Chapter 7: Chapter 006 - The Tribunal

Shay walked up the stairs, his face a mask towards those around him. Whilst inwardly he was dreaming of happier places, outwardly his face was stone.

'How handsome.' The employees were giving him second glances. Especially the girls, but the guy with the purple-cyan hair was in on it too. Shay shivered. Inwardly, of course.

Reaching the top of the stairs, Shay took a left before two giant, oaken doors. Pushing them aside like a boss, he calmly approached the interior of the room.

A lamp was in the far corner, and a picture of a mage, a tank, and a swordsman fighting a giant black monstrosity was to his right.

To his left was a door. In front of him was a large wooden desk. Behind it was a lady.

"Kathy, I presume?" Kai spoke to the lady with the brown ponytail.

The woman smiled. "Are you here for an appointment?"

"My name is Samuel Anderson. I'm here for the field dungeon deposition."

"I see. Mr. Samuel, if you could wait one second…"

"Shay. I go by Shay." He interrupted as she was reaching for the red phone on her desk.

"I see. Shay, I'll be reaching out to the department head."

Shay smiled back and curbed his toes while he waited.

"Alright, Shay. Mr. Margarez will see you now."

"Thank you, Kathy." With his back straight he opened the door and left her behind.

No matter how much Shay wished for a woman in his life, and he DID, if he could not protect her, it was not worth it. More importantly, he had his sister Lia, to protect. No one could know of her existence, so… What's a man to do?

As he stepped in the room, the doors shut behind him. The deep crimson red of the walls highlighted the dark wood lining the interior. Before him was a desk and two chairs. Behind the desk was a man. An ooold man.

The placard read: Sr. Antonio Margarez XVIII .

"Mr. Margarez, I presume."

"Indeed. Mr. Anderson. Take a seat." The man gestured to both of the empty seats before him.

"I have a surprising *thing* before me today. I presume to know that you- know more." Gesturing at Shay, he continued. "A leader. Principled. Courageous. Uniformed. Was killed. Suprisingly, his *number two* was killed alongside him. So when he died, who did his leadership role go too? The next most powerful unit on the scale that keeps the DOGS from the CATS from the RATS."

"But no. Even she had to give her power *away.* It was *gone.* And just who did she give her leadership role to? An unranked nobody from the Baggers' Commission?"

"Yes, sir."

"TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED."

"Leader Goro decided to let everyone else do the dirty work. As he stood at the back of the lines, Emilio cleaned up the houses on the left. Lila was on healing. Crash was having fun blowing up the monsters ahead, so there wasn't much worry until they shot from our right. Goro cleaned up a building and I followed behind him to clean. A leftover goblin attacked me before I came back outside to find that piece of shit threatening everyone alongside that fool, Crash, with their lives. Commanding everyone to hand over their valuables, including weapons and armour, he had me join the men in a grouping. I could only assume that Crash was about to fire on us."

"Continue." The man said, threading his knuckles.

"A rogue BOSS came out of nowhere. It was a goblin riding in a specially mutated truck. After slamming into Goro and Crash, they were paste within a single second. It turned around and came for us."

"Lila was about to get hit, so I pushed her out of the way. After saving her life, I was in the way of the truck. I passed out. Lila and everyone else said I went through a portal, the truck hit the wrong side of the portal, and I came back after a minute. I don't know anything else. You have to believe me."

Sr. Margarez pressed a button on his desk. His desk lamp turned green. "How interesting…"
