Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Whitney Frost
Signaling Peter to lead the way, the group proceeded to the Actors Department.
In an office, a middle-aged, pompous man in a suit was loudly scolding one of the department heads. Sitting gracefully on a nearby sofa, smoking a cigarette, was an elegant woman - none other than Whitney Frost, someone Josh had met before.
"I didn't expect to see you here, Whitney!" Josh walked straight into the office and greeted Whitney.
"Where did that brat come from? Do you even know how to address your elders? Didn't your mother teach you any manners?" Before Whitney could answer, the middle-aged man began to shout.
Josh and Margaret's expressions instantly turned cold.
Vito, standing behind Josh, acted quickly. He stepped forward and delivered a sharp knee to the man.
"Mother-" The man tried to curse, but was silenced by Vito's heavy stomp on his face. Teeth and blood splattered everywhere and the man could not utter another word.
Most of the people in the room were stunned by Vito's actions. Only Josh and the bodyguards looked at Vito with admiration.
No one had expected this seemingly sophisticated young man to be so decisive and ruthless.
"Vito, next time, tone it down a bit. There are ladies present, after all," Josh said as he patted Margaret's shoulder reassuringly. There was no real reprimand in his tone.
"It's fine, just a little scene," Margaret replied, shaking her head. Vito's sudden action had startled her at first, but when she saw the middle-aged man groaning on the floor, she felt vindicated and even looked at Vito with approval.
To Margaret, insulting Josh was no different than insulting her.
"Yes, boss. I'll be more careful next time," Vito smiled slightly and stepped back respectfully. This move undoubtedly made a big impression on both Josh and Margaret.
"Who is that guy?" Josh asked, looking at the middle-aged man clutching his face to the floor.
"Sorry, Mr. Kahn. He's my agent. He was upset after a dispute with management and lost his temper. Please forgive him," Whitney said, her voice filled with fear. She recognized Josh as the young Chicago tycoon she'd met before.
Inwardly, Whitney cursed her useless agent. Instead of solving problems, he kept creating them. She wasn't afraid of Josh, but she didn't want to make unnecessary enemies.
"Oh, just one agent? I almost thought Mr. Chadwick himself was here," Josh remarked coldly.
"This has nothing to do with Mr. Chadwick, Mr. Kahn," Whitney quickly replied in a slightly annoyed tone, suspecting that Josh's remarks were due to Peter's presence.
Josh didn't react immediately. He stared at Whitney for a moment before finally speaking. "You're right, Ms. Frost. Let's stick to the matter at hand. Have your agent apologize to my subordinate and this will be over."
"Your subordinate?" Whitney looked at Vito.
"Not him. Him." Josh pointed to the manager who had been scolded earlier.
Realizing Josh's identity as the new owner of the company, Whitney's expression changed slightly. "Understood," she said before nudging her agent with her foot. "Apologize now!"
"S-sorry... Mr. Murdoch, Mr. Kahn. It was my fault," the agent stammered, groveling on the floor.
"All right, go," Josh said dismissively, not giving him another look.
After receiving Whitney's stern glare, the agent bolted from the room, stumbling and falling again at the door. It was obvious that the bodyguards were behind the stunt, though they feigned innocence.
As the agent left, Whitney turned to Josh with a flattering smile. "My deepest apologies, Mr. Kahn. I've reconsidered the matter of the contract. With you taking over Sigel Pictures, I see no need to terminate it."
"People always seek better opportunities, Ms. Frost. I bear no grudge," Josh replied, extending his hand. "Let's hope for a successful partnership in the future."
"Of course, Mr. Kahn. I'm sure it will be," Whitney said, shaking his hand with a forced smile. After excusing herself, she left with a final look at Vito, whose decisive actions had made a deep impression on her.
After Whitney left, Josh gathered his team. "All right, with the outsiders out of the way, let's get down to business. Sigel Pictures will merge with Rose Entertainment to form DreamWorks. My second-in-command, Lyndon Schneider, will serve as interim general manager. Brad and Peter will be executive vice presidents."
Josh's statement made the two managers grumpy for a moment, but he quickly added, "Prove yourselves. Your performance will determine the leadership of the company.
He then presented two scripts: The Sound of Music for Sabrina and The Seven Year Itch for Angela. The managers were assigned to work on these projects, motivating them to do their best.
