Dragona's Awakening: MMORPG System

Chapter 2: The Prophecy

It was already morning, and as usual, Ryuichi woke up at 5 a.m for his morning routine. He headed to the kitchen, ready to start his day, when a DING suddenly echoed, projecting a notification into his field of vision.

Quest Contract Accepted: Become the Strongest

Do 50 push-ups

Do 50 sit-ups

Do 50 squats

Run 5 kilometers

Kill 20 Stealth Sabers

If this quest is not completed by the end of the day, you will suffer a penalty.

Ryuichi frowned. "A quest? What kind of nonsense is this? I didn't accept any work?," he grumbled. "I cant even kill one of those things..."

There was rumors of victims cursed by warlocks, and those tales never ended well. Some people had seen women of their dreams appear night after night, fulfilling their deepest desires. It all seemed to start innocently, with trivial tasks like throwing a stone into a river, but the quests gradually became more demanding until the victims ended up sacrificing all their fortune, enslaved by these dark sorcerers.

Scanning his surroundings with caution, Ryuichi found no obvious signs of a curse. Yet, a lingering unease persisted, like an invisible shadow hovering around him. Wasting no time, he decided to head to the mages' district.

"This is weird, Am I cursed, it might be from that stupid elf, did he used a soul stone on me. A quest threatening me, never seen that before, not normal at all, better treat that while it is young" he thought. There was nothing much a curse could do if it was dispelled early with out damage.

He thought of consulting the priests, but religion was not his thing, he was a thief not a saint, the very thought of confronting their stern gazes, their relentless judgment, and their weighty sermons repulsed him. To them, anyone who strayed from the righteous path was seen as a monster. Just the thought gave him a headache. "No, its better to avoid that district". The shops, boring beyond belief, had never interested him. The women there all wore thick robes, concealing their bodies with excessive modesty, and the men spent their time lamenting over obscure, insignificant reasons. "Fuck No!" he thought shaking his head thinking of being there for 10 minutes.

Going into the mage district and entering a reputed fortune teller shop, Ryuichi was immediately struck by the presence of the fortune teller. Her long white hair cascaded silkily over her shoulders, contrasting beautifully with her luminous skin, almost ethereal, as if imbued with pure magic. Her deep blue eyes instantly captivated Ryuichi, like two unfathomable oceans hiding ancient secrets. Her sculpted body draped in clothes that highlighted her curves with an almost divine finesse, you could almost se her breast bulge out of her mage robe.

"Hello. How may I help you?" she asked, her voice soft but tinged with a strange curiosity.

"I think I'm under some kind of sorcery," he replied. "A strange quests has been following me, I can not break the contract, I have not accepted anything and it threatens consequences."

The woman nodded, a veil of gravity falling over her face. "I see. Sit down, and I will consult the runes." She placed her delicate hands on a crystal embedded with shimmering runes. The magical sigil lit up, casting a spectral glow in the room. She remained still for a moment, as if absorbed in a distant vision, then slowly turned toward Ryuichi.

"In shadows and flame, you are bound by fate. The threads of war have been woven for you, child of two worlds. Tread with care, for both love and loss shall be your companions. In the light of day, your eyes shall fall upon your kin, and only then will the veil lift—understanding shall be your burden. Mark this well: blessed are you, yet cursed alike. By your desires, so shall it be. The will of the Titans is upon you, and the paths stretch before you—each fork laden with peril and promise. Beware, for the crossroads teem with unseen choices, and only your hand may guide the way. The spirit of the Titan stirs in your blood, but know this—the curse, it is you."

After these words, she collapsed onto the floor, unconscious.

The woman's fall plunged the room into a heavy, oppressive atmosphere. Ryuichi, frozen for a moment by the strange chill running through his body, quickly reacted. He ran to her, holding her in his arms, shouting for help.

"Help! Someone! Are you okay?" he asked, his voice trembling with concern. The woman weakly opened her eyes and whispered:

"Yes... the universe has asked much of me. I just need rest..." Her words barely spoken, she lost consciousness again.

Her assistant, a young woman, rushed to her. "Madame Eldry! Are you okay?!" she cried before abruptly turning to Ryuichi.

"What did you do to her, thief?! Speak, or I'll reduce you to ashes!" Her eyes flared with anger, and white sparks flew from her skin as a fireball formed in her hand.

"Nothing! I didn't do anything!" Ryuichi replied, backing away slightly. "She just gave me a prophecy... and then she fainted."

"It's okay... Merinda... I'm fine..." the fortune teller murmured weakly. "Help me back to my room... I need rest..."

"M-master, are you sure you're okay?!" Merinda asked, still worried.

"Get out of here, you insolent thief, before I burn you to ashes!" Merinda spat, rage evident on her face.

Ryuichi, disoriented, left the room quickly with even taking the time to pay her anything, his heart racing, he wondered what had just happened. Was it a simple coincidence, or was this woman just an amateur incapable of breaking a curse? After all, only master warlocks could turn a man into a minion. Curious, he searched her on Noviak's network.

Madame Eldry

Madame Eldry (commonly referred to as "The Eternal") was a legendary mage renowned for her extraordinary powers and influence spanning over 350 years. She was a direct descendant of the Naxxama Clan, an ancient and revered lineage of mages who gained prominence during the War of the Ages for their pivotal role in combating dragons. Despite her youthful appearance resembling that of a 21-year-old woman, her knowledge, skill, and longevity solidified her reputation across magical and mortal realms alike. Her title, "The Eternal," symbolized her mastery over time and mortality, as well as her enduring legacy within the arcane community.

"What she is renown? Ok, what the fuck, you cant even trust the network anymore, her family might have bought their names... well that might prove they are fake, Noviak corruption and capitalism as usual, I even wonder if this was ever even took."

Back at home, Ryuichi thought long and hard about the situation. He got to the conclusion he would have to fight this curse on his own. Unfortunately, he lacked the intellect of a mage, being a thief by nature, and even the most experienced magicians struggled to break certain spells. A spell, once casted, acted like a virus, silently infiltrating the mind and body of its target, gradually sapping their willpower.

Ryuichi decided that he would not succumb to this curse. He would resist it at all costs. His plan was to combat sleep with awakening potions and stay close to the mage district in case the situation worsened and also avoid renown fake mages. "Thank God I didn't pay her, she was probably about to pull out her runes for sell and ask for 10 silver a month".

Quest failed after consuming the awakening potion.

"Fuck!" Ryuichi expected a penalty, like his legs to shatter but an message appeared:

An obstruction has caused the failure of your quest.

And before he could react, his body began to dematerialize.
