Divine Luck: SSS-Rank Battle Maid Harem

Chapter 597: More Than A Month

Zach had a long-term solution to his problem. Now, he just had to decide whether he could use it as a short-term solution as well. He could activate Surge at a low level right now to stimulate his body.

It would be fine as long as he steered the world essence energy away from his scars. But if he did that, the red scars would be weaker than the rest of his body when they eventually recovered.

Zach was pretty sure that the instability and disharmony of his body would be worse than a fleeting period of weakness. He decided to bear with it for the time being and opened his eyes.

His familiars stood around him, guarding him and the ice wall. They noticed him waking up and lit up. They couldn't help but worry about Zach when he disappeared for days like that. His body was present, but his mind wasn't. It was almost like he was in a coma again.

If it hadn't been because of the changes they noticed his body go through, whether it be flinches of pain or surges of strength and heat, they would have been even more worried, though the expressions of pain that flitted across his face were concerning as well.

Zach told them about his discoveries and plan after confirming that nothing else had changed.

They were a little surprised that he managed to solve it. But if not him, who else could have?

They were also worried about his plan of using Surge to temper his body. It seemed like it could be risky if he did it for too long. He might end up with periods of weakness before he even fought powerful opponents.

After all, what Zach had found out was still mostly a theory. What if he had misunderstood or missed something?

He could be ruining his body with a method like that instead of strengthening it.

Zach tried to say that there was only one way to find out. But Alzara, Soara, and Mandra wanted him to be a little more cautious.

Yanael, on the other hand, supported it.

"I am pretty sure there are similar techniques that martial artists use with their martial energy. They treat their body like it's made of metal and temper and forge it. They usually use external sources to augment their methods, though, whether it be medicines, heat, or metaphorical hammers," She said to the other three before turning to Zach.

"Master, considering your contract skills rely on the strength of your body, and you fight with your fists, I think it's a good idea, even if it doesn't work. Your world essence energy is also better than martial energy, so it should work even without a specific technique for that and without the supplements martial artists use."

"But…?" Zach could tell Yanael had more to say. He liked it. She had a lovely voice. He could listen to her talk for ages. It was a shame that she didn't do it more.

"Since you said you were going to wait until your body recovered, may I suggest that we take some time to develop a technique specifically for tempering your body with your world essence energy? While we're at it, we can also research medicines that will help," Yanael suggested, glancing at Alzara.

Alzara nodded excitedly. She had already started thinking about the various ingredients they might need. She was eager to get started on making things that were more advanced than the simple hair-loss prevention tonics she had made for the Guild.

Soara and Mandra were also interested in learning more about world essence energy, especially Mandra. It might help her with her next big thing.

Zach glanced at the ice wall.

"I have a feeling we should be quick about it, though."

"May I ask why, Master…?" Yanael asked. The sounds from the other side of the ice wall hadn't changed much, and it didn't seem like the ice wall would break any time soon.

"Of course." Zach nodded and stood up.

"Hasn't it already been more than a month since we were last in trouble?"

Zach felt like the last time he had gone this long without any kind of trouble was the break between the first and second years at the Academy, but that wasn't even right. He had risked his life when he fought the Rat King on the first floor of the Labyrinth.

Then, it had to be the months leading up to his entry to the Academy. That was the most peaceful time in his life. Since then, it had been nonstop trouble or action.

Yanael had been with him for all of it. She knew what he was talking about. More than a month of peace in one go? It could only mean that great trouble was looming over the horizon.

Whether they wanted it or not, it would come for them.

It could be the Apostle on the other side of the ice wall. If they fled the Underworld, it could be the Hydra, the principal, another war, the nobles, or an entirely unexpected threat on the surface.

Wherever they went, they would find themselves wrapped up in some kind of trouble.

One of the many pleasures of Zach's Troublemaker Title.

Since there was no escaping it, Zach had a very valid point. They should be as quick and efficient as possible about fixing him, and designing a technique that would focus on tempering his body. They also had to devise potions and medicines to help that technique.

It was a lot, but simultaneously not. But they would be busy.

So, after staring at the ice wall for a few more moments, they got started.

Alzara drafted a list of ingredients she would need. She also had Zach take her to Haven to look at the plants there and loop Ra in on the plan. Ra put a hand on Zach and investigated his body and the world essence energy. She nodded and sank into silence.

Soara took the list and left for the surface with Anerias' help.

Yanael and Mandra did the same as Ra and started tinkering with the method, using Surge's effects as a base.
