Chapter 926: 793, The Concept God Does Whatever He Wants_1
"So this thing is essentially a detection device that detects anyone or anything related to sheep within a hundred meters radius... and it must be a creature that can cough."
Emperor Xueye repeated the words to himself as he spread open his palm, revealing a smooth, purple onion on it.
As he looked up at the crowd, he suddenly noticed many people had started coughing.
Emperor Xueye found this rather curious. Carrying the onion, he walked off the stage and into the crowd, where coughing sounds echoed one after another, some of the people even unaware of why they were coughing, their expressions a mix of shock and bewilderment.
To Emperor Xueye's surprise, Gu Rong was also among those coughing.
"Why are you coughing? Do you have anything to do with sheep?"
Gu Rong shook his head in confusion, and as Emperor Xueye approached with the onion, Gu Rong's coughing became more violent, making it impossible for him to speak clearly. Each word he tried to say was interrupted by a bout of coughing.
Lin Yi: "Maybe he's born in the year of the sheep."
"Born in the year of the sheep?"
Lin Yi: "I should have mentioned before that in other planes of existence there's such a thing as the zodiac. Even though it's not present here, the reward accounts for the zodiac, and Gu Rong was probably born in the year of the sheep according to our settings."
"That, cough... makes, cough... sense."
Gu Rong, his face flushed from coughing, hurriedly pushed Emperor Xueye away, urging him to keep his distance.
Just as Emperor Xueye was about to step away, a sly smile formed on his lips as if he had suddenly thought of something. He turned back and said: "By the way, has your Iron Dragon recovered?"
"Not yet..."
Emperor Xueye: "If I'm a concept god to you, then none of your means should work on me..."
"What does Your Majesty want to do?"
"Use your second Martial Soul to attack me."
"...Fine, just put that thing away first."
Gu Rong pointed at the onion in Emperor Xueye's hand.
After the latter complied, Gu Rong immediately activated his second Martial Soul–Air.
The most basic yet effective attack of the Air Martial Soul is to create a vacuum environment around the target, and Emperor Xueye, being a normal person who needs to breathe, would definitely be affected.
Of course, this presupposes that Emperor Xueye is still considered a normal person to Gu Rong at this moment...
Gu Rong's demeanor using the Air Martial Soul was entirely different from when using the Iron Dragon; he now had an air of lightness and ethereality about him, the complete opposite of the heavy and grounded aura of the Iron Dragon state.
Gu Rong raised his hand and the moment he cast the spell, everyone felt the air around them thicken, sticky air tending to spread outwards. Yet...
Emperor Xueye seemed completely unaffected, his lips curling into a confident smile, as if the person in the vacuum wasn't him but Gu Rong!
Indeed, Gu Rong, still in midst of casting, suddenly began to float, an expression of panic on his face suggesting he wasn't doing so by his own volition.
Emperor Xueye, finding amusement in the situation, dropped his initial plan to attack, and instead stepped back with a smile: "I suddenly understand what it means to be a concept god. Next, I won't attack you; continue your attacks on me. Use whatever abilities you've got, or those who just coughed, feel free to attack me as well."
No sooner had he spoken than a large group of people related to "sheep" stepped out from the crowd, to Lin Yi's astonishment.
Gu Rong, just recovering from the shock of his uncontrolled floating, led the charge with an Air Cannon aimed straight at Emperor Xueye's chest.
"Boom!"
The Air Cannon pierced directly through Emperor Xueye's chest, blasting a bloody, gaping hole in his torso.
The sudden scene left the others, who were prepared to attack, stunned for a moment, but soon, the bloody hole began to close up with flesh fusing together, and his chest returned to normal.
Gu Rong was dumbfounded, blinking rapidly, "Your Majesty, since when did you possess such a monstrous healing ability?"
Emperor Xueye, "It's not a healing ability, you can think of your attack as ineffective because, to you, I am a god."
Quickly, a Gua Sha Master, whose Martial Soul was a knife, rushed forward waving his long blade. Emperor Xueye did not dodge or evade, allowing the blade to strike his neck.
"Crack!"
Blood splattered as a head tumbled to the ground.
Yet, the severed head wore a smile, and Emperor Xueye's hands caught it steadily, leaving the blade-wielding master petrified and collapsing to the ground.
Emperor Xueye tossed the head down, and from the neck, a pair of hands grew, fingers crawling on the ground, dragging the head to the side of the Gua Sha Master, a sinister smile forming once more on its lips.
"Ahhhh!!! How can he not die after being beheaded?!"
The Gua Sha Master ran off in fear, and his terror spread to many of the spectators.
This seemed a bit too much like having seventy-two transformations... Lin Yi narrowed his eyes.
Soon, the startled crowd launched another round of attacks, but Emperor Xueye's fallen head began to swell rapidly. Opening a mouth as vast as a cave, it swallowed countless skills flying towards it, and then, with a gulp, they vanished into the unknown.
Everyone was dumbstruck as Emperor Xueye's enormous, horrifying head stood erect on the ground, with two upright palms below its neck.
Those terrifying eyes rotated once, then gazed downward at the crowd related to "sheep," causing them to step back in unison.
"I'll go again!"
At that moment, Gu Rong seemed defiant, hovering in mid-air, arms spread wide, gathering a massive stream of air at his chest.
He launched an even more violent Air Cannon that blasted Emperor Xueye's giant head into a pulp, like an exploding watermelon.
But what happened next once again made everyone's eyes bulge.
The splattered flesh separated into dozens of parts, each chunk surging upward and slowly shaping into a miniature figure that resembled a scaled-down version of Emperor Xueye.
This conceptual god had a strong Cthulhu vibe... Lin Yi couldn't help but comment internally.
Each miniature Emperor Xueye wore a smile, speaking in unison, "To others, my actions may seem like mere illusions, but to you, everything you see is real, a manifestation of my supreme Spell."
Gu Rong's mouth trembled as he spoke, "So, Your Majesty, does that mean your attacks only affect us?"
Emperor Xueye, "Indeed, I can't even use these Spells to harm the environment. They only affect you."
After speaking, all the miniature figures pointed at Gu Rong. The next moment, Gu Rong split in half down the middle. He let out an agonized scream as his flesh, organs, and bones were clearly exposed.
The two halves of Gu Rong fell to the ground and quickly became silent.
Chen Xin, "Your Majesty, you!"
Emperor Xueye wore a faint smile, "Yes, I did indeed kill him, but as a conceptual god, I can also resurrect him."
No sooner had he spoken than the bisected Gu Rong stood up from the ground, his two halves merging back into one, all the spilt blood returning to its place, transforming back into a Gu Rong who looked terrified.
"Too terrifying..."
