Domination in America, Starting from being a Boxing Champion

Chapter 579: The Children's Christmas

"Honey, take a look at this article."

Inside the Half Mountain Villa, Ivanka leaned against his shoulder and passed over The Washington Post in her hands.

Link glanced at the article Ivanka pointed out. It was a film review, commenting on his role in American Hustle.

Because in this movie he played a politician, the mayor of Atlantic City, born in the slums, beloved by the people throughout his ten years as mayor. He loved his citizens too; he was an exemplary mayor, and also a model husband who had to seek help from con artists out of necessity to raise funds for constructing Atlantic City.

The review said that this role seemed tailor-made for Link, suggesting he played this kind of role to prepare for a political career, also implying that he wanted to use this role to convey a message to the public: if he entered politics, he could become an excellent politician in the future.

The author also mentioned his father-in-law's recent activities in politics, gaining increasing influence in the Republican Party with his sponsorship and support, being touted by many media as a rising star in the political arena.

With the father-in-law being high-profile, some media used scientific methods to predict his chances of winning if he ran for the next election.

The survey's result was a winning probability of 84%, ranking him first among all candidates.

A significant factor was Link. Link was not only wealthy, but he also had extensive connections and considerable influence in showbiz, sports, Wall Street, and internationally.

With Link as a backing, his father-in-law would have many conveniences in the political arena.

Considering the father-in-law's relationships, the editors of The Washington Post believed that Link was also very likely to enter politics in the future, and his interest in such political roles also precisely demonstrated his interest in politics. Especially for someone as busy as him, if he wasn't interested, he certainly wouldn't have made time to play this role.

The article ended with a prediction, stating that after conquering the sports and entertainment industries, politics could very likely be Link's next target. "Link's immense political ambitions should not be overlooked," "Link's vast potential in politics should be taken even more seriously."

"Honey, is what they say true?"

Ivanka asked, propping up her long legs.

"It's well-founded, I can hardly refute it."

Link chuckled.

"So honey, will you also go into politics in the future, run for election like Dad?"

Ivanka asked with a playful bat of her long eyelashes.

Link looked at her increasingly graceful and beautiful cheeks, "Why can't it be you? Just like Link Music and Lionsgate Films, I'm more accustomed to being the power behind the scenes."

"Me?"

Ivanka was startled, then laughed, "Honey, you've given me a tough question. I can barely manage a company; politics is too deep a water for me."

"Don't worry, even if we decide to go into politics, it won't be any time soon. This kind of thing depends on opportunities and also on mindset. If we get used to a leisurely life, it's also okay not to enter politics. As long as we are happy, that's what matters."

Link said, wrapping Ivanka's shoulders.

Ivanka nodded her chin, leaning in his arms, together they looked at the newspaper.

Besides commenting on him, the newspaper also had reviews of other lead actors in American Hustle.

For example, Christian Bale, who gained 40 pounds for the role and appeared as balding and hunched over, was said by the media that his acting in the film deserved an Oscar.

However, Bale announced at the movie's premiere that he would not participate in any Oscars acting competition, saying, "I feel like it's like telling other actors: I like your acting, but my performance is better than yours. I don't want to take part in that."

Then there was Amy Adams' performance in the film, also highly commended, transforming into a sexy bombshell with constantly changing seductive attires and poses, portraying the image of a female con artist beautifully.

And Jennifer Lawrence, her role in the film was specifically designed by director David O. Russell, a sexy mature woman who frequently causes trouble. Her performance in the movie was consistently splendid, often stealing the spotlight from the main actors.

Additionally, several lead actors in American Hustle had worked with Russell in the past few years.

Link, Amy Adams, and Bale starred in Fighter, Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, and Robert De Niro starred in The Silver Linings Playbook.

They had collaborated with the director Russell more than twice, so the cast of American Hustle were all familiar faces, each delivering on-point performances, which added many highlights to the film.

So much so that many media believe American Hustle could be a hot movie for next year's Oscars.

In fact, aside from American Hustle, films like The Grand Budapest Hotel, Whiplash, Gone Girl, and Birdman are all key projects for Lionsgate Films in aiming for the Oscars.

By the end of the year, it is a crucial period for lobbying for the Oscars. At this time, the PR departments of Lionsgate Films and Palm Beach Films have already begun to take action. How many nominations they can secure will only be revealed next year in February or March.

"Daddy, Mommy."

While the two were chatting, little Margarita woke up from her nap, came over rubbing her eyes with her chubby little fists, and after reaching the sofa, conscientiously squeezed in between the two and sat down, kicking her short legs and asking, "Mommy, how many days till Christmas?"

"Five days."

Ivanka said, smiling while stroking the little one's soft hair.

"Is five days a long time?"

The little one blinked with bright shiny eyes.

"Not long at all, it'll be here before you know it."

Ivanka held her little hand, one little finger representing one day, five fingers representing five days.

Little Margarita also began counting like she was learning math, using her fingers, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, counting back and forth a few times.

"Daddy, will there be Santa Claus this Christmas?"

The little one asked crisply.

"Yes, there will be. Santa Claus will bring Margarita a gift. What gift does Margarita want? Tell Daddy, and Daddy will have Santa prepare it in advance."

Link said with a smile.

"Santa Claus, gift."

The little one repeated, then blinked her fan-like eyelashes, "Margarita wants a gift."

"Okay, Santa knows now, and he will bring Margarita a gift."

