Devouring Demons in Demon Slayer

The {spider-faced demon} sent Tanjiro flying hundreds of meters with a powerful blow. Reaching his highest point, he began a rapid descent towards a dense forest.

The force of the impact propelled him at around seventy kilometers per hour. Landing at that speed without any mitigation would be unsurvivable.

Tanjiro needed to reduce his speed before impact.

After a moment's consideration, he decided to use Water Breathing, Eighth Form, Waterfall Basin, Destruction, to lessen the impact.

"Water Breathing, Eighth Form, Waterfall Basin, Destruction!"

About ten meters from the ground, Tanjiro activated the technique, slashing his blade downwards towards the earth.

The moment the blade struck, a large volume of water erupted, cascading downwards and impacting the ground, providing significant cushioning and mitigating much of the impact force.

However, Waterfall Basin alone wouldn't ensure a safe landing. As the technique was halfway through, Tanjiro transitioned to Water Breathing, Second Form, Water Wheel, using the momentum to flip himself.

He created a circular water blade, rolling across the ground several times before landing, somewhat gracelessly but safely.

Upon landing, he heard a girl crying and begging nearby, instantly making him tense.

Intrigued, Tanjiro followed the sound, quickly hiding behind a tree trunk. He saw the fleeing {female demon}, the source of the cries, kneeling before a white-haired boy with a number five on his eye. Her hands covered her face, blood continuously dripping down.

"What are you spying on? This isn't a show for your amusement!" The boy, noticing Tanjiro, turned towards the tree.

Tanjiro, surprised his careful concealment had failed, stepped out from behind the tree.

Their gazes locked, creating an unsettling atmosphere.

Tanjiro immediately saw the number five in one of the boy's pupils, his expression turning grave.

A sudden, chilling wind blew, lifting the hair that had been covering the boy's other eye, revealing another number.

Tanjiro gasped, his entire body tensing.

The white-haired boy was Lower Rank Five of the Twelve Kizuki. Tanjiro recalled the warning from the {female demon} he'd killed: "Rui is among the Twelve Kizuki. Be careful!" Could this boy be Rui?

The fear emanating from this {female demon} was identical to the previous one.

Could their fear be directed at this Lower Rank Five {demon boy}?
