Chapter 202: 202: Loot
When facing an opponent who challenged him head-on, Kizaru didn't mind giving them more chances. But trash like Dr. Bofoi? Giving him a chance was just asking for trouble.
"F*ck! You actually dared to exploit my sympathy!"
Tony Stark felt his pride take a hit. He had actually felt empathy for this bastard!
No—worse. This shameless scumbag had dared to manipulate the kindness of Mr. Stark himself!
"Hmph! You lucky brat! Not only are you ungrateful after gaining access to the great Dr. Bofoi's technology, you even have the nerve to question me?"
Dr. Bofoi snapped back without hesitation. In his eyes, Stark's Iron Man suit was nothing more than third-rate tech—at least two generations behind his own work.
Even J.A.R.V.I.S., Stark's so-called highlight, was just a toy compared to what Bofoi had already moved past.
And yet this brat, inferior in every way, was now inheriting all of his life's work so easily?
"Tch! As if I need your tech! It's nothing but trash cobbled together by hacks! Won't be long before I prove that with my own work!"
Tony Stark roared in frustration. If this bastard didn't deserve to die, he might have asked Kizaru to let him live just a little longer—just so Bofoi could watch him get surpassed.
"Hmph! You better prove it, or I'll look down on you even in death!"
Dr. Bofoi sneered and then ignored the fuming Stark, sitting calmly in his cage with his eyes closed, waiting to die.
"Enough. Don't waste time arguing with that sewer rat. Pack everything up, and then let's hit his next hideout for more loot."
Kizaru said flatly, clearly annoyed. He'd brought Stark along to save time and avoid waste—not to watch a shouting match.
"Let's get one thing straight. I'm only helping you organize. I want nothing to do with that guy's tech!"
Tony Stark was livid. His pride couldn't accept being treated like some lucky thief by Bofoi.
But the bitter truth was—at least right now—he didn't have anything that could outshine Bofoi's tech. Even his proudest invention, the Iron Man suit, lagged behind the war mechas Bofoi had developed.
Still, Stark had unwavering confidence in his own genius. Give it ten years—no more—and he'd definitely surpass Bofoi.
The only thing that annoyed him? By then, Bofoi's bones would have already turned to dust.
"But aren't you just playing into his hands like this? What if he wants you to be too proud to use his tech—just so it all goes to waste?"
Kizaru commented casually. Stark was still too young.
If it were Kizaru, he wouldn't care what Bofoi said. So what if he used his tech? Come cry about it if you don't like it.
The more moral you were, the more likely you'd suffer. Kizaru had learned that the hard way—after being disgusted for years by the decaying naval top brass and the World Government.
But he wasn't the loser in the end. Nearly all those high-ranking scumbags who tried to screw him over had eventually fallen into his hands. And after that? Kizaru just did the bare minimum, loafed around, and freeloaded government paychecks for decades.
"...Fine. I still won't use it. But if you want to, I can help guide you."
Tony Stark finally gave in a little—not because he cared about the tech, but because he didn't want Kizaru thinking he'd fallen for Bofoi's reverse psychology.
Thankfully, he came up with a perfect compromise. He wouldn't use Bofoi's tech—but he could advise the others on how to use it.
That way, no one could say he was a thief, and Bofoi's work would still be put to good use. Perfect!
"Suit yourself. Just make sure you grab everything worth taking. You guys head out first—I'll stay here and clean up."
Kizaru didn't care what Stark ultimately decided. Now that most of the tech had been copied, he'd already transferred the valuable stuff to Orochimaru in Konoha via the chat group's trading function, asking him to hold onto it.
What came next wasn't suitable for children.
Originally, Kizaru planned to feed Dr. Bofoi and Madam Perus to aliens, but then he remembered—Groribas never actually said it ate humans. So, he had Orochimaru send Manda, the giant snake, over to act as a living trash compactor.
No one objected. Tornado and Blizzard both had personal grudges against Bofoi and Perus. Tony Stark had seen far worse and had zero sympathy for monsters like them.
Ai Haibara silently lumped the two of them in with the Organization—the kind of trash the world was better off without.
Even the seemingly harmless little Xiao Mei, who grew up in a feudal-era fantasy world, didn't bat an eye. Death didn't faze her—especially when it came to strangers. Especially bad strangers.
"W-What are you doing?! Don't do anything reckless! The Hero Association won't let you get away with this!"