Link smiled.

"Will Alexander and Cynthia get gifts too?"

"Of course, Alexander and Cynthia will both get gifts, just like Margarita."

"Daddy, when will Santa Claus come?"

"On Christmas Day."

"When is Christmas Day?"

"Five days away."

"Only five days left."

"Is five days a long time?"

"...."

Link and Ivanka chuckled softly and repeated their earlier conversation.

Hearing the little one mention Christmas, Link called Taylor in the afternoon to discuss it, hoping to spend the holiday together.

Taylor said it was fine to spend it together, this year at her villa.

Link asked if she could cook. Nannies take holidays during Christmas, and it wouldn't do to have no one cooking.

Taylor wanted him to cook, and she would make cakes and pastries.

Link suggested going to New York for the New Year. Last Christmas was in Los Angeles and New Year's in New York. It happened to snow in New York then; all three little ones liked the snow. This year, it seems New York might also get snow during Christmas, which would make the festive atmosphere richer.

Taylor also had two mansions in New York, Link owned a small apartment, and Ivanka had a top-tier mansion, so it would be fine to celebrate anywhere.

After thinking it over, Taylor suggested spending Christmas at his small apartment in Yorkville, where they spent Christmas in '09. Although small, it was cozy.

Link agreed, noting that the Yorkville apartment had three bedrooms and four bathrooms, nearly 200 square meters, so it wasn't really that small.

After hanging up the phone, Link and Ivanka discussed, and she had no objections. Since they decided to return to New York, they might as well set off tomorrow to prepare for Christmas in advance.

Link agreed, called the crew to be on standby for the return to New York tomorrow, and contacted Catherine and Mrs. Mandy to talk about spending Christmas in New York.

Catherine's family was spending the year in Los Angeles, and Mrs. Mandy and Selena had returned to New York in advance.

——

December in New York was winter; it was cold, with occasional overnight snowfalls. The woods and grasslands of Central Park were covered in a white blanket, and every time this happened, the three youngsters would clamor to play in the snow.

After arriving at Central Park, Link let the three little ones, dressed like cotton puffs, loose in the snow to roll around and have snowball fights until their little hands and faces turned red with cold.

Alexander and Cynthia were four years old after the New Year, one a cool little handsome boy, and the other a pretty little lady. When playing with little Margarita, they took care of their younger sister, who willingly became their tag-along.

Only when Selena and Little Annie were around did the three become their tag-alongs.

On Christmas Day, New York saw just a bit of light snow before the weather cleared.

At Selena's suggestion, the group went back to the Rockefeller Center ice rink to skate. In '09, Link and Ivanka took Selena and Little Annie there to skate, and Little Annie was about the same age as Alexander and Cynthia then.

Now in the blink of an eye, Little Annie had grown up, and Alexander and Cynthia were growing up day by day.

This time Link didn't enter the rink; he, Ivanka, and Taylor, hands in their pockets, stood at the edge watching over Selena and the three little ones as they rolled around on the empty ice, their laughter and screams unending.

"The three little ones really like snow and ice. How about we go to Switzerland next Christmas? There's even thicker snow there."

Link said.

"I'll follow your lead."

Ivanka said with a shrug and a smile.

"Don't just listen to him; his plans are not always reliable. The three only fancy snow and ice because they live in Los Angeles most of the time, so it's a rare sight for them. If they lived in the snowy mountains, I bet they'd start hating snow within a week."

Taylor said, blinking.

"That's a good point, but haven't you noticed how long they have played without getting tired?"

Link pointed out.

Taylor shook her head, "Your ways of raising children are not good; you spoil them too much. Whatever they want, you give them. When they grow up, they'll become lazy adults relying on parents. Do you want them to turn out that way?"

"They are still too young. Fulfilling their needs and giving them a happy childhood, what's wrong with that?"

"Good kids are trained from a young age. I did plenty of chores to get a guitar when I was little. But you? Whatever the three ask for, you give them. When they grow up and continue asking you for things, and you find them lackluster, that will be your fault, not theirs."

Taylor said, hands in her pockets, looking cool.

Link stroked his chin, looking at Ivanka, "Is Taylor right?"

Ivanka gave a slight smile, "That sounds right, but can you really resist giving in when they're crying and asking you for something?"

Link frowned and turned to Taylor, "Your new album promotion is done. You'll have time next year to teach the kids a little stricter discipline."

"Hmph, I'll be strict with them, but if they run crying to you and then you act the kind father, using it to win them over?"

Taylor said, smirking.

"No, I'll be fair. If it's their fault, I'll be even stricter in my criticism."

Link said seriously.

"What if it's my fault? Will you criticize me too?"

Taylor asked with a cold expression.

"Of course not, you rarely make mistakes. And even if you do, you correct them quickly, no need for my input."

Link said with a smile.

"Humph! What's a World Boxing Champion playing kind father for?"

Taylor retorted.

Ivanka couldn't help laughing as she listened.

"What are you talking about?"

Selena, wearing protective gear, a down jacket, and jeans, and standing on her roller skates, stopped inside the barrier, looking cool.

"Your skating skills are getting better, almost professional level."

Link praised.

"Of course."

Selena lifted her chin proudly.

Then Alexander and Cynthia screamed as they rushed over, colliding with Selena one after the other, turning into tumbleweeds, and little Margarita, seeing the three older children fall, also lay on the ice, rolling around.
