Dream a Nightmare

Chapter 20: Battle in the Chasm

/perspective shift TommyInnit

Tommy and Tubbo pelted Dream with arrows, but it wasn't enough. He had armor, and many of the arrows didn't do much to harm him. His arrow, on the other hand, did quite a lot of damage to Tommy and Tubbo. Under fire, he was shooting back with his enchanted crossbow.

Tommy was shouting, but he couldn't tell what. Or even if they were words. He was angry. Very angry. He knew that much. He wanted to kill Dream. So badly. He hardly even cared if this would get him the disc back at this point. He hated Dream. He was a bully. Taking things, stealing, just because he could. It wasn't right. And he, TommyInnit, was going to stop it.

Each arrow carried more anger with it. Dream wanted to push him down? Take his things because he had decided it was right? Well, Tommy wouldn't allow it. Dream was going to die here, just like he had killed Tommy when they had fought him before.

If Dream was going to rule by strength of arms, then Tommy was going to show him that they were stronger. His bow seemed to cut deeper as they continued to trade arrows. Surely Dream couldn't think he would win this exchange. They had two people on him. He had to come down sooner or later.

And, as it happened, the answer was sooner.

Dream leaped from the gravel towards Tommy, and he swiped down. Tommy raised his shield, blocking the heavy blow, and grunted at the impact. He was jarred out of action by the powerful blow, but Tubbo was able to stop Dream from taking advantage of his weakness by attacking with his own axe.

Then Tommy joined the fight, and they both tried to hit him. Tubbo smashed his axe into Dream's chest plate, and Dream took the hit, growling, and attacked Tubbo with his sword. Tommy leaped in and blocked the blow with his shield, but that left his side open to Dream.

Dream attacked Tommy with the edge of his shield, and the metal lining made Tommy cry out. He backed away, and luckily, Tubbo did as well. There were two of them, and they were facing one of Dream. Dream had a superior weapon, but it wasn't an axe, so he couldn't break their shields, like they could his. However, he also had superior armor. It would be difficult.

In a mad rush, they very well could win. It would only take a bit of luck. Or maybe a lot of luck. But they didn't have much chance now.

Tommy stared into those two spots of black paint, and found his rage cooling. Like iron, it was being forged in fire, then set to cool. His anger coalesced into a solid determination. They would do this. They had to. If they didn't, then who would? Who would stop Dream from terrorizing the people? Who would stop tyranny?

He could imagine the smirk beneath Dream's mask as he stared them down, his posture completely confident, and Tommy growled. It was a low, animal sound, surprising even Tubbo. Tommy ignored Tubbo's raised eyebrow, crouching down slightly in preparation for another round of fighting.

Together, Tommy and Tubbo attacked Dream. Dream held up his shield, but the first hit from Tubbo disabled it, letting Tommy slam his axe onto Dream's shoulder. Dream swiped back, but Tommy put up his shield, and Tubbo hit Dream while he was attacking Tommy. Tommy saw an opening as Dream turned his head to meet Tubbo's attack, and lowered his shield, raising his axe high to strike.

This could end Dream. One final stroke. His axe began to fall, and then Dream turned his face towards Tommy. As Tommy saw those twin spots of black paint turn and reflect the light of the lava, his eyes widened.
