Chapter 73: Reactions from All Sides

Yang Potian's upcoming spirit battle attracted significant attention.

In the prince's residence, Prince Xue Qinghe reviewed the latest news about Yang Potian, particularly the fact that he had achieved the Amethyst Spirit Medal, and he couldn't help but scoff, "Didn't he claim to lack battle experience and therefore didn't want to participate in this year's Spirit Master Tournament? Yet he's constantly winning battles in the Spirit Arena, undefeated, no less."

He turned to the Serpent Spear Douluo standing nearby. "Spear, as the world's only Spear Titled Douluo, what do you make of his battle prowess?"

Serpent Spear Douluo spoke up, "Your Highness, as per your instructions, I watched a couple of Yang Potian's fights. The boy's spear skills are indeed impressive. Both his spirit power and physical strength are strong, making him a near-unbeatable opponent among Soul Elders. Even a typical Soul Ancestor would find it difficult to defeat him."

"And what are his odds this time?" Xue Qinghe continued. "After all, his opponent's spirit is the Diamond Mammoth."

Serpent Spear Douluo considered this. "Your Highness, I'd say the advantage lies with Unyielding Mammoth, but it's bound to be a fierce fight."

Xue Qinghe chuckled. "If they're both as exceptional as they say, we should watch this ourselves and see which of them is truly a genius."

Many other influential forces were also stirred by the news. The Elephant Armor Clan's leader, Huyan Zhen, remarked, "A mere Soul Elder from the Po Clan dares to challenge our clan's Soul Ancestor? He's certainly bold."

"Huyan Lie has been honing his skills for years in the Heaven Dou City Spirit Arena, accumulating rich combat experience. This will be an easy victory, one that will showcase the Diamond Mammoth spirit's unparalleled defense."

Meanwhile, at Heaven Dou Imperial Academy, Yang Potian was in an uncomfortable position; his parents had shown up at dawn.

His mother, filled with worry, said, "Potian, when did you become so bold? You've barely started at the Academy, and you're already challenging someone a full level higher than you! Do you even know who your opponent is, or how strong they are?"

"Mom, don't worry. I've got this under control."

His mother was unconvinced. "What control? Your opponent is level 48, with the Diamond Mammoth spirit, clearly from the Elephant Armor Clan! From what I've heard, that brat Unyielding Mammoth is over 30, with years of Spirit Arena experience, relying on his powerful defense to bully opponents of the same rank."

Yang Potian sighed. "Mom, it's just a Diamond Mammoth spirit. It's nothing compared to your Armored Rhinoceros! I'll shatter his defense with my Break Soul Spear."

His father, Yang Zhentian, seemed unfazed. "Potian, what made you agree to this spirit fight? I know you wouldn't normally sign up for such a high-profile battle."

After a pause, Yang Potian replied, "Dad, lately I've been fighting Soul Elders regularly, and they don't push me anymore. So, when the Spirit Arena manager offered this, I thought I'd take it as a way to test myself."

Yang Zhentian nodded. "Very well, then, go ahead and fight your battle. We'll deal with anything that comes up afterward."

Yang Potian looked at him, surprised. "Dad, you're not worried I might lose?"

"Potian, I have a pretty good sense of your combat ability. Winning shouldn't be difficult for you; it's only a matter of how much of your true strength you show."

"I understand, Dad. If it really comes down to it, I won't push myself beyond my limits."

Yang Potian knew well the strength of his own abilities. Using the Crocodile King Spear, he could overcome or even kill his opponent. But he also understood that revealing such a trump card now would be unwise, especially before his powers were fully developed.

"By the way, Dad, now that you're here at the Academy, why don't you stay a few days? I have plenty of space in my dorm, and you could teach me more about Fusion Rings while you're here."

Yang Zhentian chuckled. "You're ambitious, aren't you? So young and already wanting to learn Fusion Rings. The Po Clan's Fusion Ring technique is unique among spirit clans—it's practically a life-or-death move, requiring extremely high physical resilience. I'd intended to wait a few more years to teach it to you, but since you're eager, I'll teach it now."

Over the next few days, Yang Potian spent his afternoons in intensive physical training, focusing on weighted obstacle courses, while his father taught him the basics of the Po Clan's Fusion Ring technique.

The Fusion Ring technique concentrated the power of all spirit rings into a single ring, channeling all spirit power into one desperate move. The Po Clan's technique was even riskier, emphasizing sheer, unrestrained attack power, as their spirit rings were all focused on offense. Stacking similar types of spirit rings created a compounded effect, but at great cost to the user's body.

After explaining the theory, Yang Zhentian repeatedly warned his son to avoid using this technique unless absolutely necessary. Yang Potian understood that the technique required exceptional physical endurance, especially for a Tool Spirit Master, so he'd likely be unable to wield it safely anytime soon.

Since Yang Zhentian and Niu Jinfeng were staying in Yang Potian's dormitory, Mr. Li Xiang had reported it to the Academy, ensuring they wouldn't be disturbed.

Finally, ten days later, it was time for the battle, and all the team members gathered to support Yang Potian, eager to see their captain's true strength.

Upon arriving at the Spirit Arena, they found it bustling with excitement. The betting counters displayed the high odds and detailed introductions of both fighters, with crowds lining up to bet on Unyielding Mammoth. Many saw this as a golden opportunity to make easy money.

Yang Potian himself joined the betting line and placed his entire savings—560,000 gold spirit coins, all he'd earned from the past three months—on his own victory.

In the main Spirit Arena, all seats were filled, and the VIP section hosted a number of high-profile figures.

Among them was Prince Xue Qinghe, accompanied by Ning Fengzhi of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan, Sword Douluo, and Ning Rongrong. Also present were Dugu Bo, the Poison Douluo, Huyan Zhen of the Elephant Armor Clan, Yang Wudi of the Po Clan, Niu Gao of the Imperial Clan, and even some members of Spirit Hall.

Prince Xue Qinghe was primarily interested in assessing Yang Potian's talent.

Ning Fengzhi hadn't planned to attend, but upon learning Yang Potian would be fighting, Sword Douluo had shown enough interest that they'd all come to watch.

Dugu Bo had been dragged along by his granddaughter, and, given his current relationship with the Po Clan, he thought it prudent to lend them his support.

The other spectators were mostly people with ties to one or both fighters.

As for Yang Potian's father, mother, and teammates, they took their seats in the front of the fighters' section to watch the match.
