Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4135: On Thin Ice?

"Listen, listen… I threw myself to that crystal rock and burned it with my flames. Then suddenly, I could hear strange sounds. At first, I didn't think of any of it. I thought I was hungry instead, but quickly, I knew it was someone trying to speak to me, so when I focused, I was suddenly able to understand its words. It came from inside the rock, so it must be that rock spirit. Uhm… yes, the Realm Core Spirit. That's what elder sister Lereza also called, so it must be the truth."

"The Realm Core Spirit pleaded for me to spare it. Then elder sister Lereza told me to demand… demand… ahh. In any case, I told them not to be friends with anyone and give them power. It accepted my demand~" Stay connected with empire

Calypsea clenched her little fists and tried her best to relay what happened to Davis. Her crimson-gold eyes appeared sincere.

"So that's what happened. You're great, Calypsea. No one would dare say anything about keeping this essence to yourself. You have earned it."

Davis reached out his hand and patted her head. Calypsea's lips parted as she giggled lightly.

"Right? This is Calypsea's. Calypsea is a good spirit who listens~"

"Yes, you are."

Calypsea swayed with a joyous smile. She touched her cheeks, appearing prideful and shy.

Davis knew she was high in the clouds if she was speaking using her own name. She only did that when her emotions became heightened. However, he could see her growth since she didn't release apocalyptic flames while doing it.

He lifted her up and wiped her chin of the melted essence. It was cold to the touch but instantly began dissolving his finger ever so lightly as though it was corrosive.

"Ah~"

Calypsea instantly grabbed his hand and hurriedly dispersed the remnant energy wreaking havoc on his finger. She then extended her bottom lip out, appearing as though she was going to cry.

"Master shouldn't touch it. It is very powerful…"

"I know, sweetheart."

Davis smiled gently and unleashed a layer of life energy that quickly healed it, "You have become so powerful after becoming an Empyrean Spirit. However, you have to be careful not to break the limit of the layer. Otherwise, you will be separated from us."

"I know. I will keep my power in check~"

Calypsea joined her hands, appearing confident.

"By the way, how did the Realm Core Spirit look like?"

Calypsea placed a finger on her lips and tapped twice, "Mhm… it appeared like a tiny spirit the size of my hand or even smaller, but it was beyond four layers of crystals. I think the deeper one goes, the more I lose sight of it as though it is not in this world."

"Oh?" Davis was intrigued by Calypsea's words.

Not in this world?

He knew her experience of the world was very little, but her instincts were scary. She even found the World Master when the latter was merely gazing at them.

As Davis thought about it, he felt that could be possible.

The innermost layer could actually be from another Dimension, but which one?

As he thought about the Major Dimensions, he could only think of the Elemental Dimension. Perhaps such a Dimension might be able to accommodate a spirit to empower a core made up of a myriad of Laws.

Then again, Calypsea could be wrong, and it was just the innermost layer where the spirit existed that could be considered another world that couldn't be broken out from. This made sense as to why the Realm Core's Spirits were never found outside. It made sense as to why they could not be contacted by anyone, not even the Realm Master.

'To bring out its powers from the four or five layers, it actually needs to bond with a lifeform… but even if it could bond with others, making them Realm Masters, it still couldn't communicate with them…'

They could only speak through these layers using only one language called the First of Life Language, and no one other than Calypsea knew this language.

Davis fueled his imagination to think about why the Realm Core Spirits were the way they were. It might give him more leeway to get them under his control.

He asked for more information by framing many questions in different ways, but he couldn't derive any new information from it.

The comeuppance of the Desolate Era or the Desolate Age was something to worry about, but he didn't think it would happen in his time. It was a matter for the far future, hundreds and thousands of years ahead or even more, so he wasn't against harming a realm core if it meant their family's survival.

Still, he didn't want to go that far. After all, the spirit appeared to be begging for its life while having done no wrong. Davis simply couldn't extinguish such a life without a drastic reason. Then, he would want to kill himself because he would become the same kind of person whom he wanted to kill when going on a killing spree to collect souls to devour.

"You understand now?" Mingzhi asked from the side.

Davis looked at her for a few seconds before he slightly nodded, "We're on thin ice again."

"Indeed. I think it would be in our best interests if you come out and declare that the terrifying apocalyptic flame spirit is under your control, and any realm officials who think of eliminating us will be met with a catastrophic disaster of their realm core melting and bringing about the destruction of their realm. That should keep the realm officials away and give them a reason not to follow the orders of the Heaven's Warriors. As for those Heaven's Warriors, they're just sending gifts of their corpses by coming to us."

"True." Davis lightly smiled, "But do you understand that this plan would require me to reveal myself in this realm, which means this mini realm, the Second Void Dust Sanctuary's, would be compromised sooner or later."

"There's no way around it." Mingzhi sighed, "If you personally don't reveal yourself and announce it, the wider world will begin forming the largest crusades of the era in order to end Calypsea and us once and for all. We would be forcing their hands if we didn't announce that the apocalyptic flame spirit is controllable. If our home meets danger, we could shift everything here to another sanctuary with Stella's power."

"Only you would remain here until the Covenant ends, but I think this is a far better option than having the entire galaxy target us all at once. They'd shred us with their sheer numbers alone, using trillions of lives to exhaust us. There's no shortage of fools who are willing to give their lives for the human race to thrive."

"Well, I don't think they could use lives to exhaust me…"

Davis wryly smiled, but he nodded, "Case on point, you're right. I will think of a decision to make soon. I need to consult it with the others, but more importantly, who do you think should be in control of the Verdant Vale Lower Realm? It should be a non-Divergent. Otherwise, I'm afraid that we'd implicate the Realm Core and cause it to die soon or make it endure untoward consequences."
