Chapter 324: Chapter 324
Ye Feng ignored the stunned expressions on Gu Ni and Ya Fei's faces. His gaze shifted toward a shadowy corner of the courtyard. "Since you're already here," he said indifferently, "why bother hiding?"
The moment the word "hiding" left his lips, a wave of oppressive energy rippled out in that direction.
In the next instant, a man emerged from the darkness, blood trailing from the corner of his mouth.
"Jia Xingtian!" Ya Fei cried out in disbelief.
She recognized the man in linen robes immediately.
Though he appeared plain at first glance, his eyes were unusually deep, and he carried an aura far beyond that of an average man. It was a presence refined through countless trials—regal, commanding, and forged by a life of discipline and loyalty.
Jia Xingtian—the Royal Guardian of the Jia Ma Empire. One of the ten strongest experts in the empire. A man of royal blood, whose sole mission was to protect the Jia Ma Empire and eliminate any threat to the royal family.
Right now, that very man stared at Ye Feng with unmistakable fear in his eyes. Two heavy titles escaped his mouth like a burden: "Dou...Zun..."
"Dou Zun!" Ya Fei's expression turned solemn as she looked at Ye Feng.
"He's really reached the Dou Zun realm?" Gu Ni's voice cracked in disbelief. His eyes were wide as he stared at Ye Feng as if seeing a monster. "That's impossible. He's still so young. His alchemy skills have already reached Tier Six, and now he's also a Dou Zun?"
As a skilled alchemist, Gu Ni understood better than anyone how difficult it was to master even one path. Most people could only focus on one field to achieve greatness. Yet this youth before him had reached heights in both alchemy and cultivation that could only be described as legendary.
Human potential is finite. How could Ye Feng possibly be a Dou Zun?
Ya Fei, however, didn't doubt Jia Xingtian's words. For Ye Feng to injure someone at the Dou Huang level so easily, he had to be at least a Dou Zong... perhaps even stronger.
"Aren't you here to kill me?" Ye Feng asked calmly, his tone unbothered. "What's stopping you?"
His words caused Jia Xingtian—an imperial Dou Huang-level powerhouse—to break into a cold sweat despite the sweltering heat.
"Senior…" Jia Xingtian's mouth twitched awkwardly. He clasped his hands together and bowed. "You must be joking."
"You traveled all the way from the imperial capital, but you weren't planning to take action?" Ye Feng's voice dripped with sarcasm.
Half a month ago, Ye Feng had obtained the Emperor Flame, one of the Heavenly Flames. The phenomenon had alarmed the mayor of Wu Tan City, who immediately reported it to the royal family. The conclusion: someone had acquired a Heavenly Flame.
Thus, Jia Xingtian was dispatched. His mission? Confirm the identity of the person who obtained the flame—and if possible, kill them and seize it for Princess Yue'er, who was gifted in the art of refining medicine.
Naturally, as a transmigrator, Ye Feng easily deduced why Jia Xingtian had shown up uninvited.
"This is all a misunderstanding! A big misunderstanding!" Jia Xingtian laughed awkwardly. "Senior, I was merely passing by when I sensed the scent of a powerful elixir. Curiosity got the better of me, so I came to take a look."
"Is that so?" Ye Feng asked, gaze still cold.
"Yes, yes! I truly meant no offense. Senior, please forgive the intrusion. I'll be taking my leave now." Jia Xingtian bowed repeatedly, abandoning all sense of pride. His tone was respectful, void of the arrogance expected from a royal guardian.
What truly terrified Jia Xingtian was Ye Feng's ability to manipulate space—he had forcibly dragged him out of the shadows in an instant. That ability wasn't something a mere Dou Huang could possess.
Jia Xingtian was certain: Ye Feng wasn't just a Dou Zun—he might be at the ninth rank... or even a legendary Dou Sheng.
He couldn't afford to offend such a being.
"You may leave," Ye Feng said casually. "But first... break one of your legs. That's the price for trespassing into my villa without permission."
Jia Xingtian froze in place, utterly dumbfounded.
Even Gu Ni and Ya Fei were speechless from shock.
Jia Xingtian! The royal guardian of the Gamma Empire! A man that even the Miteer Clan's patriarch, Fujiyama, wouldn't dare to offend lightly. Yet Ye Feng had just demanded that he break off his own leg like it was nothing.
"If I do it myself," Ye Feng added coolly, "you'll lose both."
"..." Jia Xingtian's expression turned ugly.
He stared at Ye Feng, fear knotting his chest. He didn't dare show the slightest trace of resentment.
Suddenly, a thought struck him. He retrieved a herb from his storage ring—a mystical, mist-covered plant.
It resembled a head of cabbage but was as translucent as the finest jade, releasing a light white mist that chilled the air several degrees.
"Ice Crystal White…" Ya Fei's eyes widened. She instantly recognized it.
It was a seventh-grade medicinal herb, one of the treasures stored deep within the Jia Ma Empire's royal treasury.
Jia Xingtian bit the inside of his cheek as he handed it over, his smile forced. "Senior, this really is all a misunderstanding. Perhaps... we can resolve it peacefully?"
Ye Feng glanced at the herb and said indifferently, "You think I haven't seen medicinal herbs before?"
Jia Xingtian's heart trembled.
Even now, Ye Feng remained unmoved. He wasn't the least bit tempted.
"Stop wasting time. Break off your leg. You have the time it takes to finish a cup of tea. After that, I won't be so kind."
Jia Xingtian didn't dare wait for the tea to cool.
With a bitter expression, he put the Ice Crystal White away, raised his hand, and struck his shin with a powerful blow.
Crack!
The sound of bone shattering echoed across the courtyard. Jia Xingtian sucked in a sharp breath, cold sweat pouring from his forehead.
Even so, he still clasped his fists respectfully. "Senior, may I leave now?"
"Get out," Ye Feng said simply.
Jia Xingtian didn't dare to run. He bowed deeply—ninety degrees—before limping away as fast as his body would allow.
Even after he had disappeared from sight, Ya Fei still hadn't recovered from the shock.
If she hadn't witnessed it with her own eyes, she wouldn't have believed it.
Jia Xingtian, the guardian of the Gamma Empire and one of its top ten experts, had just been humbled like a frightened dog by a young man. Even after breaking his own leg, he hadn't dared to show the slightest bit of defiance.
"Just who is he?" Ya Fei whispered.
She was now convinced that Ye Feng couldn't possibly be from any of the nearby empires. Only someone from the Central Plains could possess such terrifying strength at such a young age.
"You wanted to see me?" Ye Feng asked casually.
"Yes." Ya Fei quickly composed herself and nodded.
"Now that we've met, what is it you want to say?"
With a slightly awkward smile, Ya Fei reached into her storage ring and took out a fifth-grade medicinal herb. "Senior, this is a small gift from me. I hope you'll accept it."
She had seen Ye Feng disdainfully ignore a seventh-grade herb from Jia Lao moments ago. She wasn't delusional—she knew her fifth-grade offering was unlikely to impress him.
But this was all she could offer for now.
