Then tell me, Miles... what do you think... of monsters with such pitiful battle power?"

Inside the Millennium Puzzle, Aisha panicked.

"What does he mean?! Pitiful?! This feels like a public execution... W-Why such a brutal question?!"

Miles thought for a second, eyes narrowing.

"I believe... every card, every monster, has meaning. Instead of fixating on whether fate made something weak or strong... the question is, how do you use it? That's what matters. Monsters... and Duelists alike."

Aisha thought, 'So that's how Miles sees my monsters...'

"Maximizing the power of the weak... Heh. You are exactly the kind of Duelist I expected, Miles."

The Pharaoh smiled faintly, but whether it was in approval... was unreadable.

"Now... show me what strength you can bring forth. Turn end."

Poker Knights x3 and a 1 set card stood on his field... while Miles had nothing.

"My turn. Draw."

Miles's eyes flicked across his drawn card.

"It's here."

The Spell Card—[Polymerization].

If there was any card in Aisha's deck that could turn the power of weak junk monsters into something more... it was this. A card gifted to them by Irene.

Aisha said, "Polymerization... But... what can that even do, Miles? There are no HEROes in my deck. Only... weak, effectless Normal Monsters."

"That's exactly what we need. No effects. Just... bones. Fusion of the fallen."

Sliding [Polymerization] into his hand, Miles played another card into the Graveyard.

"—Spell Card activate: Dark Factory of Mass Production!"

[Target 2 Normal Monsters in your Graveyard; add them to your hand.]

"I recover two [Mokey Mokey] from my Graveyard back to hand."

Aisha muttered, "Y-You're not saying... You're gonna..."

"Exactly. I'm fusing two Mokey Mokeys! Even two blocks of purest tofu... can become something mighty. This... is the miracle of Fusion!"

Tossing the recovered Mokey Mokey and [Polymerization] skyward, the fusion spiral ignited. Even those two useless blobs were accepted by the swirling light.

But what emerged... had absolutely nothing to do with tofu.

"ROOOOOAAAAAR!!"

A dragon's roar tore through the mountains, shaking the forest leaves.

Out of the fusion spiral came a dragon bigger than even [Red-Eyes Black Dragon]—a massive azure beast whose wings could blot out the moon.

"Roar! The miracle of fusion from humble bones—awakening the primal soul of the ancients! Fusion Summon—First of the Dragons!"

[First of the Dragons] Level 9│DARK│Dragon│Fusion│2700 ATK

Even as a soul-state, Aisha stared, jaw slack, as the dragon spread its wings.

"Fusing... two Mokey Mokeys... into this... Is that really possible?! How... how did you do this, Miles?!"

Miles grinned, borrowing Aisha's lips.

"How? Easy. Fusion Summon... just needs the right materials."

[First of the Dragons]—materials: "2 Normal Monsters."
