Chapter 809: Lanci Made the Wrong Meal_3

Lanci emerged from around the corner at the top of the stairs.

He saw Talia chatting and laughing with a girl with light-colored hair standing in the living room.

They were like fast friends, holding hands and talking.

"So, we have a guest."

Lanci thought to himself with a smile on his face, lifting his hand to greet the girl from the Dimensional Branch,

"Hello, I'm Professor Landry, I was just upstairs communicating and couldn't welcome you in person immediately."

Lanci said cheerfully and generously.

By the living room table, Talia's gaze shifted from the girl in front of her towards the stairs.

"My husband has just come down; he's really quite average, not as impressive as the Empire's Magical Engineering community makes him out to be. I married him quite begrudgingly."

Talia let go of the girl's hands, her words tinged with a hint of boastfulness,

"We'll eat together in a bit."

Although she didn't think much of her young apprentice, it seemed quite prestigious to have him as a husband.

The girl with light hair and purple eyes turned around, looking towards the figure at the staircase entrance.

"Lan..."

She was about to address Professor Landry when she cut herself off abruptly.

Her breath halted, and then she took another deep breath, eyes widening.

There was one person in this world whom she could recognize instantly, even if he turned to ash.

She was all too familiar with that aura, and his bearing was truly unique.

Sigrid's eyes trembled slightly, a bit in disbelief.

She had imagined a thousand scenarios for reuniting with the Saint Heir in the South Continent.

But she never expected that when they met again, he would be someone else's husband.

Thud. The apple in Lanci's hand dropped to the ground, rolling over and over.

Lanci's pupils also shook violently.

In the whole living room, only the sound of air flowing remained, but none of the three people moved.

It was like a frozen scene.

Only Talia was the first to move, looking at the two of them.

She couldn't understand why Lanci and this girl seemed to have their brains crash upon meeting each other.

Talia waved her hand in front of Sigrid's eyes but couldn't shift her gaze fixed firmly on her husband.

It wasn't until a long while later.

"Sikder, what brings you here?"

Lanci forced himself to maintain composure, squeezing out a smile, and asked.

His brain was racing, trying to make sense of everything.

If Sigrid had crossed the sea to the South Continent, it was likely she would contact the Rebirth Church's channel, which would possibly lead her to the Dimensional Branch.

And Cardinal Bishop Tolyado of the Dimensional Branch knew about the situations on the Northern Continent; naturally, he was unilaterally aware of the story between McCarthy and Sigrid!

"I guarantee to find you a perfect fiancée worthy of Principal Rocky McCarthy. You won't be able to resist falling for her!"

"You two just go to the Shadow World. When you return, I will use a teleportation spell if need be to bring over your fiancée!"

Lanci's memory seemed to return to that night a month ago.

Every single word Tolyado had said at the theater that night began to resurface in Lanci's ears, echoing in his mind like Demon Sound.

"!"

Lanci understood everything, swallowing nervously.

It looked like there was going to be big trouble.

"Can't underestimate the Saint Heir, can we? It wasn't long after turning your head to the South Continent that you married such a great wife."

Sigrid ended her sentence almost syllable by syllable.

"Wait, wife? No, fiancée, no, not fiancée either..."

Lanci was about to explain, but he saw Talia's expression growing increasingly stern.

It seemed she was very upset about Lanci going to great lengths to deny her status as his wife in front of someone else.

During the brief pause in Lanci's speech, Sigrid's mocking laughter could be heard.

"What's the matter? You care so much about her opinion that you can't go on denying it? Is she so delightful? Do you want to be with her every night, not wanting to spend even a moment apart?"

Sigrid questioned Lanci with a smile on her face.

She repeated what Miss Tata had told her, interpreting Lanci's recent expression.

"No, things aren't like that."

Lanci stood as if resigned to his fate, sweat breaking out on his forehead as he faced the two fierce figures in front of him.

Now would really not be the time to run, or it would all become even more inexplicable.

"How is it not? And... do you know each other?"

Talia looked at the girl in bewilderment, then toward Lanci, whose state seemed very wrong.

So Tolyado sent a familiar face, did he?

But she didn't recall Lanci knowing such a girl.

The ambiguous relationship between the two was so clear it was practically tangible, and Talia felt a twinge of discomfort.

"You two were even holding hands, about to have a meal together, is that true?"

Sigrid continued questioning, with each person talking past the others.

She was verifying with Lanci the seemingly fictional past she had just been told by Miss Tata.

The more she asked, the more she realized there might be some truth to Tata's words.

Lanci seemed to be verbally challenged, silent under the sharp gazes that pinned him.

If he admitted it, Sigrid would explode.

If he denied it, Talia would explode.

Either way, at least one of them was going to blow up!

"Lanci, say something."

Talia also sensed that there was something between the two.

She seemed to understand why Lanci was so vehemently denying their relationship in front of another woman, feeling an unpleasant mix of jealousy, disappointment, anger, doubt, and sadness—a complex emotion that made her particularly unhappy.

"We've clearly done that sort of thing, right? You said I was like a big grey cat that could be hugged, holding me and feeding me all afternoon."