Unlike Dr. Bofoi, who had already closed his eyes and accepted death, Madam Perus was clearly still struggling to face reality.
Just half a day ago, she had still been a high-ranking executive of the Hero Association—high and mighty. And now, with one wrong move, she had fallen into disgrace, a prisoner awaiting execution.
When Flash somehow summoned a giant serpent, the usually calm and rigid Madam Perus finally lost her composure and began to panic.
"This is just to let you experience what your victims went through. Whether it's being eaten by a monster or swallowed by a giant snake—what's the difference?"
Kizaru casually patted the massive snake's body. He originally wanted to call over his old acquaintance Manda, but unfortunately, there had been a mishap on Orochimaru's end. Manda was throwing a tantrum, so Orochimaru had sent over a smaller—but still gigantic—snake.
Still, it was more than enough to swallow two humans whole. Among the summoning beasts of the Ryuchi Cave, while there were exceptions like the feathered serpents that didn't eat people, most of them were gluttons like Manda.
This particular serpent was no exception—and it even seemed like someone had warned it beforehand, because it was especially obedient in front of Kizaru.
"Demon! You're a demon!"
Faced with a man-eating snake, Madam Perus screamed in terror. Unfortunately for her, Kizaru—who had long been disgusted by people like her—felt no sympathy at all. He simply watched as she was swallowed whole in one bite.
After sending the snake back to the shinobi world, Kizaru took a moment to review his Earth Style ninjutsu, burying the entire base deep underground.
"Mm. Ninjutsu really does come in handy sometimes. I should buy more from Orochimaru later…"
Leaping into the air, Kizaru looked down at the ground—now completely devoid of any trace of the base—and nodded in satisfaction.
With his physique and mental fortitude, "chakra" wasn't even a stretch to describe his power. Even in the world of tailed beasts, only the complete form of the Nine-Tails could compare to him.
Even the most basic Earth Release techniques wielded by him held the power to move mountains and fill seas.
While most ninjutsu didn't exactly align with his combat style, as the saying goes: "You can never know too many tricks." You never know when something might come in handy.
But that was for later.
Right now, he still had to act fast—before word got out about the deaths of Madam Perus and Dr. Bofoi—and secure Bofoi's legacy for himself.
They say "a cunning rabbit has three burrows," but Bofoi was at least a hundred times more cunning than a rabbit. The number of secret labs and hideouts he had was anything but small.
Fortunately, only a few of them actually held significant value.
As long as he secured those key assets, the rest could be left for the Blizzard Group to make use of later.
There was also Madam Perus' inheritance to consider—but compared to the independent Bofoi, she had preferred working through others.
Aside from a few assets only she knew about, everything else would be too risky to touch. Taking over her holdings would basically be a dead giveaway that Kizaru was behind her death.
---
It took several days for the group to finish raiding all of Bofoi's key facilities.
The primary loot consisted of all kinds of cutting-edge tech. In addition, his mobile armors and various types of weaponry were all cleared out.
"Nuclear fusion armor tech, EMP-resistant communications, micro-electronic cores… That old freak really had some tricks up his sleeve…"
Tony Stark winced as he read the long list of recovered tech. He had definitely underestimated the scope of Bofoi's life's work.
Even with his unmatched creativity, it would likely take over a decade to fully surpass Bofoi's level.
Thinking he could beat the guy in under ten years had been... overly optimistic.
But in fairness, Stark's age and time spent in scientific research were both far shorter. And Bofoi, from the looks of him, had nothing going on besides science—he was the textbook mad scientist.
Whereas Tony Stark, with his playboy lifestyle, parties, and all-around high-energy life, had still managed to maintain top-tier innovation.
Thinking of it that way actually made Tony feel a bit better.
Not long after, he helped compile a tech shortlist to hand over to Ai Haibara.
Bofoi truly did deserve the title of "genius." Even in areas like biology and pharmaceuticals—fields he hadn't focused on—his work was astounding.
After removing the more inhumane and ethically disturbing projects, what remained still left Ai Haibara wide-eyed with awe.
"Not bad at all. If there's another opportunity like this next time, make sure to call me."
Ai Haibara pursed her lips as she scanned the newly organized list of technologies. Her usually cold and aloof face finally softened into a satisfied smile.
She had no interest in things like human modification or biochemical weapons—but even just the few formulas and compounds they had recovered made the whole trip worth it in her eyes.
