Chapter 85: Chapter 85: "The Heaven Suppressing Monument—Time to Add More Names!"
Yun Feng watched Dai Mubai's reaction and couldn't help but laugh.
It seems I've left quite the shadow on him. At least he's not thinking about building camaraderie with the others, which works perfectly for me.
Satisfied, Yun Feng flapped his wings and followed after them.
"Wow, running so slow—did you skip breakfast? Looks more like a kitten than a tiger to me."
His taunts drove Dai Mubai to speed up, almost dragging Tang San along with him. Seeing the effect, Yun Feng veered off toward Soto City to pick up some cold drinks and watermelon.
This wasn't just for entertainment—he had a plan. He wanted to provoke Ma Hongjun and Oscar into harboring killing intent, ensuring their names would be engraved on the Heaven Suppressing Monument.
Time passed, and the group completed their first round trip. Although it was only one lap, they already felt like they were carrying a mountain on their backs. Their bodies grew heavier, but they pushed on with gritted teeth.
As they reached the academy gates, they were surprised to see Yu Xiaogang standing there with a table and a large bucket.
"Drink some water and keep going," Yu Xiaogang said curtly, maintaining his usual stern demeanor.
The bucket contained lukewarm water with a hint of salt, intended to replenish their electrolytes. Under Yu Xiaogang's watchful eye, each person was allowed only one cup before being sent back out.
As the sun climbed higher, its heat bore down relentlessly. The group completed their second, third, and fourth laps, each time returning to drink the salted water. Despite the strain, they managed to keep a steady pace, with even Ning Rongrong and Oscar making it through four laps without stopping.
But by the fifth lap, Oscar and Ning Rongrong began to falter. Their vision blurred, their legs felt like lead, and the baskets on their backs grew unbearably heavy.
The others, though struggling, managed to maintain their pace. Sweat poured down their faces, but their spirits held firm—at least for now.
Just as the group began their next lap, Yun Feng descended dramatically from the sky. He set up a table and chair in the middle of their route, placing the cold drinks and watermelon he had bought on display.
Taking a seat, Yun Feng began enjoying his refreshments in plain view.
When Dai Mubai and the others reached him, their eyes widened in disbelief.
"Ah, this is the life!" Yun Feng exclaimed, taking a bite of watermelon. "On a hot day like this, there's nothing better than chilled watermelon. Don't you agree, Dai Mubai?"
Dai Mubai clenched his fists but kept running, swallowing his envy and frustration as he recalled Yun Feng's earlier demonstration of strength.
Yun Feng smirked and waited for the rest to catch up.
When Tang San, Oscar, Ma Hongjun, and Zhu Zhuqing arrived, Yun Feng handed Tang San and Zhu Zhuqing a cup of iced drink and a slice of watermelon.
"You've been running so long—have a snack to cool off!"
Zhu Zhuqing accepted without hesitation, grateful for Yun Feng's kindness. She thought to herself, With all he's done for me, I owe him so much. If I have to repay him with myself, so be it.
Tang San, on the other hand, interpreted Yun Feng's gesture as proof that his years of restraint and effort were paying off.
But when Ma Hongjun and Oscar reached for the refreshments, Yun Feng pulled them back.
"One silver coin per slice, one silver coin per drink. Can't let good business go to waste—don't take it personally!"
Ma Hongjun and Oscar's eyes widened in shock.
"Why do they get it for free, and we have to pay?" Ma Hongjun demanded, pointing at Tang San and Zhu Zhuqing.
"They're my friends," Yun Feng said nonchalantly. Turning to Xiao Wu and Ning Rongrong, who had just arrived, he added, "Hey, want some watermelon and drinks? Free for you!"
Ma Hongjun and Oscar were furious. Exhausted and already in a foul mood, this blatant favoritism pushed them over the edge.
Their killing intent flared, and Yun Feng sensed it immediately. The names of Ma Hongjun and Oscar were etched onto the Heaven Suppressing Monument.
Satisfied, Yun Feng suddenly smiled.
"Relax, I was just messing with you. Help yourselves—it's on the house!"
Despite their lingering anger, Ma Hongjun and Oscar couldn't resist the temptation and begrudgingly ate. Yun Feng didn't care—he had achieved his goal.
As the girls finished their snacks, they thanked Yun Feng before continuing their laps. By the ninth lap, they were moving so slowly that it was hard to tell if they were running or walking.
The punishment had lasted three hours, and Yun Feng decided to step in. Seeing that the girls were nearing their limit, he carried them back to the academy.
Meanwhile, Tang San and the others struggled through their final lap, which took them another hour to complete.
When they finally returned, they saw Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong, and Zhu Zhuqing already resting and immediately collapsed in exhaustion, slipping into unconsciousness.
When Tang San awoke, he found himself soaking in a wooden tub filled with warm, brownish liquid. The comforting warmth enveloped his body, easing the soreness in his muscles.
Glancing around, he noticed Oscar in another tub nearby, still fast asleep. The dormitory was cramped with the addition of the two large tubs.
Stirring the liquid, Tang San caught a faint medicinal aroma and recognized its purpose: to soothe muscles, promote circulation, and restore vitality.
So they even prepared this for us, he thought. Despite everything, he felt a sense of gratitude.
